Vehicle Detail
This is a true “SS” 4-speed car. Body tag reads; First line – 12B or 8 4513, Second line – 66-13817 KAN 3934, Third Line – 763-B color code Y-Y Fourth line – 2LGR. This was a running driving car before I took the motor out, it developed a bad rod knock so I pulled it and disassembled it. The 396 is not the original block, however it is the correct year (cast #3855961) (block stamp Id# TI2I0IGR). I found that two lobes on a huge isky cam were almost flat and the metal had taken out the main and rod bearings. All the journals are in good shape, the block is standard bore, but the crank had been turned once before and needs to be again. There is some minor bondo in the passenger side rocker, and quarter panel, and also the rear pan above the bumper. The hood has a small bow in the driver’s side from being closed on a screwdriver, but can easily be worked back; it also has surface rust as you can see. The floor under the driver’s feet has a small hole and the trunk pans are pretty much swiss cheese which was common for this year. As you can see I have new trunk pans, trunk supports, and tank straps. The rear trailing arm bushings were replaced as were the front buckets and carpeting. The rear bench needs to be recovered and there is some minor mildew in the interior. The Muncie M-20 is in good shape, I was told it was freshened a year or two before I bought it, and there was only handful of miles put on it since. Those rocker panel trim pieces are still in the GM wrappers, as are two of the four fender well pieces (NOS). Those hood inserts are originals and in great shape, along with all the glass (just dusty, no clouding or cracks). The bumpers and stainless trim will shine again with some cleaning. About the only thing this car needs is a few miscellaneous trim and badge pieces, a knee knocker tach, a counsel clock (there is a SUN TACH in its spot now), an original shifter, some weather stripping, and to be finished. This is a very solid car, and has a clean Wisconsin title. I’m a full time student now so I don’t have the time or money to finish it, and I’m losing my storage, it needs to go, I WILL NOT PART IT OUT, so don’t even ask. I can email you more pictures if you want, and this car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due at the end of the auction via pay pal and the balance I would prefer in cash or a certified cashiers/bank check, no personnal checks. The winning bidder must be able to pick it up locally or arrange for shipping, I cannot deliver and will not ship. This car sells “as is”, you won’t be disappointed with this car, and I really hate to see it go. This is the one, build how you like. Feel free to email me questions and Good Luck!
