Vehicle Detail

Mr. Walters special ordered and purchased this RX-7 brand new on October 17th, 1981 at Longview AMC-JEEP-RENAULT and MAZDA in Longview Washington. It was a gift for his wife. I have all original documentation including the factory window sticker. Final cash price (no financing) was $15,092.20 which included $992.00 in tax and license. All books, manuals, purchase order, brochures, payment receipt and warranty packet are still in the glovebox in the original dealerships plastic folder. It is the top of the line GSL model with all available options including the leather package and all power equipment. The 25,529 miles are true and correct. Upon the passing of the original owners the car was given to their daughter. It has always been kept in the garage and never smoked in. The body, paint, interior and mechanicals are excellent. The car shows little to no wear and very gentle use. There really isn't much else that needs to be said but for those that prefer the longer version, here it is: Body and paint condition is exceptionally nice. The Sunbeam Silver Metallic paint holds a very good shine. The family was honest and shared with me that a fender-bender occured many years ago in the Mall parking lot that impacted the right front. The repair and repainting was professional and nicely done. There is no fading or tarnish anywhere on the exterior body panels or trim. All exterior trim, both bumpers, emblems and light lenses look like new. All plastic items are bright and appear as new. All rubber seals and moldings are soft and also look like new. The glass still looks new as well. This car has seen very little daylight. The doors, hood and hatch open and close perfectly. I don't think the sunroof had ever been opened before I took these photos. A time capsule in many ways. One of the nicest first generation RX-7's anyone will find. The interior needs no written description. It is as near perfection as possible. Nothing shows wear. The factory leather seats are glove-soft. All knobs and switches look as if they've never been touched. The plastic on the gauge cluster and trim around the heater controls, etc, is crystal clear. The door panels, carpet, headliner, back side of sunroof panel, entire dashboard and cargo area are all MINT. One look inside the car and condition is obvious. Everything functions correctly. All electrical equipment, power windows, power mirrors, power antenna, cruise control, lights, rear wiper/defroster, etc, operate flawlessly. The factory air-conditioning is ice COLD. The original AM/FM stereo plays perfectly. I have not tried the cassette player other than to plug in my iPOD adapter. The interior and all of it's components are near showroom new condition. Drivetrain and mechanicals are outstanding. The factory and original 12A Rotary engine performs superbly. She always starts immediately even after sitting ignored in my garage for long periods. Simply pull the choke lever and turn the key. The 5 speed transmission and clutch function perfectly. The steering, suspension and brakes also operate perfectly. There are no excuses to make. The car starts, runs, accelerates, shifts and handles beautifully. Not one drip under the car on my garage floor. There are no squeaks, rattles, pulls or vibrations. The tires are almost new and I just had them perfectly balanced. The original tires had white lettering and the new ones do also but I prefer having the plain side out. They can be turned around for a 100% original appearance if so desired. No servicing required before a trip of any distance. She is mechanically top-knotch. I will make a few brief comments under a handful of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've rotated through and sold members of my collection. I am flattered by the nice remarks and compliments I've received. My opinions and observations have always guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and they may differ from your own. I welcome and encourage showing my Mazda in person to anyone with sincere interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. There are around 100 photos to view and I apologize if they start looking similar and you get dizzy scrolling through them. Silver can be a difficult color to photograph and it was my intention to show the car in as many lighting conditions as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM nad 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Monday evening, the 25th of April at 7:30PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. PLEASE, read my terms of sale located towards the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way.NO RESERVE AUCTIONI did not set a reserve price on my RX-7. The highest bid will be her new home. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see one week before this auction started. No photo has been enhanced or altered in any way. This is my car and these photos are true to her real-life appearance. Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thanks for your time, DAVE I only looked through the camera for a second. Here we are crossing one of Portland's bridges the day these pictures were taken. Even the factory black painted trim around the windows and roof line moldings are perfect and show no aging or fading. The entire tail-light panel and lenses are the nicest you'll ever see. Custom fit car cover is included. As I mentioned in the main description: The leather seats are in like new condition. They are still soft and show no wear. Steering wheel and the entire dashboard area are perfect. Floor mats have always protected the original carpet. It is perfect. The factory air-conditioning blows freezing cold. These are the actual miles. 25,529 The factory sunroof is removeable. This is the original case located in one of the rear storage compartments. These side panels are always marked up and scratched by hauling normal cargo over the years. NOT on this car. These plastic pieces are all mint! The car has always received excellent care and maintenance. Up to date on all service. Most GSL's came with the optional and desireable limited-slip rear differential. This car is no exception. Lightly undercoated when new and never exposed to salted roads or harsh de-icer chemicals and very rarely driven in the rain. VIN stampings and metal plates are in the correct locations. Original window sticker. There is even more literature and documents in the glovebox. The title is clean, clear and free of any incumbrances or branding of any kind. I have been collecting primarily American cars from the 1960's through the early 70's for 25 years now. I have appreciation for originality and condition. Even though this little Mazda is outside of my normal area of interest, my father purchased one brand new and I have owned several over the years. This is one of the best examples anyone will find. Thanks again for your time, DAVE Terms of Sale: 29yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my car honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. I have 100% faith in the drivability of my Mazda and to my knowledge everything is in excellent working order per my written description above. I have free and clear Washington title in my possession. I would drive this car anywhere but she is almost 30 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I have been using the same transport company for several years and they have handled my transport needs perfectly with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will gladly provide contact information for them at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast enclosed transport is around $1500.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD .
