Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a ONE OWNER 1968 Chevy Camaro 327 RS.  This car will start and drive ANYWHERE.  It has been and continues to be very reliable.  It has cold, factory AC, new tires, new shocks, no cracks in the glass, original 2 speed power-glide, factory 10 bolt rear end, drum brakes all around and the same AM radio that it came with.  The wheels are original, the paint is not.  The engine is long gone and replaced with a 307 - I believe that is the only non-original item.  Please read below for more details and please read this thoroughly before contacting me.  I am happy to give my phone number to any serious buyers. This was my Grandmothers car.  She purchased it brand new in 1967 and owned it ever since.  Except for the engine, I believe the car is all original.  The interior is in pretty good shape for its age.  The car has factory original AC and it works.  It starts right up and drives as it should, straight down the road. Starts up great on sub 20* mornings.  It is currently in my name. Before March of 2011 it was in my Grandfathers name since new.  The car does drip some oil and is dirty underneath and in the engine bay. There is no visible rust under the car but it is covered in grease/road grime from 43 years of casual driving.   The engine has been replaced.  What was originally a 327 is now a 307.   It was replaced sometime in the late 70's.  I've had difficulties verifying the actual mileage, it may very well be 165,000.  For as long as I knew her she drove it to plan tennis on Sundays and that was the only time it left the garage.  The emission records indicate that it is 65,000 but I could only find them going back to the early 90s.  It's not inconceivable that the original engine went bad before 65,000 miles... that being said, THE ACTUAL MILEAGE IS UNKNOWN! The car has the original 10 bolt rear end, 2 speed power-glide, and drum brakes all around.    The car has been repainted.  Sometime in the 80's.  It was originally Ash Gold.  It was only ever wrecked once and it was in 1973.  A tire blew out and my step dad ran over a small tree.  They replaced the front bumper/grill/radiator.   No rust except some surface in the trunk which is apparently due to the leaky rear windows that are common on these old cars.  This car has never been outside of Southern AZ, it has never seen salted roads or snow for that matter.  The dash is in good shape with no cracks.  The seam on the drivers seat is beginning to tear but it is only the thread, it is not cracked and there is no foam showing.  The center console rear ashtray is cracked.  The car is absolutely NOT in #1 show condition, if I had to grade it myself I would say its a clean #3 driver.  It is far from a project, however.  If you want a Camaro to fully restore, look elsewhere.  I will not sell it at that price.  The shocks/tires are new and the car has been pretty well maintained.  The headlights covers do not operate except manually.  The car makes a clicking noise sometimes when in park and it wants to roll.  I've been told this is an easy fix but have not investigated it.  It smokes a little on startup but that is likely due to it not being started very often.  It drips some oil (rear main?) but it's not a significant amount.  I will consider partial trade for another vehicle (Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Tacoma, etc..)  If I were interested in classics I would keep this one. I inherited this car and I have no interest in keeping it around.  The car has been in my possession for roughly 6 months.   I drive it around the block about once every 3 weeks to keep the fluids moving.  Email me with any trade offers.
