Vehicle Detail
Hello, let me start by saying that I realize how stressful it can be to buy a vehicle sight un-seen. I don't think a paragraph & 2 or 3 pictures is enough to accurately describe any vehicle, let alone a truck of this caliber. I want you to know everything I know about anything I sell. For that reason, my postings tend to be a little on the long side. I also post 24 super sized pictures. Please take the time to read the item description & view the pictures. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. I have sold diesel vehicles to buyers all over the world & everyone seems to be very happy with what they buy from me. I'm sure you will be also. This rare 4wd Ford is amazing! Anyone would be proud to own this truck! This is a true auction.....NO RESERVE..... High bidder wins!!! DESCRIPTION- This is NOT your average F-350! It is a true 1-owner vehicle that has lived a very easy life here in the South. I was quite lucky to find this truck. A friend of mine ,who works at a local auto auction, called me when the truck came in & told me I had to come down & check it out. She knew that I was a factory trained Ford technician & had owned several PowerStroke powered F-series trucks over the years. When I got to the auction I was truly shocked at how nice this truck is. It didn't look like a typical auction vehicle. After doing a little research, I found out that this truck actually belonged to a local Ford dealership, where it had recently been traded in by it's original owner. I was able to secure the truck before it made it's way through the auction lane, but just barely. I just got lucky. This truck has obviously been well maintained & cared for throughout it's entire life. Plus, this RARE F-350 is LOADED with options! It has the FX4 Off-Road package. It is a Single Rear Wheel F-350. It is a Short Wheel Base, Short Bed 1-ton. It has a 4 Door Access Cab. It is a Leathered-up, Powered-up, XLT Lariat so it has all of the optional equipment that makes driving this super capable truck as comfortable as a ride in the family Lexus! There were very few F-350's built with single rear wheels, access cab & short bed. Due to their shorter overall length, these rare Fords have a tight turning radius. Far more maneuverable than a crew cab long bed or even a crew cab short bed. An F-350 in this rare configuration is PERFECT for hauling a camper or other trailer. There is plenty of room for everyone, plus this truck can easily negotiate tight spaces. When you aren't towing, this extremely nice pick-up can economically & comfortably be used for your daily commute. With a consistant average mileage of 21+ miles per gallon, this highly capable, fully loaded diesel is going to be less costly to operate than a V6 powered Toyota Tacoma & yet be able to do so much more! It has several thousand dollars worth of aftermarket equipment, on top of the $8,000 worth of factory options. This beautiful Ford had a sticker price of $43,445.00! I have the original window sticker along with all of the original books, key tags, warranty information, leather care guide, etc... Some of the aftermarket equipment includes a very nice Hide-A-Way gooseneck hitch in the bed, spray in bed liner, rear air bag suspension, front brush guard & on & on. This truck is BY FAR the nicest 2003 generation F-Series truck I have seen in many, many, many years. It is amazingly clean & tight both inside & out. The mechanics of this vehicle are flawless. If you didn't know it was used.... you would swear you were driving a new truck! People give the 6.0 Power Strokes a bad rep but this low mileage diesel has had ALL of the problematic components replaced! Please read the DRIVETRAIN section below for specifics. This 6.0 Power Stroke is BULLET PROOF !!! If you've never driven a 6.0, you will be pleasantly surprised. These engines are far smoother running, far more responsive & far quieter than any 7.3! I bought this hauler to tow an enclosed stacker car trailer. Business plans have changed & I need to liquidate a few things. So here it is with NO RESERVE !!! This is truly an amazing, top of the line, vehicle that had a very healthy sticker price! New this truck & up-grades cost nearly $60,000! It is no longer new.... but it is close! Even in this depressed economy, the truck has a Kelley Blue Book Private Party Value of $17,870.00. That is the price you should expect to pay for a truck like this, with these factory options & miles, if you were shopping news papers or other classified ads placed by private individuals. Please be aware that the KBB value is for a run of the mill truck. That price does not take into account all of the aftermarket optional equipment installed or the several thousand dollars worth of mechanical up-grades which have been performed on this