1996 Chevy Suburban - Hummer H1 KIT This is ( was ) a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban. I have owned it since NEW. It It was a 3/4 ton 2500 series, with a 7.4liter ( 454) GASOLINE engine with 4 wheel Drive 4X 4 ( Hi and Low) and it still ran great with approximately 150,000 miles on it. I take great care of all my vehicles. But one rainy day, the truck slipped and tipped into a ditch and Insurance Company sold back to me for savage price due to body damage. The sad part was I loved the truck and it still ran great. It says salvage on title but is clear and registered since 2000. My neighbor showed me this HUMMER Kit in a magazine and said "HEY!. look what you can build". Well that was 10 years ago. I had it built and it was on the streets in 6 months and still have things to do on it but it basically sits around except for the run to the store once in a while. Please take a look at the pictures and let me know if you have an interest. It is custom and the only one like it. YES, It has a custom CRACKED looking paint job that looks like stone with cracks and rust dripping out of it. It is a head turner and everyone always is pointing at it as I drive down the street. The doors can lift right off if you wish the open door look. The seats are adjustable jeep style. There is big time room in the cab. Much bigger than a real hummer. I added a foot to the KIT body because of the bigger 454 engine in the front and to allow for the 40 gallon gas tank I wanted to keep in the rear of the truck. Mechanically and electrically it is still a standard 1996 Chevy Suburban. I wanted to add a roof rack and light bars but never got to it. I kept it in the mountains at my cabin for a second car for a few years. The 4 wheel drive worked great and the tires have very few miles on them. The Tire size is 35 x 12.50 R 16.5LT. And I also have a brand new set of Snow chains for these tires that have never been used. It fact, the truck has only a few thousand miles on it in the past ten years also. I have had it smogged tested and it has passed several times if you live in California like I do. Like all project cars, there is still things I want to do and could go on forever. MAN FUN This Vehicle is ONE OF A KIND. Originally URBAN GORILLA made the body and I believe it was their last one since they sold their company. They gave me the raw body then I customized and added to it to make it work for my type of truck. I was the ONLY 454 3/4ton with 4 wheel drive truck chassis they had a order for. The wagon style body is all metal and It is reinforced around the bottom with double layered diamond plating and the 1/4" pipe between the wheels it for extra protection and strength. The rear of the truck has double layered aluminum diamond plating also that is all bolted in place. The side doors are fiberglass with aluminum diamond plating in the middle panels. With the doors open, the doors can be lifted off. The 2 back doors are metal and are barn type opening. The windows are made of windshield grade glass and are cracked to match the paint job. It has air conditioning and heat but I have not finished all the vents. I added the old suburban dash board for my instruments and electronic controls . I have not added a stereo system yet. It is fun to drive and it is BIG. It is a kit car and can be a lot more fun and more to do. You will not find another one like it. It is currently registered with a clear title. I am selling because I have too many other project and this truck just sits. Sad Please ask anything you like.
