Vehicle Detail
1987 VW Scirocco 16V with no sunroof (no worries for leaks and SCCA autocross ready for those that have asked) I said I was not going to sell this one, I have owned 5 Sciroccos and this has been the best of them all, by far. Had planned on keeping it and restoring it fully to make it a show car, but thus the saga begins... The car will be an antique next year and 50 state C.A.R.B. exempt or emissions exempt, which gives tons of legal tuner or restoration options to the buyer. As it sits its 70-90% Original depending on how you look at it.and I have the original key AND the original window sticker. The basics:The Hood is damaged, and could be replaced to be 100% however the subframe/radiator support is fine, original, and does not warrant any repair to it. The OEM hood pins were converted to bolted hood pins with drilled holes in the OEM hood only This basically happened because, someone thought they were in reverse but they were in first and rear ended an SUV, there is a very mild crinkle to the OEM hood, which may be repaired by a good body person, but ideally should be replaced with an OEM hood to make the car 100% again if you go the restoration route. The existing hood is fine for a tuner build. It could use the following to be perfect: (I am very picky and it may be overkill, but I went over the car very thoroughly) Passenger Sunvisor Mount Hazard Switch Ashtray Overhead Light above rear view mirror has a small crack New rearview mirror New headliner overall there is normal wear and tear to interior It has the typical Scirocco dashboard cracks Could use some paint or a good wax and buff The rear wiper is flaky (could easily be repaired or removed, I never could decide the best course for repair) New style Fuba Antenna New stereo wiring and amp wiring, its old like early 90s old, but works just better stuff is out now The car does have some tasteful modifications but nothing major. Momo shift knob F16 in carbon fiber Momo alloy pedal set Techtonics Tuning Exhaust Neuspeed Short Shift kit Neuspeed Suspension Neuspeed Upper Strut tie bar Neuspeed Sway bars Neuspeed Springs Bilstein Shocks/Struts Import Tuning Rear Strut Tie bar Bosch 110AMP Alternator New Muffler OEM European bumpers front and rear European headlights Original tear drops wheels Alpine CD deck with Pioneer speakers (could use replacement of the OEM 4x6 size speakers) Kenwood Amp 400W Rockford Fosgate 10-inch sub in a Van Pass box Have original USDM headlights and turnsignals as well as USDM front and rear bumpers to be included with the sale of the car. IF you don't know much about these cars, then I encourage you to do your research. The Scirocco was always a rare VW performer but it is becoming even more scarce as time goes on. This will be an antique in 2012 and will continue to be a collectible worth the investment for a restoration. I'm just putting this one out there, as I know there are other's whom have better resources to restore this car and hope that someone will buy it to restore it. Should you have any questions please call me at 571-408-4136 or email through eBay. On Apr-13-11 at 11:22:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to add there is a new battery under the hood as well. The windshield was also replaced last year due to a crack, so its not original but all the other glass is original. The car was a one owner when I purchased it, it had been in the same family for all of its years. I do have additional pictures and can email them if interested, send your email in a question. There is a low reserve on the car, but due to the response of this posting and the number of phone calls today. I will be removing the reserve and making this a no reserve auction, so bid to win.