particular vehicle. But forget all those numbers. This truck is listed with NO RESERVE. You set the price. Bid what this SUPER CLEAN pick-up is worth to you. High bid wins! INTERIOR & OPTIONS- Again... not your average 350! This truck is loaded! I would imagine that this Ford has every single option you could get in 03. Since these trucks are built to work, most F-350's are built with the basic XL trim for use by highway crews, water companies, school systems ect... Really anywhere there is hard work to be done. But this truck was designed to take on the toughest jobs with TOTAL comfort & visual appeal in mind. This truck has everything! It has the Lariat Package on top of the XLT trim! You will be amazed at how completely clean & very much like new the inside of this vehicle is. The gray leather seats are in great condition, showing very little to no wear. Nothing like what you would expect to find in a 2003 model vehicle. The front seats are high backed, power, heated, captain's buckets, complete with locking center storage console. The rear seat is an 80/20 split, full leather bench. The rear seat bottom of either the 80% side or the 20% side can be folded up flat against the rear wall of the cab to provide different types of seating & large item storage. Or both seat bottom sections can be folded up to allow for a huge amount of dry, secure, large item storage. This truck is equipped with factory Deluxe door panels which have wood grain inserts. All four are in perfect condition. The headliner is perfect. This Lariat also has the overhead console with trip computer, compass, clock & storage compartments. There are no cracks in the dash or any of the various trim moldings inside this vehicle. Everything is LIKE NEW! The carpet is as if no one has ever put their feet on it. There are no stains. No matting. Just like a new truck. I didn't have this truck detailed. It is just a naturally clean truck. Anyone can tell that it has not been used for work. There are no cracks or stars in the windshield. All four door glasses are perfect. The back glass is a factory tinted slider. The rear access door glasses are also factory privacy tinted. Like I have said.. THIS TRUCK IS LOADED WITH OPTIONS! Power heated seats. Power windows. Power locks. Tilt steering. Leather wrapped steering wheel. Cruise control. Intermittant windshield wipers. Full instrumentation. Factory indash 6-Disc CD changer with premium sound speakers. This truck even has factory rear door child safety locks. You also get factory power, heated, telescopic towing mirrors with built in turn indicator lights & a factory Class V receiver hitch under the rear bumper. Plus you get all the normal optional equipment which makes driving comfortable. You get power steering. Four wheel anti-lock power disc brakes. Ice cold air conditioning & toasty warm heat. Ford has taken every option you could ask for from a luxury car & put them all into this Super Duty F-350. Right down to the factory keyless entry alarm with key fob controls. On top of all the factory options, you also get many aftermarket up-grades that make this truck look & perform better. 1st & most obvious is the Ranch Hand front brush guard. This is an expensive addition that was done solely for looks. Though it would be useful in the woods, you can tell this truck has never been there. The brush guard is just like new. Not a scratch! The real useable equipment is located at the rear of the truck. There is one factory option I forgot to list. This truck was ordered with a factory 9900lb leaf spring option in the rear. You may notice in the pictures that the truck sits slightly higher in ther rear than in the front. That is due to this up-graded leaf spring package which is listed on the window sticker. Next we have an air bag suspension set-up on the rear. This is also an expensive aftermarket option which makes those long trips pulling your camper ultra smooth & comfortable. These bags can be individually adjusted using the valves located on the rear bumper ends. That means you can pump them up with a simple air tank or portable tire pump, or use any gas station air pump along the road. This way is far less problematic than having an on-board compressor to deal with. Plus you can set each bag independant of the other in order to balance your load. There is also rope or bungee ties on the rear bumper so you can tie down a tarp or cover when hauling delicate cargo in the bed. On the inside of the bed you will find several additional tie down eyelets. Most trucks don't seem to have anywhere to tie to these days so this is a welcome up-grade. The entire inside of the bed has been professionally spray lined. Again, you can tell by the nice condition of the bed's interior that this truck has never seen a hard days work. There