1966 FURY III WAGON FACTORY ORIGINAL 440 FACTORY ORIGINAL 4 SPEED, POWER DISC BRAKES, NO POWER STEERING, NO ROOF RACK, JUST THE AM RADIO, TINTED GLASS & THAT COOL INLAND 4 SPEED SHIFTER STICKING OUT OF THE FLOOR! YOU WILL NOT FIND ANOTHER BECAUSE THERE ARE NO OTHERS KNOWN TO EXIST IN THIS COMBINATION. CHANCES OF SEEING ANOTHER LIKE IT ANYTIME SOON ARE SLIM TO NONE! THIS IS THE ONE, DONT MISS IT! THIS IS THE ULTIMATE IN HIGH PERFORMANCE MOPAR WAGONS.... 440-365 HORSEPOWER, 4 SPEED, 3.55 SURE-GRIP! Just when you think you've seen every Unusual Mopar pulled out of old Barns or Garages from all across the country during the Mopar Madness of the last decade, along comes something you've likely never seen before. This is one of the most unusual Mopar Wagon's that I have seen in my 35 years in the hobby and I would bet that this Fury III Wagon is the Only ONE of its kind. This 1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Wagon is a Factory built Original 440-365hp Factory 4 Speed car with Power Disc Brakes, Tinted Glass and an AM Radio which appear to be its only options(power tailgate window is standard on 9 passenger wagons only and works great). I have spoken to several Mopar experts and self proclaimed Guru's as well as many diehard Mopar enthusiast/Wagon enthusiast and none of them have seen nor heard of another 1966 Fury Wagon with a 4 speed Manual Transmission let alone a factory 440 4 speed Fury Wagon. This is one of those Special cars that Mopar guys as well as Wagon enthusiast will always remember as its a rarity for any Big Block 4 Speed Wagon to surface. Over the years, I have sought out unusual Wagons and I have had my share of cool and rare 4 Speed Wagons but never have I seen another 1966 Fury Wagon with a Factory 4 Speed. If you like these Cool 66 Fury Wagon's then it just doesn't get any better....1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Wagon with the 440-365 Horsepower engine with a Factory 4 Speed, in Original White Paint with Blue Painted Side Trim and a Two-Tone Blue Interior... No Roof Rack and No Luxury options or creature comforts in this Wagon outside of the Rare Optional Power Disc Brakes. This was the Introductory Year for Chrysler's Legendary 440 engine and 440 Powered Fury's of any body style for 1966 are quite unusual. Finding a 1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Wagon with the Powerhouse 440 and Chrysler's A833 4 Speed Transmission is just outright rare! Production Numbers on these cars are not known but you can be sure that this is absolutely a one off car and seeing another one is probably not going to happen. This is the REAL DEAL... ALL ORIGINAL AND SURELY AS RARE OR RARER THAN MOST HEMI CARS! This is definitely one of the Coolest Mopar Wagons that I have ever come across and undoubtedly one of the most unusual 60's Vintage Mopar Station Wagons Produced. This 1966 Plymouth Fury III Station Wagon is by all accounts the only one of its kind known to exist with its Factory 440 High Performance Engine and Factory 4 Speed Manual Transmission. This Fury Wagon was obviously Special Ordered for its Original Owner with its "J" Code 440 4 Barrel Engine Rated at 365 Horsepower with Factory Dual Exhaust along with its 4 Speed Manual Transmission complete with Original Inland 4 Speed Shifter and a 3.55 Sure-Grip 8 3/4 Rear Differential. This very Original 1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Wagon is equipped with its Original 440 engine, Original 4 Speed Manual Transmission, Original Manual Steering and Rare for 1966, Power Disc Brakes.... Tinted Glass and an AM Radio and that's about all in the way of options. The Original Drivers Side Vin Plate shows the car as a 1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Wagon equipped with the "J" Code 440-365hp engine and the Original Fender Tag is in place and shows the factory 4 Speed Transmission as well as the Color Codes and the Rare Power Disc Brakes. The Original Owner wanted a Fury Wagon that would run strong with lots of Power and obviously preferred the 4 Speed Floor shifted Manual Transmission and didn't mind the Manual Steering but wanted to insure that the Fury Wagon would stop with the Optional Power Disc Brakes! This Fury Wagon is wearing most of its Original White Paint and its Original Two-Tone Blue Interior. The Body is Exceptionally Solid and 99% rustfree with the only exception being a couple of tiny little spots on the lower quarter panel which are about the size of an eraser on the end of a pencil... barely visible. This Wagon still retains all of its Original Drivetrain parts except for the Carburetor which was replaced early in the cars life with another era correct Carter AVS Carburetor. The engine is the original "B 440" with an assembly date of "1 28 2" or January 28 1966 2nd Shift. The engine compartment appears to retain all of its original equipment from the radiator to the exhaust manifolds, Intake Manifold, etc etc... just a very original car! The engine was started when it was loaded onto the trailer that delivered the Wagon to my home from the previous owners home but I have not started the engine as I was told that the engine should be rebuilt. The engine is said to have a noise in the bottom end and I would just as soon rebuild it then chance hurting any of the original components. Thats just me. The engine may very well need something simple but I was content with the idea of doing a rebuild based on the cars originality and rarity. The engine is the Original "Born with 440" which is evident by its casting numbers, date codes and assembly dates which correspond perfectly to the cars scheduled production date. If your one of those guys that prefers the term "matching numbers" then this is a numbers matching car. The Transmission is the Original Chrysler A833 4 Speed Manual with the Original Inland 4 Speed Bench Seat Shifter with Lock-Out Reverse and Original Black Shift Knob. The Shifter is in excellent shape.. nice and clean with Beautiful Chrome and a very Nice Original Shift Knob and the shifter seems to works well going through all of the gears. The Undercarriage shows the car to have most of its Original exhaust system with the exception of one muffler that appears to have been replaced. The Pictures below clearly show the Original Fender Tag which shows the Factory 440 engine and the Original Optional 4 Speed Transmission. I also have photos of the original Vin Plate which shows the car as a 1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Wagon with the 5th digit of the Vin showing the "J" 440-365hp engine.... Still another photo shows the small parts Tag that was removed from under the Front Carpeting from J.P Stevens Co INC(manufacturer of the carpets used in Chrysler products) which shows the Blue Plymouth Dodge Chrysler BLUE 4 SPEED Carpeting which is also dated September 13, 1965... a very cool piece and an Original Assembly Line Inspectors Decal Number "13" was found attached to the corner of the Carpeting Tag. This is just vert stuff to find in such an interesting car. I didnt go any further to look for a Build Sheet but an Original Build Sheet may very well be found under the carpets, seats or door panels... who knows? Either way, the Original Vin Plate shows the Rare Factory "440" Option which was New for 1966 and the Fender Tag shows the "440" as well as the 4 Speed Floor Shifted Manual Transmission, Power Disc Brakes, AM Radio, White Paint with the Blue Painted Side Trim Inserts and the Two-Tone Blue Interior. Its as REAL AS THEY GET AND I WOULD GUESS THAT ITS THE ONLY ONE TO EXIST..... AGAIN WHO KNOWS? ITS SURELY THE ONLY ONE KNOWN AND ITS AS COOL AS THEY GET IN MY OPINION. The Body on this 1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Wagon is very good overall. There are some minor bumps and bruises typical of most 45 year old cars. The front fenders and hood each have a small crease across the front from where it appears to have been backed into at some point in its life. This is not by any means a big deal but nonetheless the fenders and hood will need these small creases or minor dents repaired and the front bumper and grill are tweaked but these pieces are plentiful & inexpensive and can be found on Ebay at most any time. I have a Pair of Super Nice Headlight Bezels along with some NOS Grill parts are included with the sale of the car. There are some other minor dings and such that will need to be gone over but nothing to get excited about. Im talking very minor dings or dents.... none that would require any panel replacement. One of the most impressive things about this Rare Wagon is the lack of rust and of course the fact that it retains its complete Original Drivetrain. This is by far one of the most solid Mopar Wagons that Ive seen over the years. This is an exceptionally solid and fairly straight old Wagon. I kind of like the look of the car just the way it sits with most of its Original Paint as it has that very Original look which can not be duplicated. The Floor, Frame Rails and Torsion Bar mounting areas are all rustfree and the undercarriage in general is as nice and original as you'd hope to find on such a unique car or any old car for that matter. There are no signs of rust in the Spare Tire Well which is in the Passenger Side Rear Quarter Panel where the Spare Tire stands upright..... absolutely no rust in the bottom of the well which is a rarity in itself. The original pinch welds on the Quarter Panels, Rockers, Rear Wheel Houses are all exceptionally nice with absolutely no rust issues. This is just a super solid Vintage Wagon! This Fury III Wagon's interior is complete and very Original although the California sun took its toll on the old Wagon over the years. The Interior is very original and complete