PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS-AM - 1987 “RED ROCKET” This car was built for POWER and PERFORMANCE with beauty in mind. This is one of the hottest third generation F-bodies you’ll find, powered with a professionally built 406 ci small block Chevy. This engine has produced 486 HP and 514 ft. lbs. of torque on a super flow dynamometer and has spec sheets for validation. This engine has approximately 2000 miles on it. The top end includes; Cometic Head Gaskets, Canfield Aluminum Heads, Edelbrock Victor Jr. Intake Manifold, Barry Grant Demon 750 Carburetor, Howards Roller Cam and Lifters, Triple Valve Springs, Harland Sharp 1.5/1.6 Aluminum Roller Rocker Arms, MSD Pro-Billet Distributor, MSD 6AL Ignition Control Box, MSD Blaster SS Coil, MSD Plug Wires, Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator and Gauge, 14” Diameter x 4” High Round K & N Air Filter, Optima Battery with a custom made hold-down. The engine is cooled with dual electric fans and fed fuel with a rear mounted Holley electric fuel pump. One of the most distinctive features of this car is the radical sound it generates, the Edelbrock headers dump into a 3 in. T-304 stainless steel Borla cat-back system where it produces its distinct tone. If the neighbors complain about their windows rattling the sound can be can be adjusted by simply changing a plate in the muffler which allows the exhaust to run straight through, the system is finished off with a pair of 2-Piece round polished stainless steel exhaust tips neatly tucked up to the bumper cover, and to complement the rear of the car is a 4 in. fiberglass spoiler mounted to the hatch which is unique. Behind the 406 ci power plant is a Lakewood scatter shield, Centerforce clutch, and a Tremec TKO 5 speed transmission with new master slave assembly running the clutch. This engine and transmission spin four Kumho P245-45 R17” directional tires mounted on 17” x 8” Cragar SS wheels. The suspension consists of Eibach Sportline Lowering Performance Springs at all 4 corners and is lowered approximately 1.5” from stock to show a killer stance. The front of the car features a fiberglass cowl induction hood with four cut-outs per side, this area of cowl is painted black ending at the front of the hood. In some of the pictures you may notice a red window graphic blending in with the dark tint at the top of the windshield, this is adhered to inside of the glass with the words ‘RED ROCKET’. The finger tab on the fuel door has been shaved (removed) to fit the contour of the body to set it apart from others; behind it is a keyed fuel cap. There are lug locks at all four wheels. The T-top cross member and all T-top seals have been replaced with new. The interior features a new ABS head plastic liner wrapped in new matching material. The dash has a custom TAC and pillar mounted oil pressure and water temperature gauges. All interior is in very good condition. The stereo system consists of a JVC deck mount, running through a Kenwood amp pushing two 10” subwoofers neatly hidden away in the rear of the car topped with a custom made polished aluminum cover.
