Vehicle Detail
1941 Ford Tudor Sedan Some of the best hot rods are those that don’t scream at you with wild paint and outrageous body modifications. Subtle can be extremely cool, and the way this slick 1941 Ford tudor has been put together, it’s clear that the builder had a real appreciation for keeping things looking like they came from the factory. The beautiful black bodywork has been done to standards that Henry Ford could have only dreamed of in 1941. The 1941 cars were evolutions of the 1940s, but had a more integrated front end, and the rounded, fastback-style bodies were becoming high fashion in the industry. And basic black was always Henry’s favorite color. Gaps are excellent all around, while the quality of the bodywork is very, very good, which is critical on a black car. Most of the original trim was retained and restored to new condition as well, giving this car a very subtle, original look. Inside, you’ll find a beautifully crafted interior that really demonstrates the virtues of preserving original features. Instead of a billet dashboard, the original gauges were retained and rebuilt so they can keep an eye on the hot small block under the hood. A modern tilt column with a shifter for the TH350 transmission takes the place of the original piece, but has been painted to match the interior and wears an original style steering wheel. Door panels have been beautifully stitched, and all the original art-deco style knobs and handles have been artfully restored. Even the billet pedals look right at home. The net effect is that it looks nearly stock, but offers all the modern conveniences you expect from a top-notch rod. Under the hood, however, it’s an entirely different story. A Chevy crate motor takes the place of the original flathead, and generates about four times more power than the original 85 horse V8 did. For reliability, it sticks with the tried-and-true 4-barrel carburetor instead of complex fuel injection, and it runs beautifully. There’s a ton of chrome and billet eye candy as well, which really pops against the inky black paint. You’ll also notice modern conveniences like power steering, power brakes and A/C, compliments of Vintage Air. A massive aluminum radiator up front keeps it all cool, whether you’re cruising the fairgrounds or hammering it on a cross-country trip. The chassis features an independent front suspension with rack and pinion steering and power disc brakes for modern performance. Out back there’s a rugged Ford 9-inch rear hanging on leaf springs and modern tube-type shock absorbers. A beautifully fabricated dual exhaust system gives the car just the right rumble, while the original gas tank supplies the petrol. It rolls on a set of painted steel wheels wearing Ford script hubcaps and blackwall radials for an exceptionally clean, traditional look. If you like your rods traditional, your hardware reliable, and your driving experience to be comfortable, you could certainly do worse than this beautifully assembled ’41 Ford. Reliable, powerful, and fully sorted, it’s ready to drive and enjoy with no further tinkering needed. Call us today!