is also a super nice, top of the line, hide-a-ball gooseneck hitch in the bed floor. This hitch allows you to pull a lever under the rear fender & release the hitch ball. You can then turn it over & re-install it into the hitch base. This provides you with a flat bed floor with no obstructions of your cargo when you are not towing. If your camper or trailer is a 5th wheel design, you can simply slide the 5th wheel adaptor into the receptical on this hitch base & you can then tow 5th wheel trailers. (the goose neck ball is included but I do not currently have a 5th wheel adaptor since I do not currently own a 5th wheel trailer) There is also a very nice electric trailer brake controller mounted under the dash. TIRES & WHEELS- This ford is equipped with the factory optional, premium 16 inch polished aluminum alloy wheels with chrome center caps. All four of the wheels are perfect. No curb rash. No oxidation. No discoloration. They are in like new, garaged vehicle condition. The 235/75/16 BFGoodrich all-terrain radials have approximatly 60-70% tread remaining & are all wearing evenly with no signs of feathering or cupping. They provide a smooth, quiet ride for a truck of this size. DRIVETRAIN- People tend to shy away from the 6.0 Power Strokes because they were a change from the 7.3 we have all grown to trust. But... the 6.0 is a fantastic diesel engine! Ask anyone in the industry & they will tell you the same. Some Chevy guys like the Duramax better & some Dodge guys like the Cummins better. But for the most part, everyone who really knows these engines agrees that the 6.0 Stroke is the diesel engine to have these days. They are far more powerful in stock form than the old 7.3's. They meet Federal Emissions Standards, unlike the 7.3's. Plus they get far better fuel economy than the 7.3's. I'm not even going to compare the 6.0 to the new 6.4 Ford Diesel. There's really nothing to say..... the 6.4 is junk. Part of the reason for the 6.0's bad reputation was the fact that they had some pretty serious problems early on. These engines were prone to injector failure. They had problems with the ICP (Injection Control Pressure) sensors leaking. They had problems with the IDM's (Injector Control Module) going bad. These are all things that are very expensive to replace if you have to pay for the repairs out of your own pocket. Fortunately you will not have to spend your money replacing any of those parts on this truck since ALL of those components & many more have already been replaced, with all new UPGRADED factory Ford parts! The previous owner must have had a family member who owned a Ford dealership because the cost of parts & labor for all of the recent up-grades which have been done to this truck would be quite high. I know this work has been done because I myself am a Ford technician so I am aware of all the components that can cause issue with these engines so the 1st thing I did after purchasing the truck was to take it to a Ford Trained Master Diesel Tech & have it checked out. He knew everything to look for & check to make sure that my truck would not be giving me problems in the future. I had him go deep into the workings of this engine. Since I planned to keep this truck & use it for my business, I was certain I would need to spend several grand making it a reliable, dependable, problem free 6.0 diesel. I was shocked at all my mechanic told me after he went through this F-350. First, he said that 2003 was the best year for the 6.0 & the one to have. He said they have no dummy plugs in the injector oil rails & no injector oil branch tubes. So, they are far less likely to develop a high-pressure oil leak. 2nd, after removing the valve covers he said that this engine was literally as clean as a new engine inside. He told me that it was easy to tell that the oil was ALWAYS changed on time in this truck. 3rd, he said he found that ALL 8 injectors had just been replaced with brand new up-graded injectors from Ford. 4th, he found that the engine oil cooler (also known to fail on these early trucks) had recently been replaced with Ford's redesigned, problem free version. 