including a Super Nice Original Instrument Cluster with a very Nice Original Blue Painted Steel Dash with its Correct AM Radio... all knobs and switches are intact and in good shape. The Front Bench Seat and Middle Seat will need to be gone over as the front Bench Seat appears to have received most of the sun damage over the years and the top of the middle seat is in need of covering from sun exposure. The front door panels will need to be restored or replaced while the rear door panels are decent originals. The Nice thing about the Door Panels is that they are the same as 1966 Fury III Sedan Door Panels and they can be found in good used condition if your patient or you can always have the Originals restored. The Kick Panels and Sun Visors are in nice original condition and the Original sectioned Dark Blue Headliner is pretty good overall although the second panel from the front will need to be replaced.....again a piece thats can be found as these are the same for most 1965-1966 Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler full size Wagons. The other Panels of the headliner appear to be serviceable and in original condition. There are some plastic pieces in the rear cargo area which are the same on all "C" Body Wagons for 1965-1966 which will need replacing because of their many years of sun exposure. They are not difficult to find and if you frequent any of the Mopar sites or ebay then there is a very good chance that you will find many of the interior plastic pieces needed from other enthusiast. The good thing is that there were approximately 20,000 Fury III Wagons made in 1966 including both 6 and 9 Passenger Models so finding these plastic pieces should not be difficult and keep in mind that most of these pieces are the same pieces used in most 1965-1966 Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler "C" Body Wagons. The interior is probably one of the easiest things to have restored in this Wagon as all of the Original Materials are available from several different vendors and let face it, the interior is likely the easiest part of any restoration...... especially with 20,000 1966 Fury Wagons produced for the 1966 Model year which certainly gives you plenty of good parts cars in which to seek out those little odds and ends. The Fury III Wagon would benefit from a nice restoration and this would be a very easy restoration if there is such a thing. The car is not rusty and retains nearly all of its Original factory installed parts which is a huge bonus when your going to restore any vehicle. Another nice thing about this Fury is that all of the 1966 specific pieces are on this car including the 1966 FURY ONLY " 440 " Hood Ornament with the RED 440 Callouts. The Fury III emblems on the Fenders are Absolutely stunning and were purchased from a gentleman who put them away in 1981... they are 1966 ONLY and are as Nice as NOS. Some other parts that are difficult to find in nice shape are the COMMANDO V8 Fender emblems which are also beautiful with stunning chrome and needing only the original RED Background paint touched up. An Original NOS Station Wagon ONLY Chrome Gas Cap comes with the car and will save the new owner $100 or so.. The Original Dash Pad is cracked from the many years in the California sun but I purchased a beautiful crackfree Original that will go with the car if the reserve is met. These Dash Pads are 1966 PLYMOUTH FURY Only and nearly impossible to find in nice condition. The Dash Pad that I purchased for this car is as nice as you'd ever hope to find and is still soft and pliable. I spent $500 for the Dash Pad. I also have some NOS 1966 Fury III Wagon parts that were purchased for this restoration and they will go with the car. These pieces include an NOS Rear Tailgate Finish Panel with NOS Taillight Bezel and Taillight Lense, NOS Grill Half, NOS Headlight Bezel and various parts to aid in a nice restoration. The only original pieces missing from this 1966 Fury Wagon are the seat belts and they are easy to find. In fact I just missed a complete set on ebay. These are readily available and relatively inexpensive. The 1966 Fury III Wagon also comes with its very hard to find "DISC BRAKE" Hubcaps which were used on 1966 & 1967 Only Dodge and Plymouth "C" Body cars equipped with the very Rare Power Disc Brake option. The Original Hubcaps are in good condition and will look great with a little freshening and polishing. These are very hard to find. The car will also come with the 15" Steel Wheels which were only available on these Wagons equipped with the Power Disc Brakes. I would imagine that the wheels would be very hard to find as well but they are still with the car. The Vintage Cragar GT Wheels and Original 1970 Vintage Polyglas Tires will not be included with the car. I just put them on because I love the look of the old school wheels and tires on these cars. Thanks again and read on for more information. Tony 215-499-2693 I have done my best to represent this Rare 1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Station Wagon as accurately and honestly as possible. Please call Tony 215-499-2693 I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime and for any reason without notice so I strongly suggest that you call me if your serious about this car. This is not a car that you will have another shot at... they simply do not exist! I have owned several Mopar Factory built 4 Speed Wagons over the last 30+ years but I have never seen another like this nor have I come across another 440 4 Speed Wagon of any year or body type. I have seen a 1964 Dodge Polara/440 Body Style Wagon with a 426 Street Wedge and a Factory 4 Speed and it was a very cool piece although it needed everything including much rust repair..... either way a super cool factory 4 Speed Performance Wagon. I have also seen a 1966 Dodge Coronet Wagon 361 Factory 4 Speed and it was a very cool car but it too needed everything. I guess the fact that these Rare Wagons have survived at all is in itself amazing considering that most Wagons were used to haul families around and then they often made their way to a Teenager who would beat them into the ground and on the rare occasion that they were not beat into the ground by a family or teenager, they were sold as work or Utility type vehicles for the local Handyman, Painter or Plumber. Most Wagons never had a chance! This Wagon survived by accident so to speak. This car was a one owner Wagon until sold to its second owner in 1973 and that gentleman kept it for 37 years knowing that it was a very unusual car. Wagons have become exceptionally popular over the last few years and very rarely will you see any Wagon with a Factory 4 Speed so take advantage of this Rare opportunity to purchase what is likely the only 1966 Fury III Station Wagon with its Original Factory Installed 440-4v engine 365 Horsepower and a Factory 4 Speed Transmission with the elusive Power Disc Brakes. Its Real and very Original. Thanks for looking. Tony 215-499-2693 If your seriously interested in this Wagon then please call Tony 215-499-2693 and I will be happy to go over the car with you from front to back and from top to bottom. If you need help with transporting the Wagon then I can help with those arrangements as I know several Reputable Insured Professional Auto Transporters who can deliver this Wagon to your front door at a very fair price. This car will be offered in other venues so if your serious about the car then feel free to call Tony 215-499-2693 and we can talk about a buy it now. Thanks again. On Apr-15-11 at 23:53:40 PDT, seller added the following information: For the guys that have asked about the condition of the body, well all I can say is that this is one of the most Solid All Original Sheet Metal Mopars that I have seen over the last 30+ Years! Its an exceptionally Solid car that is 99% rust free....It needs NO body panel replacement .... its super solid and rust is NOT an issue. It is also one of the most Original Wagon's that I have seen. Sure the car would benefit from some restoration and its worthy of a complete restoration in my opinion. There are NO others like this anywhere! If your a Mopar Wagon guy then it doesnt get any Rarer than this and if your into Rare and Unusual Mopars in general then it doesnt get any Rarer than this Wagon! THIS IS A REAL DEAL FACTORY ORIGINAL 440, FACTORY 4 SPEED FURY III 9 PASSENGER WAGON AND THERE ARE NO OTHERS LIKE IT ANYWHERE! NOW THAT MIGHT SOUND LIKE A FAIRLY STRONG CLAIM BUT I ASSURE YOU THAT YOU WILL NOT FIND ANOTHER ANYWHERE THAT WAS FACTORY EQUIPPED LIKE THIS VERY ORIGINAL 440 4 SPEED WAGON! I SAW ONE OF MY OLD 1972 FURY SPORT SURBURBAN BROUGHAM FACTORY SUNROOF WAGONS FOR SALE LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO FOR MORE THAN $40,000 AND ALTHOUGH THAT WAS A COOL CAR, IT WAS NOT EVEN IN THE SAME LEAGUE WITH THIS 66 FURY 440 4 SPEED WAGON. 440 HIGH PERFORMANCE 4 SPEED WAGONS JUST DONT EXIST! THIS IS THE ONE! IF YOU EVER WANTED A WAGON THAT WAS SUPER UNUSUAL AND WHAT I WOULD TRULY CALL "RARE" THEN THIS IS THE ONE! THIS CAR WOULD BE AN EASY RESTORATION OR YOU COULD EASILY MAKE IT A COOL DRIVER WITHOUT SPENDING A FORTUNE. IM AMAZED THAT GUYS WILL SPEND $20K FOR ABSOLUTE RUST BUCKET 71 CUDA 340'S WITH THE FRAME RAILS, QUARTERS, FIREWALLS, FLOORS AND TRUNKS COMPLETELY GONE OR SPEND $10,000 PLUS FOR SOME WRECK PLAIN JANE 1969 ROADRUNNER THAT RUNS AND DRIVES BUT NEEDS MAJOR BODY WORK AND A COMPLETE RESTORATION YET HERE IS ONE OF THE RAREST MOPARS THAT YOUR LIKELY TO SEE IN YOUR LIFETIME AND YOU GUYS HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT TO BID OR WHAT ITS WORTH... WELL, ITS WORTH WHAT SOMEBODY IS WILLING TO PAY FOR IT BUT I ASSURE YOU THAT THIS IS ONE OF THOSE CARS THAT WOULD SURELY BRING BIG MONEY