Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my fathers’ 1980 Chevy El Camino SS Royal Knight. It is 100% original and super solid. It has the original 305 V8 with factory aluminum intake with 4-bbl carb, HEI distributor, power steering, power brakes, A/C and Turbo 350 automatic transmission –runs, drives and shifts good. It has 125,081 actual miles and probably is due for a tune up. Has newer (July ‘09) dual exhaust with turbo mufflers which sound “mellow” but not too loud. The body is straight and nearly rust free with only a few small door dings here and there and some bubbles just starting to form on the RR lower front quarter (see pics). There is also a small crack in the fiberglass nose piece (see pics). It has the original paint and is the original burgundy color with Royal Knight stripes – no hidden body work. The drivers’ door could use adjustment and probably hinge pin bushings as it is starting to sag a little. The interior is decent, seat has some cracks on the edges, dash has a few typical cracks but all is useable as is. SS gauges all work except the clock. It has a newer (March ’09) Panasonic am/fm stereo CD with speaker in the rear compartment. Wheels are original and include all caps and trim rings. It has 215/70R14 Hercules HP4000 white letter tires which are less than 1 year old and deep in tread. New battery in Feb ’11. Overall a good car that is driveable as is, or a great foundation for a restoration or custom project. Clear Kansas title in mine and my fathers’ name. If it weren’t for his loss of eye sight due to diabetes, he would not even consider selling it. Here is a list of things he had me jot down that he knows it needs: (valve cover gaskets, plugs & wires, cruise lever is broke (but works), clock doesn’t work, a/c works but leaks out Freon after a couple months, tilt steering joint needs tightened up, headliner sagging). Vehicle is being sold AS IS. Buyer is responsible for own transportation. $500 deposit due within 72 hrs of auction end – balance due upon pick up or within 7 days whichever comes first. If you don’t intend on paying & completing purchase, please don’t bid – serious buyers only. If you have any questions or need more pics, please send me an e-mail or call me at 620-330-6815.
