Up for auction is 1968 Barracuda Coupe, Formula S, Factory 4 speed. This is a TRUE Formula S car, the cowl # matching with Fender Tag. The car mostly complete, except the 383 Magnum. Car had 3 owner, the original owner purchased it new in KY, he drove it to the college, 1978 he sold for a man in OH , when mileage reading 89,085. Due to gas price problem in 80's, 2nd owner replace the Magnum with slantsix. He drove the car until 89 and its been sitting in the barn since then until I found it last year, thats time mileage reading 98,813. Car has clear title in my hand and I still has a copy of original title which show both 1st and 2nd owner name and address, just in case winner want contact them regard the car history. BODY: The car still has its original paint Monotone Red Paint. The body basically untouched, except the 2nd owner start the restored with prime the driver door and thats it! It has rust in common area, lower fender, quarter panel, rocker and floorpan (see picture). Trunk has hole like 2" diameter, but its not caused by rust. Radiator lower bracket bent caused the truck driver hook the chain to it when move it out of barn. The frame rail, front and rear, is solid. DRIVE-TRAIN: I had the slantsix remove and throw it away. The car come with A833 4speed and correct drivershaft , which is in trunk when I bought it. 2nd owner told it is original came out of the car when he replaced the engine , but I couldnt find partial VIN # on the trans to proof that. SUSPENSION: It has heavy duty suspension six rear leaf spring, 894/895 torsion bar, rear torsion box and heavy duty 10" drum all round. INTERIOR: Wrong bucket seat, missing radio the rest interior is all original. Woodgrain dash trim, 150 speedometer with tachometer. Remote control outside rear view mirror, passenger mirror and deluxe steering wheel. This car is special ordered by 1st owner, he just want plain Formula S package but a lot of trim, trim everywhere, brake, gas, clutch pedal trim, also very spectacular rocker panel trim which you dont often see on 67-69 Barracuda(last pic). Taking about rarity, there was only 154 Barracuda 383 made in 1968 (plymouthbarracuda.net/information/1968-barracuda-production.shtml), assume 100 of them still exist and equally owned by peoples in 50 state, that mean 1 state should have only 2 car. In case your state have more than 3 Coupe Barracuda, big block, 4speed thats a good chance you will see 1 of them is Cloned! About the desirable, those Barracuda Formula S also called A-body Big Block, these word use to point out a wild idea of STUFFING a Big Block engine into a Tiny car.The big engine left no room for neither air conditioning nor the power steering!