5th, he told me that the EGR valve too had been recently replaced by Ford's redesigned version. (Some people delete the EGR valve all together but doing so means that the truck will no longer meet Federal Emissions Standards). So I feel it is better that the previous owner replaced the valve with the up-grade rather than remove it. My mechanic felt that the above mentioned repairs had been done immediately prior to me purchasing the truck. Great news! All of those up-grades would have cost me a couple of thousand dollars, had they not just been done. But it was not all great news. He said that when he did a pressure test on the high pressure oil pump which fires the injectors, the pressure at the ICP was slightly less than 500 PSI. The pump actually puts out around 3000 PSI but the ICP steps all that pressure down to a perfectly constant 500 PSI in order to fire the injectors precisely every single time. If you are not familiar with this high pressure oil / injector system, those might sound like very high amounts of pressure. However, this oil pump is totally separate from the oil pump which lubricates your engine. This pump is solely dedicated to firing the fuel injectors & the constant 500 PSI must be maintained in order for the engine to perform properly. The truck was running fine but with all diesels..... there can be costly problems present without showing any real symptoms until it is too late. That is why I took the truck straight to an expert who I trust in the first place. After discovering the reduced pressure, the next step was finding the source. The most likely cause was a leaking ICP (Injection Control Pressure) valve. A common problem with 6.0's. This truck had not yet had the factory up-grade so I had one installed to headoff any future trouble. Turns out that the ICP was not the culprit. The next suspect was the IDM (Injection Drive Module), another common problem. It too had not been replaced with the factory up-graded version so I had one installed. Again, not the cause of the reduced pressure. However, the up-grade of both componets needed to be done in order to prevent future trouble. That left an O-ring at the pump or the high pressure pump itself as the problem. Since the early pumps were cast aluminum & known to fail, I had my mechanic replace the entire pump assembly with a Factory Ford redesigned, billet aircraft aluminum pump & up-graded O-ring. This corrected the problem & corrected it in such a way that there should never be another issue with the high pressure injection system on this engine. A few grand spent by the previous owner & a couple of grand spent by me & all of the most common problems owner's experience with 6.0 diesels have been corrected on this vehicle. It should provide you with many many many thousands of miles of reliable useage. I also had him inspect the remainder of the truck. From bumper to bumper. He scanned the on-board computer control systems. He did component contribution tests. He did a long, mixed driving road test. He even changed the engine oil & filter & set the air pressure in the tires. I left the truck with him for a month. I wanted everything checked. I wanted everything right. When I got to his shop to pick up my truck, Larry (my mechanic) said that this truck was mechanically flawless. He said that he had serviced & driven hundreds of these vehicles & that mine was one of the best kept, best running, best driving diesels he had ever encountered. This is a man I trust. A man who is known & highly regarded when it comes to Ford diesel repair. His statement on the wonderful condition of this truck means alot. I will be happy to provide the winning bidder with his contact information should you ever need any advice pertaining to this or any other Ford diesel. I also had Larry scan the trucks computer to make sure it had not been re-programmed or (chipped). Thankfully it had not! The 6.0 is a very high output diesel engine from the factory. They run extremely high compression in order to get so much power from a relatively small displacement engine. For this reason the 6.0 does not respond well to aftermarket performance parts. Basically they are already souped up & tuned, straight from the factory. When you start adding performance parts you end up damaging the engine. THIS 6.0 IS BONE STOCK! There have been NO performance parts added & NO programmers! The truck is just as the Ford engineers designed it to be. It's had all of the factory upgraded parts installed & EVERYTHING was done right! This Power Stroke runs just like new. It fires up easily even on the coldest of mornings. There is no stumbling. No abnormal noises. No abnormal smoke. No fluid leaks. No blow-by. No problems of any kind. This low mileage diesel runs smooth & strong all day long. Many parts has been replaced & upgraded. This is a Bullet Proof 6.0 Power Stroke! You should get many years of trouble free service out of this one. Ford totally redesigned their automatic transmissions for use behind the 6.0 Power Strokes. The transmission in this truck is a true 5 speed automatic & far superior to the automatics of previous years. This transmission also has the optional TOW/HAUL setting. This is a must have when towing any trailer. It works very similar to an exhaust brake. Basically the transmission does not free wheel or coast when in tow/haul mode. Instead it electronically selects the proper gear & stays engaged in order to use the engine's own back