RESTORED AND YOU CAN BET YOUR LIFE THAT THIS IS ONE OF THOSE CARS THAT MOPAR SPECIFIC MAGAZINES WOULD LOVE TO FEATURE. ITS JUST ONE OF THOSE VERY STRANGE ONE OF A KIND CARS THAT GOOD OLD CHRYSLER CORPORATION BUILT BECAUSE SOMEBODY WALKED INTO A CALIFORNIA PLYMOUTH DEALERSHIP AND ORDERED THIS VERY SPECIAL CAR AND WAS WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE FOR THE NEW FOR 1966 OPTIONAL "440" ENGINE AND THE VERY RARE "4 SPEED" TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS OPTING FOR THE FAIRLY RARE FOR 1966, OPTIONAL "POWER DISC BRAKES". THIS WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT OR A SALES BANK CAR. THIS WAS PURCHASED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER WHO DID HIS HOMEWORK AND WENT THROUGH THE AVAILABLE SALES LITERATURE AND SAW THAT HE COULD ORDER THE EXTRA COST "440 4 BARREL ENGINE RATED AT 365 HORSEPOWER" AS WELL AS THE EXTRA COST " 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION" .... THE ORIGINAL OWNER STEPPED UP AND ORDERED THE LARGEST ENGINE EVER OFFERED BY CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND WANTED A FLOOR SHIFTED 4 SPEED TO BACK IT UP. HE ORDERED THIS CAR LIKE HE WAS ORDERING A MUSCLE CAR ... 440 4 BARREL-365HP FACTORY DUAL EXHAUST , MANUAL STEERING, OPTION POWER DISC BRAKES AND AN AM RADIO FOR TUNES AND THE TINTED GLASS TO KEEP THE CALIFORNIA SUN FROM COOKING THE INTERIOR WHILE HE DROVE HIS SUPER COOL 1966 FURY III 440 4 SPEED WAGON! ITS THAT SIMPLE.... IT ONLY TOOK ONE GUY WHO KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTED AND WHEN HE SAT DOWN WITH THE SALESMAN AND CHECKED OFF THE BOXES FOR THAT VERY SPECIAL OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT, HE ORDERED WHAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE IN MID 60'S MOPAR HOT ROD WAGON AND UNDOUBTEDLY, THE ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND!!!! ORIGINAL WHITE PAINT, ALL ORIGINAL TWO-TONE BLUE INTERIOR .... MANUAL STEERING SO NO POWER ROBBING ACCESSORIES.... JUST THAT BIG CHROME INLAND 4 SPEED SHIFTER COMING OUT FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE FRONT FLOOR! NO ROOF RACK, NOTHING THAT MAKES THIS LOOK LIKE A MOM AND POP FAMILY WAGON. THIS IS ONE COOL CAR AND IF YOU WANT SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THEN I SUGGEST THAT YOU BID BECAUSE IF IT DOESNT SELL THEN I WILL BEGIN THE RESTORATION. ITS ALREADY OFF TO A GREAT START AS IT IS AN ALL ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBERS CAR AND IS 99%+ RUST FREE .... ALL ORIGINAL AND SUPER RARE WITH ALL OF THE COOL ORIGINAL 1966 ONLY PIECES STILL WITH THE CAR AND SOME GREAT NOS PARTS THAT GO WITH THE CAR... ORIGINAL FENDER TAG, BODY NUMBERS AND VIN TAG ARE ALL ORIGINAL AND CORRECT! IT JUST DOESNT GET ANY BETTER! THANKS FOR READING MY LONG-WINDED AUCTION BUT I AM VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT SUPER RARE EXTREMELY COOL CARS AND THIS IS ONE OF THOSE CARS. THANKS AGAIN... TONY 215-499-2693On Apr-17-11 at 12:35:15 PDT, seller added the following information: This is for the guys that are asking about the reserve and for the guys asking about trades.... the reserve is under 10k and will remain that way through the auction. I will not lower the reserve. As far as Trades go, well I would consider nice Original Turn Key 1957-1972 Mopars... love Finned cars and most A&B Body cars and would likely consider something thats unusual or a nice unrestored original???? What do you have? Another point I wanted to touch on. I have been asked many times about the condition of the Body and the Body is as solid as any unrestored original Mopar that Ive seen in years. The body is solid!!! It doesnt need any panels replaced....its not rusty!!! The Drivetrain appears to be 100% Original except for an era correct replacement carburetor. All Body Numbers, Fender Tag, Vin Plate, Date Codes, etc etc are correct and the car is extremely Original. One more thing that I will bring up but I certainly wont argue the point is that the car is said to have 9,799 Miles.... Yeah, I know, sure it does! Well all I know is that the car was ordered by its Original Owner with the specific purpose of Towing their trailer and apparently the Wagon did just that for several years and was then parked. Along came the Gas Crunch of late 1973 and the car was given away like many other big engined gas guzzlers of the era,,,,,,,afterall, this was a 7 year old Station Wagon with a Big 440 engine and they were rarely using the car. It was given away and may have ended up in the scrap yard if it were not for the vision of one man who knew that this was an unusual car. Keep in mind that many cars were sold for next to nothing or given away back in the Gas Crunch Days..... this was a common story back then..... Muscle cars and any car that was as they called them "Gas Guzzlers" and even Hemi cars were sold for a few hundred dollars....its