Vehicle Detail
1985 Buick Riviera, 2 Door Hardtop Coupe, V-8 Automatic, Midnight Blue Color with ½ Vinyl Top & Sunroof, All Original. Not for sure, but don’t believe the car has ever been wrecked, No Dents or Dings in body, No visible rust. Purchased in December 1989 for my Mother from near Nasa Road 1, Clear Lake, TX. She drove until she could not drive anymore around 2005. She only drove average of 40 or 50 miles a week to local stores, etc. When purchased in 1989, the Original owner indicated the engine had just been rebuilt (after 100,000 miles) and CV-Joints were replaced. I have no reason to doubt this, engine purrs like a kitten now, does not smoke and CV-Joints Did NOT “click” and the transmission ran good the last time I drove it. Has sat under carport for the last 6 years, until last month, April 2011. Paint looks good on sides, pollen and dust sat on roof for a while. Buffing Compound could possibly bring most all Paint back to life, except on roof between windshield and sunroof where the finish is somewhat rough, needing refinishing. Vinyl Roof looks OK. To be 25 years old, the interior looks and smells OK except, the headliner is falling. (My Mom kept a good smelling fragrance in car). With a little work, has the Potential to be a BEAUTIFUL Car again. Negatives: Molding around bumpers and boots around CV-Joints have deteriorated, I believe since it sat so long without being started, without oil on the A/C compressor seal, Freon has leaked out of A/C system. Engine compartment is dusty/dirty and recently determined fuel pump no longer works. The tires (and probably most other exterior rubber) are old and there is no battery. Can start engine (by priming with gas), but seller not physically able to replace fuel pump. Also, the “brass bushings” on the driver’s side door hinges are worn-out and the two (2) hood springs (shock absorber type) are worn out. An estimated cost to just drive the vehicle, (excluding gas, belts and hoses) would be approx.: New Tires: $500 Replace Fuel Pump: $150 (labor included) Battery: $ 50 Registration & Inspection: $100 Approx. Total: $800 Recently put a battery in to check if engine still runs, primed the carburetor with gas, and started it a few times and the engine still purrs (runs good until "priming" gas burns-up). Located in San Augustine County, TX. Near Lufkin/Nacogdoches, TX and Logansport, LA. Buyer responsible for transportation cost. Due to old tires and fuel pump, seller recommends towing or hauling to successful bidder’s location. If towing, Seller will furnish two new (2) tires (recently purchased for towing the car and a boat trailer, tires currently on trailer), for Buyer to have mounted on rear wheels. Note: Seller believes; to replace fuel pump, A/C compressor has to be unbolted (belts, etc.) and “pulled-back” and old gas, (if any) would need to be drained from tank or drained from lines, etc.. Seller is trying be honest in describing the vehicle. However, Seller is selling the vehicle “as-is”, and does not warranty or guarantee the vehicle in any manner. For sentimental reasons, wish I could keep it, was going to do a complete restoration, but recently relocated, and don’t have place to keep it out of the weather, or for health reasons, don’t “have it in me” to restore it. My niece told me recently when she was a little girl riding in the back seat, “…I felt like a Little Queen riding in the back seat of that car”.