pressure to slow the vehicle. It works great! This feature makes hauling any load much more controllable & thus much safer. These transmissions are a vast improvement over previous years. You simply never have trouble out of one of these automatics. This one shifts just as it should through all gears including neutral & reverse. There are no slips, no leaks, no problems. The Super Duty anti-spin rear end is quiet & tight just as it should be. The front end assembly is equally quiet & tight. Since this truck is equipped with the optional electronic shift on the fly four-wheel drive system, the front locking hubs have an auto-locking & a manual locking setting. Both work perfectly. The 4X4 transfer case shifts just as it should through all 2wd & 4wd settings. EVERYTHING is nice & tight. It is very easy to tell that this F-350 has not spent much time in 4wd at all. Even though this truck is a TRUE FX4 edition. Many people simply put the FX4 decals on their vehicles for asthetic purposes. But this is the real deal. It has the full, factory installed Rancho suspension package which is listed on the options list of the window sticker & clearly visable under the truck. The steering & related components are all nice & tight. All of the front & rear suspension components are nice & tight. This truck drives straight & true. There are no signs of wear. There is no wandering. There are no vibrations. The 4 wheel, anti-lock braking system stops this big vehicle smooth & fast. The brakes do not pulsate or pull. This truck runs & drives just as good as it looks.... very much like new! Driving this F-350 is nothing like the you would expect driving a truck as large & capable as this Ford would be. It is very smooth & extremely quiet! More like driving a luxury car than a work truck. I am a factory trained Ford technician myself. I worked at both the #1 & #2 volume Ford dealerships in America before going into the classic car restoration business. I have owned several 6.0 powered trucks & have gotten excellent service out of all of them. I recently sold my 2004 6.0 powered F-250 to a very close friend. At the time I sold it to him it had nearly 250,000 miles showing & was still very much like new inside & out. It never gave me any trouble at all & is giving him trouble free service everyday as well. This 6.0 powered F-350 has less than 160,000 miles showing & is also still very much like new. I can find nothing wrong with the truck at all & neither can my Ford Diesel Expert! BODY & PAINT- As I said, this is not your average F-350. Most of these trucks were painted Work Truck White, or black, or red & there are a few green vehicles running around. But not many this particular shade of green. This beautiful Ford was born Medium Highland Green. If you are an old car buff or a Steve McQueen buff, you will know that Medium Highland Green is also known as Bullet Green! The color of Steve's 1968 Mustang Fastback in the movie Bullet. It's a very mossy metallic shade of green which gives this truck a classy & unique yet rugged & woodsy feel. Normally you would expect a vehicle of this type to be covered with dents, dings & scrapes by the time it's a few years old. Not this one! The fenders are perfect. The hood is perfect. All four doors are perfect. Every body panel is as straight as a string! There is little more than a handful of tiny, fingernail sized blemishes anywhere. Again, it is easy to tell that this truck has been pampered & never worked out of. The only noticable flaw on the entire vehicle is a shallow, 4 inch long depression located on the very front edge of the truck's bed, on the passenger side. It is so minor, I didn't even notice it until I pulled an Auto Check on the truck & noticed it had sustained MINOR side damage from another vehicle. I went out & started looking for evidence of repair & noticed the depression. It appears the the person driving this Ford tried to change lanes to the right, or the person driving the other vehicle may have came left into the lane occupied by this truck & got their driver's door mirror stuck in the gap between this truck's cab & it's bed. It is very very minor. There was no real paint damage. No paint or body repairs have been made. The original owner of this great looking truck just left it. As you can see in the pictures... the little imperfection does not take away from the looks of this beautiful Ford & had I not mentioned it & posted a close-up photo, most of us would never notice it. It's very superficial. There have been no other incidents involving this vehicle. I am a trained paint & body man & own a small street rod shop. I have went over every inch of this truck & can say with certainty that there has been NO PAINT or BODY REPAIR ever! All of the Highland Green paint you see on this vehicle