Selling a hard to find 1983 Rabbit GTI, This is being relisted because the car now is running after buying a fuel distributor. Short history about the model: The 1983 VW Rabbit GTI was the car that started the pocket rocket revolution and though it looks like the other 1980-84 rabbits. The GTI only shared the body panels of other rabbit, everything else was only available on this 2 year only model. The engine is a 1.8, 8v sohc, close ratio 5 spd manuel transmission, heavy duty front & rear factory sway bars, larger factory 9.5 vented front disc brakes, only factory rabbit with 14" wheels because of the bigger brakes, the interior options were either red or blue that wasnt available in any other factory rabbit or caddy The GTI model was the only model rabbit with recaro type seats and center console(sadly mine is missing). Also the only rabbit model that had a rear wiper/sprayer. the pros are: 4 rabbit gti 14" wheels and good tires. All VW factory glass, perfect windshield, functional rare optional side vent windows. Both doors, rear hatch, glovebox and ignition uses the same key. front & rear euro bumpers All VW and GTI badging is present and good condition No bondo present Has header, 2.5 exhaust, rare "nuespeed" throttle body New radiator and working fan and shroud has original Steering wheel & shift knob in good condition Dash has NO cracks all headlights, blinkers, taillights, side mirrors are present and in good shape door panels are in good shape front speaker panels are present and in good shape all rear side panels are present and in good shape. all 4 fender flares are present and in good shape rear seat is present and good shape front and rear seat belts are present and latch no cuts or hole in original gti dash panel all body side bumper stripes are present gas cap (nonlocking) and unleaded fuel warning on body is present no rips in passenger seat Problems I know of : 3 problem rust areas on the body, one at the driver side lower rear, second and third are under the jack points behind the front wheels. The front wipers present but the teeth on the motor are striped , rear wiper is not striped worn window gaskets Horn doesnt work, I bought a relay but never installed it driver side seat is torn and some plastic hinge covers are broke or missing on both front seats original center console and gauges are missing, I do have a new original shift boot, not installed Front windshield wiper bottle and hoses are missing (rear wiper bottle is present) window cranks are not original (wrong color and from a later model golf) headliner is incorrect (its black) rear speaker panels and deck are incorrect (its black) driver inside mirror control bezel is missing small crack in original gti grill the red body pin striping is missing front blinkers are not working, bad ground If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.