just the way it was. Anyway.... The car was parked for the next 37 years and was always stored in either the owners yard, carport and occasionlly covered. Most of the bumps and bruises happened while in the longtime second owners possession and the interior was literally cooked from its many years exposed to the sun. I will not try to argue the point of this car having 9,799 miles ...... all I can say is when I look very closely as the Instrument Cluster, under Dash Wiring, Gas, Clutch, Brake and Parking Brake Pads, well they are not Pedal Pads that shows 109,799... no way. I have seen some strange cars end up being low mile cars in need of complete restorations over the years and most times they were not intended to be low mile cars....its usually something that happens by accident...something breaks, somebody dies or people just have no use for a certain car yet they dont want to part with them.... they sit and the years take their toll. Anyway.... for what its worth, I wouldnt buy the story of the car having 9,799 original miles either but I have seen some real low mile cars in need of far more than this Fury Wagon. For what its worth, I wouldnt dare try to convince you that the car has 9,799 miles. Its just another chapter in the life of this very unusual 1966 Fury III Factory 440 4 speed Wagon. I think the original owner of this 1966 Fury Wagon was a fairly smart guy and he did his homework before he ordered this Wagon. He found that Chrysler was now offering the 440 cubic inch engine for the very first time in 1966 which was the largest engine(cubic inch) making 365 Horsepower at 4400 RPM and 480 pounds of Torque at 3200 RPM.... This came right out of the 1966 Fury Wagon Sales Literature which will also come with the car. Anyway... the Original Owner sat down and ordered the Highest Horsepower Engine with the most Torque available in the 1966 Fury Wagon and he opted for the 4 Speed Manual Transmission. He did not order Power Steering yet he did order the optional Power Disc Brakes. He ordered the AM Radio to have some tunes to listen to while he drove the Fury and he ordered the Tinted Glass to keep the Hot California sun off of him while he was cruising along towing his trailer. The Bottom line is that this 1966 Fury Wagon was ordered just as some of us would have ordered a Muscle car in 1966. The Original Owner didnt order Power Steering nor did he order any other Power robbing accessories. He didnt even order the Full Wheel Covers or the 15" wheels as they were part of the Package when you ordered the Optional Power Disc Brakes. If the Full Wheel Covers were an Extra cost item then I think the Original Owner would have Passed on them.... they just happen to come with the Power Disc Brakes. The same goes for the Power Tailgate Window which was Standard on the 1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Wagon yet it was Optional on the 6 Passenger Wagon. If the Original Owner had to pay for that Power Tailgate Window, chances are he would have chose the Manual Window. Im just guessing of course but Im putting myself in the buyers position and Im thinking that this guy was a Muscle Car guy who wanted a Wagon with loads of Power and the 4 Speed, 3.55 Sure-Grip and in Basic White with the standard Full Vinyl Interior in the Two-Tone Blue which was NO extra cost and there were several Interior upgrades available. He chose the Basic White Paint with the Side Trim with the Blue Paint in its center.... Two-Tone Blue Interior.... What an Awesome Hot Rod Wagon and an Absolutely Gorgeous Color Combination of White and Blue! This car is Cool and Absolutely One of a Kind! Sure it will need to be restored if you want to make a real nice car but as it is, its a very Original and Extremely Rare Wagon with all of its Original Tags, Body Numbers, Original Fender Tag, Original Vin Plate, all Matching Date Codes and Correct Casting Numbers on the Original drivetrain....just as Cool and Original as they get! The car will come with the Steel Wheels and Original Disc Brake Wheel Covers and the NOS Parts that Ive mentioned in the auction and a MINT Dash Pad. This was ordered very much like a New Plymouth Buyer might have ordered a New 1967 GTX.... 440, 4 Speed, 3.55 Sure-Grip, Manual Steering, Power Disc Brakes and an AM Radio .... White with a Blue Interior... a Bare Bones Factory Muscle Car!!!! The Wagon is just that, a bare bones 9 Passenger Factory Built 440-365hp 4 Speed Muscle car! Thanks again for reading my rants.... I cant help myself as I love these Rare old Mopars! If your serious then dont miss your chance because I have no intentions of Offering this car again. I appreciate all of the kind emails, phone calls and your bids. Im glad that you guys appreciate this Super Cool Plymouth Wagon as much as I do. Thanks again... Tony 215-499-2693On Apr-18-11 at 00:04:04 PDT, seller added the following information: This will be my last revision to this auction so I hope that Im able to help you with any information that you need to make a well informed buying decision. This 1966 Fury III 9 Passenger Station Wagon is undoubtedly the only one of its kind between the very Unusual Factory Installed Optional 440 cubic inch 4 Barrel Carbureted engine making 365 Horsepower and the Extremely Rare Factory Installed Optional 4 Speed Floor Shifted Manual Transmission. Ive mentioned many times that this car was ordered like many Muscle cars of the era with Manual Steering and Optional Power Disc Brakes which were still quite rare for 1966. For those of you not that are not all that familiar with the 440 engine, 1966 is the very First Year for what would become Chrysler Corporations most Powerful engine and was often the standard engine on such Legendary Muscle cars as the 1967-1971 Plymouth GTX, 1967-1970 Coronet R/T 1968-1971 Charger R/T 1970 Plymouth Superbird 1969 Charger Daytona and it would be used in some of the Special Edition Muscle Cars such as the Gentlemans Muscle car, the 1970 Chrysler 300-H ..... it was also used in 1972-1974 Roadrunner GTX Models which are quite Rare as well as the 1972-1974 Charger Rally 440's. The 440 engine was the Top Dog outside of the 426 Hemi which was available only in certain Models and it was also an option that would set buyers back nearly $1,000 from its debut in Street form in 1966 until its demise in 1971. The 440 Engine was used in detuned versions in some of the larger Chrysler Products built througout the 70's but was never quite the High Performance version that was saw in its early years. The point to all of this is that this 1966 Fury Wagon is equipped with the first Year Optional 440-365hp engine which in itself is a bit of a rarity but mated to the Chrysler A833 4 Speed Manual Transmission, well its just unheard of. This is a very Special car! This Fury III Wagon has all of the things that I like or even look for in a good worthy restoration project from its Super Low Production Numbers which at this point, appears to be the only such car known to exist. It is a Factory 4 Speed which is also a Must Have for me when it comes to a True Muscle car or any Cool project for that matter. It must also be very Original and have a nice solid body and this car is exceptionally Solid and Amazingly Original. This car also has the Original Fender Tag which is a Must Have in my opinion as it proves the cars Options, Color Combination, Scheduled Build Date and most importantly for this car, the Factory 440 and the Factory 4 Speed! This car also has its Original untouched Vin Plate that clearly shows the 5th digit of the Vin Number as a "J" which denotes the 440-365hp engine which as we know was first available for the 1966 Model year. Another important thing for me when Im considering a car for either restoration is that it be very complete and very Original and especially when it comes to unusual One Year Only Parts and Drivetrain components. This car has all of its Original Drivetrain Components which have been confirmed with the only exception being the Carter AFB 4136S which was replaced early in its life by the Dealer. The replacement is a 1967 Replacement Carter AFB. Every other component is either date coded correctly or has the correct casting numbers along with the proper date codes and it is all Original to this car! This is a very Original car overall and not only has its Original Drivetrain but it also appears to be wearing almost all of its Original Hamtramck Michigan Assembly Plant Applied White Paint which was done back in early February of 1966. The only exception is the Tailgate which appears to have been painted very early in the cars life and as you can see the rest of the Original Paint still holds a Good Shine while the repainted Tailgate shows tired paint. The Interior is Complete although it needs to be restored or freshened up with new seat covers, door panels up front, Carpeting and some Cargo area plastic pieces will need replacing but this is the easy part in my opinion. The single most important thing about restoring this 440 4 Speed Fury Wagon is that you dont have to worry about rust repairs because the car is 99.8% rustfree. Sure there are some minor dents and dings but absolutely nothing that requires a single panel to be replaced on this car. The Drivetrain should be rebuilt like any other Factory High Performance engine thats not seen any real road time in nearly 38 years. The engine will start but will need to be looked at and likely rebuilt. I strongly suggest a rebuild although thats up to the New Owner. The car will need all of the usual stuff gone over for any car thats been stored for the last 4 decades so plan on going over and rebuilding all of the Brakes, Fuel Delivery from the Tank to the Carburetor. The car appears to have its Original Exhaust system