is original & very much like new! Granted, there are a handful of very superficial scrathes present but I believe they would disappear with a good detail. I did nothing more than hand wash & dry this Ford & just look how it shines! There is no wax on this Ford & you can still see the reflection of everything around the truck, from the trees, to the buildings, to the lines on the road. You can even see my reflection in a few of the shots. Just imagine how it would look with a professional clean-up. It's easy to tell that this truck has always been garaged. There is no oxidation on any of the lenses or trim. All of the rubber & weather stripping is soft & supple. The paint shows no signs of fade or sun damage. It's just a SUPER nice truck! Since this is an XLT Lariat it has a chrome front & rear bumper, factory front fog lights, dual tow hooks & chrome grille trim. This truck also has factory tubular, stainless steel, running boards & factory roof clearance lights. The truck has lived it's entire life right here in Central Georgia so there is no rust or corossion on anything.... anywhere. * This is a TRUE auction! * NO RESERVE! * Low starting bid! * You set the final price! * Bid what you think the truck is worth to you! * If you are the high bidder at the end... YOU WIN! TITLE- I have a clean, clear, fully transferable GA title on this vehicle. I own a small street rod shop & I intended to use this truck for the business & purchased it in my business name. This means that the sale is just like that on one of my streetrods. If you are an out of state resident you will only pay your winning eBay bid amount. You are exempt fron GA state sales tax. If you look at my feedback comments you will see that all of the REAL buyers have been very happy after dealing with me. Many of the comments are from people who have been very happy with diesel trucks they have bought from me. SHIPPING- Shipping costs & arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. However, I have assisted buyers & their shippers in the pickup of several vehicles over the years. I can recommend several shippers who have performed well for buyers in the past but you will have to make your own arrangements with them. I will work with you & your shipper so that they can get this truck to you as fast & cost effectively as possible. However, no matter where you live or how you choose to pay, the legal point of sell will be here in GEORGIA as that is where I live & where the vehicle is located. As always, you are more than welcome to pick this vehicle up in person. I will be more than happy to pick you up at the Atlanta Airport or local Amtrac station, free of charge so that you may drive this truck home. I have sold many vehicles to overseas buyers & have no problem with that. However, I do ask international / overseas bidders to contact me prior to bidding. This F-350 is truly a rare find. The fact that it is a life long Southern vehicle & a one owner vehicle means that you don't have to worry about rust or rust repair & you can bet that the truck has been well cared for over the years. Then add in the fact that this is a single rear wheel, four door access cab, short bed 1-ton which is loaded with options. All of these things add up to make this the perfect truck for just about any task. Whether it's working around the house or on the job site.... Hauling your boat to the lake or camper to the mountains.... Towing your race car trailer to the track or your 2 / 3 or 4-car trailer across the country.... This Ford will get the job done efficiently & in total comfort. I wish I could keep it. I know I won't find another one like this. But, I already have a very similar 2002 model that I have a fortune tied up in. That truck has a 7.3 with many mods & it is not nearly as powerful, not nearly as quiet, not nearly as tight & doesn't get nearly the miles per gallon as this bone stock 6.0 powered truck! All of the problemtic 6.0 issues have already been addressed by a truly knowledgeable Ford tech. I'm really sad to see this rare truck go. But, on the bright side, you are going to get a great truck at a small fraction of the cost of a new one. This Ford will handle the toughest of jobs with ease & still get better fuel mileage than a Toyota Tacoma! When you are not using this truck as a hauler, it can easily be a daily commuter. It's not too big & bulky. This truck is very comfortable to drive every single day. The 6.0 Power Stroke offers plenty of pep & excellent fuel economy. Just an all around great truck. And they just don't come any cleaner than this! It's easy to tell that the original owner loved this truck. I love this truck & I'm sure you will love it too! Thanks for your interest. I hope you win! JD This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.
