A 1995 E420 Special Edition, Azure Blue (#366) with parchment leather, well documented low miles, 4.2 liter 275 HP V8 engine, 4 speed automatic transmission. Senior owned and driven, always in Arizona, presently in Phoenix. INTERIOR - The leather upholstery is very nice. Both front and back seats have been covered with sheepskin seat covers. The door panels, carpet, and headliner are also excellent. The burl wood trim on the doors, dash and console is shiny and has no cracks. All interior power features work properly - radio, sunroof, windows, door locks, mirrors, cruise control, climate control, etc. Air conditioner is excellent. There is a light tint on the windows. EXTERIOR - The body is straight and the paint is shiny and overall very good. There are minor imperfections and the car could use clearcoat work on the roof. It looks fine from 10 feet but is not up to the standards of the rest of the car. It is a true Arizona car – so not a spec of rust or corrosion anywhere. The doors, trunk and hood all close properly. The trunk, trunk mat and trunk well are all clean. The jack and tool kit are in order. The wheels are original Special Edition alloys and in very good condition. The Bridgestone tires are near new. The windshield is the factory original with one rock chip in the vicinity of the rear view mirror that has been repaired and contained, but is still visible. MECHANICAL - The low miles on the car are well documented in both the service book and the Autocheck report. The service book is fully stamped and shows many extra oil changes. Service work was performed at the dealer in Scottsdale (Schumacher) and at a well regarded Phoenix independent shop (German Auto on 7th Street). The car starts quickly and quietly on cold and warm starts, and runs and drives smoothly and properly in all operating conditions. There are no fluid leaks. Brake pads are new in the front, good in the rear. The car does NOT have optional, troublesome ASR traction control. The engine wiring harness has been replaced. The part tag shows a production date for the harness of July 2004. The four speed automatic transmission upshifts and downshifts smoothly and properly in all gears. There is no pause shifting into reverse and no clicking noise when backing up in reverse. OTHER NOTES - This is a Special Edition model, an option package in the final year of 124 chassis production. The package included six hole alloy wheels (instead of 8 hole), stainless steel door sills, metallic paint, and a few other items. E420s, driven moderately, get excellent fuel economy - over 20 mpg in the city and high 20s on the highway – due to the very tall rear axle ratio (2.24). The engine turns only about 2k RPMs at 60 MPH. Also included is an OBD flash code reader which allows for fault code reading on 8 diagnostic modules on the 38 pin diagnostic connector in the engine compartment. The car has a clean Autocheck report with no accidents. The report overstates the number of owners by two, the result of two non-transfer title re-issues. TRANSPORT – Seller will pick up buyer at Phoenix Airport. Seller can provide airfare into Phoenix on Southwest Airlines for $125. SUMMARY - This is an excellent example of one the best models that Mercedes ever made - the 124 chassis E-class with the 119 V8 motor. It is a dry Arizona car with no rust or corrosion. The body is straight and the paint is good. Both the leather and mechanical condition are exceptional. The car has been senior owned and driven, principally as a winter car. It has quite low miles – about 4,500 per year. Regular maintenance at two good shops is well documented in the service book.