with the exception of one Muffler that was replaced early on but its just so cool that this is still on the car! If you want a One Of a Kind Factory Built High Performance 4 Speed Wagon with a Wonderful Color Combination then this might be the car for you. One of the Super Nice things about this car is that you can actually do the necessary restoration and I believe you will always have a very desirable and extremely rare collector car. This is by all accounts the ONLY 1966 FURY WAGON WITH THE FACTORY 440 AND THE FACTORY 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION. IT DOESNT GET ANY BETTER IN MY OPINION. ITS A ONE OF A KIND CAR AND A VERY SPECIAL HIGH PERFORMANCE WAGON. The Cool pieces that are 1966 Only and 1966 Fury Only like the Beautiful Factory Original "440" Hood Ornament is on the car as are the Beautiful Fender Mounted COMMANDO V8 Emblems. The Fury III Fender Emblems are NOS pieces. The Rare Bench Seat Inland 4 Speed Shifter has Beautiful Original Chrome and the Original Lock-Out Reverse Triggers still work Perfectly while the Original Black Shift Knob still looks wonderful with the "H" shaped "4" Speed Pattern still looking quite Nice in the Original White. The Original Black Rubber Shifter Boot that attaches to the Beautiful Original Chrome Ring that screws down to the 4 Speed Floor Hump is also Super Nice... all of these pieces are very difficult to find in Beautiful Original condition but this car has them all and none of them need replacing or even restoring... they are Super Nice! The Original Clutch, Brake, Gas and Parking Brake Rubber Pedal Pads are all Like New and showing almost No Wear. The Instrument Cluster still shows very well and all Gauges are in Nice shape... Original AM Radio in place with correct knobs and correct Original retaining bracket. The car comes with an NOS Wagon ONLY Gas Cap in factory Chrome in the Original Chrysler Box and also comes with an NOS Grill Half in the Original Chrysler Box, also an Original Tailgate Finish Panel which is Fury III Specific with the Chrome surrounds and Original MINT Argent Paint in the Center along with the NOS Taillight which is part of this Finish Panel... all in the Original Chrysler Box. The car also comes with an NOS Headlight Bezel and an ABSOLUTELY MINT original Dash Pad which is absolutely Impossible to find and is also a 1966 Fury ONLY Item. The car will come with the Original Steel wheels and the Original DISC BRAKE Hubcaps. Does that tell you just how big a deal Power Disc Brakes were in 1966? Chrysler actually made a Hubcap that was standard for factory Disc Brake optioned cars! OK, well as usual Ive rambled on too long. This is just a Super Cool 1966 Fury III Wagon with the 440, 4 Speed, 3.55 Sure-Grip, Manual Steering, Power Disc Brakes, AM Radio, Tinted Glass, NO Roof Rack, standard Manual Drivers Side Door Mounted Mirror with the Twin Post and the Pentastar.....Bare Bones all Muscle Factory Built Wagon in a Stunning Color Combination of White with a Two-Tone Blue Interior. This will make somebody the Proud Owner of a seriously Rare and Exceptionally Cool Factory Hot Rod Wagon. Thanks again for reading my ridiculously Long Winded auction and even Longer Revisions but I want you guys to know what your getting. The Cool Factor is off the scale but the logistics of giving this a Nice Restoration are there.... its a wonderful and very worthwhile car to do. You will not see another. Thanks again... Tony 215-499-2693On Apr-18-11 at 21:48:32 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a great old car and absolutely as rare as they get when it comes to Wagons. The car has a super solid body but has some dings and dents but is very solid througout from top to bottom.... very solid for any year car but exceptionally solid for a 1966 Fury Wagon. The 440 and the 4 Speed are Original to the car and all drivetrain components should be gone over as the car has not been driven except onto a trailer and around the previous owners garage.... expect to rebuild all components to play it safe as this does have its original engine! The interior will need the usual stuff... seat covers restored, front door panels... comes with an absolutely beautiful Dash Pad that is nearly impossible to find. The interior is complete minus the seat belts but I may have a set to go with the car. The car is as cool as they get and its absolutely one of a kind. Its worthy of a restoration whether you would like to give the car a full restoration or just do the things to get her roadworthy again and do the rest as your time and finances allow. I think this car is as Cool as any Street Hemi car and maybe even cooler! The car deserves to be restored and needs it. Make this your next restoration or just put it on the backburner until you have time for it but dont miss this great opportunity. Thanks again for all of the great emails, calls and your bids.
