Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1987 Mercedes Benz 560 SL Convertible I have been asked by my family to help settle the estate of a deceased relative by selling this 1987 Mercedes Benz 560 SL convertible. I have sold only one vehicle here on eBay and it was a good experience so I am listing the car here and, hopefully, it will find a buyer that really appreciates the 560 SL’s and that it will find a good home. I will try to describe the car accurately as I would not want the buyer to have any surprises when they come to pick it up. I am starting the bidding at a low price for this car and offering it with no reserve. I am confident that the buyer community here on eBay will find the right sale price for this special car. This 560 SL is finished in Mercedes’ Nautical Blue Metallic with a blue top and interior. The car comes with the original hard-top. All glass is free of any cracks, chips or “clouding”. The hard-top has no dings or dents. All options and features on this car operate properly WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Everything works as it should. I have been through this car from end to end and have taken pains to make sure that EVERYTHING WORKS. The buyer of this 560 SL will have no disappointments from mechanical or electronic failures. After combing through the car last fall, the last thing I did was have a new Massachusetts State inspection sticker affixed to it. It passed State inspection with flying colors. The car has always been garage kept and it shows. It is only outdoors since I went to pick it up last week to drive it from the Boston area to my home on Cape Cod. Again, the car ran without any fault and I went through all systems again to ensure that everything was operating properly. I will make sure that the car is again washed and waxed before the new owner arrives to pick it up after the sale. I have owned a number of Porsches and Audis over the years and this Mercedes 560 SL is in very, very good shape for its age. There are only a few very minor “dings” on the car, one on the left-front wheel arch and another on the chrome rear bumper. They are really tiny and do not detract from the car. Otherwise, the fenders, doors and front & rear hood are “ding-free”. The car does not have any issue with the paint finish. It is clear and shiny. There is no discoloration from sun fading or other issues. It really is quite beautiful. When I was asked to assist with this sale last fall and noticed that there were a few things not “quite up to snuff” on the car and went about having these issues properly repaired. First up, the right-front brake caliper had an issue of sticking occasionally. I had the entire caliper unit replaced rather than just rebuilt. The brakes pull the car to a stop quickly and in a straight line. There were two small holes in the convertible top. They had developed in a place that is common for damage near the forward hinge joints. As the rest of the top was in really great condition with a clear rear plastic “rear window”, II had a specialist shop effect a professional repair on the top and it now looks great and is leak free. The car comes with its original owner’s manuals and the Mercedes’ top removal and installation tool. The hard-top comes off easily and the convertible top operates properly with no issues. The tires show very little wear and the alloy wheels show no evidence of "curb-rash". I am a person who shies away from hyperbole when it comes to selling anything but this car really is in wonderful condition. Currently, it has only 93,178 miles which is very few miles for the year. It will garner a few more miles before the sale as I want to go top off the gas tank for the next owner. I would think that you would be hard pressed to find ANY issue with this car. Bid with confidence. If you are looking for a time-capsule of a 560 SL, this is it. There are no surprises in store for the next owner. This Mercedes looks great, everything works, spring is here and summer is right around the corner. I have started the bidding at a low value for the car and am not putting a reserve on the sale. I am sure that the market here on eBay will find the right price. If you are bidding, you are actively engaged in trying to buy this car. If you are a bidder with no intention of completing the purchase of this car, I will unmercifully crucify your feedback score and engage in any legal activity to make your life miserable. If you have no intention of completing the sale, don’t bid. As always, if you are from Nigeria, want me to sell you the car outside of the auction or have some other scam that you are considering, I have one bit of advice. Don’t. I have little tolerance for fraudsters and will hunt you down and make your life eternally miserable. Really, I will. If you have any questions about the car, please email me them through eBay and I will do my very best to answer the questions for you. I expect a $1,000.00 deposit thorough Pay Pal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The remainder of the sale price will be made in Certified or Bank Check or via ACH transfer to my bank account. I will also accept cash payment from the buyer when they come to pick up the car after the sale. The title will be delivered to the buyer only after your bank check or other certifiable funds clear my account. Thank you very much for considering this 1987 Mercedes Benz 560 SL as your next car and good luck in bidding!
