MECHANIC SPECIAL - RUNS FINE BUT NEEDS HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP Before we get into the main description I do need to disclose that this truck runs and drives perfectly, and was well taken care of by its only owner. I've driven this truck every which way, tested out and flipped every single switch and the only thing that is wrong with this truck is that it will need its high pressure fuel pump to be replaced. The truck runs and drives fine under normal use, but IN SOME CASES if you really "gun" it (give it a lot of pedal) instead of it accelerating as it should it will act like its fuel starved around 2500 RPMs and will not accelerate until you let the pedal off. If you don't give it a lot of gas you'd never know the truck had a problem. When you give it a lot of gas you will eventually get a check engine light related to low fuel rail pressure. We have taken this truck to the local Ford dealer in San Antonio, and they have diagnosed the issue as being within the high pressure fuel pump. Something that can be attributed to normal wear on a truck with this many miles. The only problem is that according to Ford the body will need to come off the frame in order to install the pump making the repair bill a little over $4,000 dollars for this fuel pump job. Since I don't have the $4,000 to get it done I'd rather offer it at a discount to someone who can deal with this issue in a more cost effective manor and get themselves one heck of a truck for a whole lot less than you'd be able to find anywhere else. You should be able to drive this truck home as long as you take it easy (no punching it!), but I cannot guarantee that as the truck does have the fuel pump problem. As you probably know Texas is considered to be rust free and as such we checked around the truck and found no rust on the truck and no indication of it developing rust in the future. The normal wear that you'd expect on a truck of this mileage has been kept to an absolute minimum. It really looks incredible inside and our! Acceleration is very smooth thanks to all the torque that the engine provides. You really feel in control of the truck when its accelerating! It handles very well. The 6.4 liter V8 engine is beautiful condition. It has plenty of power to take on whatever you would need to use it for! The automatic transmission shifts very smooth, just as it should. It'll also make getting your boat in and out of the water an ease thanks to the truck's towing package! The 4x4 works great having been tested in both low and high modes! I noticed no flaws at all in the engine and transmission, everything works as it should. The truck even features cruise control for those long highway drives! When you need to get this truck stopped, the brakes will do it just as they did when the truck was new, stopping the truck evenly and effectively. You won't realize what a bargain this truck is until you get behind the wheel and realize how well this truck has been kept! You will have a very hard time finding a truck that's this nice for such little money. This truck is really a value with a selling price well below any guidebook's standards.
