However, by the late 1970’s they had really stepped up the cosmetic quality of the paint, aluminum, chrome and instrumentation on their motorcycle offerings. I have found a rare gem here. It is just like looking at a time machine! This one is in outstanding condition, just look at the closeup pictures. The engine is so clean you could eat off it. The entire bike is drop dead beautiful. All electrics click, beep and operate as they should, and the tires have excellent tread. . It starts easily runs silky smooth and settles down to a nice low idle. The CX 500 Honda is legendary in its engine performance. In England it is reported they are used as part of the taxi fleet--often showing over 200,000 miles on the odometers! The engine is smooth running, water cooled, and it runs like silk. I just took it out of storage, put new gas in it and it started right up. I took a new youtube video of me starting and riding it today. Email me and I can send you a link. I did find a couple of issues after storage. The right mirror is cracked-- must have been with the cold/warm temps. The rear brake works ok but it is near the end of its adjustment, and may need new brake shoes soon. The the horn is not working, not sure why. Otherwise this is a great bike. It had not been started since last summer and it fired right up and runs cleanly at all rev ranges. In the pictures shown there are no rider footpegs. I should have taken new pictures. It now has stock footpegs with rubber which can probably be seen in the videos of me riding it.
