Vehicle Detail

For Sale:This 1971 Cb750 started its life off as a very well maintained touring bike that really got around. The original owner took exceptional care of this bike and he documented all of his travels on the handmade trunk that you see in the photos. This is included with the auction and is a very unique piece of Honda motorcycle history, back when the Cb750 was king of the road. The trunk really adds a sense of nostalgia and only enhances the collectability of this Honda. I would easily call this bike a show quality survivor. You will have a very hard time finding a better bike that retains so many of its original parts. This is the nicest bike I would consider riding to a show or on weekends. I have been working on these old CB750’s for some time now and this is the best work I have done. I worked on and off over the past three years restoring it to the beautiful condition you see in the photos. I am taking some time off from riding for a while so I am offering this bike for sale so that someone else can enjoy her and all the work it took to get her to this level. I would rather someone else enjoy her than having it sit in storage. This bike stands apart from the crowd being so original and having such an great history. It is one of a kind and represents a very unique time in motorcycle history. I can put the winning bidder in contact with the original owner if you wish to discuss the bike and his history with it. This is by no means a “cookie cutter” restoration; this bike has tons of character and an amazing history. One like this doesn't come around often! Below is a link with more photos of the restoration process for your viewing pleasure.http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=87012.0 The restoration: I restored this bike, frame-off, using as many of the original parts as possible. Parts were cleaned, chrome was polished and mechanical parts gone through. The original parts and are in outstanding condition with just a little patina that lets you know they’re original. See photos for details. If you wanted to take this bike even further with more NOS parts, that is your choice. I just prefer to keep things original, the way they came from the factory. As anyone knows a vehicle with the original equipment is much more valuable than one that’s just a pile of NOS parts. The few NOS parts I did use were out of necessity. The seat had some tears so I did have to go with NOS for that. Parts were painted with professionally matched candy gold paint. For some reason the color in the photos looks a bit orange, it is indeed candy gold and a perfect match to the original color. Tank has the K1 only black stripe and new bottom tank trim. It’s a beautiful 9 out of 10 paint job. The engine was painted and hand polished to a satin finish. The engine ran great before the rebuild but it had a small oil leak so I rebuilt it base gasket up, all new seals, gaskets and valves lapped. It runs excellent now, sounds great, shifts smooth and has no leaks. I gave the bike a "shake down" run before listing it here and everything seems to be in great working condition. The bike also ran and rode great before I even started the restoration. Owner’s manual and tool kit are included. Important parts original to THIS bike include: -Original HM-300 exhaust in outstanding original condition -Original, K1 speedometer and tachometer -Original front and rear fenders -Original tank with no dents, no bondo, no rust inside, never sealed -Original side covers with K1 only red jewel badges -Original fork ears and headlight bucket -Original HM mirrors, brake cylinder and switch pods -Original engine, rebuilt top end, new seals, NOS screw set. -Original carburetors, rebuilt -Original rims and shocks NOS/New parts include: -NOS K1 Seat and latch -NOS engine screw set (a little detail that makes a big difference in appearance) -NOS rubber fork gaiters -NOS bottom gas tank trim -NOS passenger peg rubbers -NOS chrome rear grab bar -NOS carburetor to air box rubber boots -NOS throttle cables -NOS Tachometer and Speedometer cables -New points, plugs, filter, chain, air filter, high quality “Magna Power” brand sealed battery -New tapered roller bearings in steering stem- “All Balls” brand -New engine gaskets and seals, HD Cam Chain and Tensioner/Roller/slider assembly -New fuel lines -Fresh oil and DOT 3 brake fluid One of the right exhaust pipes is a HM-341, it was dealer replaced back in the late 1970s but is also in amazing shape. The front fender has a running light from the original owner but I think it suits the bike well and adds character. The original owner mounted a bracket for his luggage trunk to the rear of the frame, it is hidden from view with the seat down and only slightly visible behind the rear signal mounts so I didn't worry about it. The rear shock springs have light pitting, I opted to stay with the originals but NOS are readily available. The original owner hand painted the gauge faces white, if you do not like these I can swap the faces out for a set of new factory green K1 faces I bought just in case. It’s all personal preference. I’ll do what I can to make the bike to your taste. The rear tire has some small cracks, I would get new tires to be safe. I was not trying to be cheap but thought it was best if whoever buys it has their choice of tires. I highly recommend Bridgestone “Accolade” vintage style tires for appearance and handling. They are what I rode with on my old Red Cb750K1 for 5 years and are excellent tires. Payment/Pickup: Clear title is in my hand, will also provide a bill of sale if requested. A $250 non refundable down payment via Paypal is due at end of the auction. Complete payment is due within a week, I prefer cash but a certified bank check or money order is fine. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I can store the bike for up to 2 weeks but complete payment is still due within 1 week. I am going to say this is for sale to the lower 48 states only but if any international buyers want to bid you MUST contact me first and I will consider it on an individual basis. For sale as-is. I have described every detail to my best ability but if you have questions, feel free to ask before bidding. Please don’t bid if you don’t plan on following through!!! If you wish to see extra photos, a video or to view the bike in person I will do my best to accommodate you. This bike easily qualifies as show quality in my book but it is not a Barrett-Jackson trailer queen or museum piece. She’s over 40 years old but shows her age extremely well and just wants to be ridden and enjoyed! You won’t be able to go anywhere on this bike without turning heads and getting thumbs up!!! Feedback from my 1971 Candy Ruby Red CB750 I sold last year to a gentleman in Spain: Top seller, highly recomended. Thanks for all! jaguarmerc ( 17) On Apr-08-11 at 12:08:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Any bidders with Zero feedback or a brand new e-bay account please contact me before bidding or I will cancel the bid. Just trying to save myself from any hassles, no offense to anyone. I have had some picture requests and will post a couple extra photos tomorrow either on this listing or on the website in the description. Any other questions or concerns feel free to contact me.On Apr-09-11 at 09:39:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Here are some extra photos. I had an e-bayer say he thought the exhaust was re-plated. It was not re-chromed, the pipes and all the rest of the chrome are all original. The previous owner waxed them at the end of each season before storing the bike. I just cleaned off the wax and polished them really nice, that's all. The 1971 Michigan plate I bought for the bike since I was originally restoring this to be my show only bike- my red '71 CB750 was my daily rider. I never registered the plate. If the winning bidder is from Michigan he could register this bike as a historic motorcycle using this plate. It is a one time fee and you'll never need to buy tags again. If you want it, it's included with the bike. There is also a close up of the gauges, they really look great! I liked them so much I just left them that way but you can also see the brand new factory / OEM faces I could replace them with if you prefer the more traditional look. On Apr-10-11 at 16:34:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to multiple requests I posted a VIDEO of the bike to the same site as linked above with the pictures of the restoration. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=87012.0 The sound quality is not very good because I used my phone. There is hardly no chatter in real life, in person the top end is the quietest I have heard, very smooth. All new cam chain and tensioner parts really made a big difference. Sounds excellent and runs just like it did back in 1971!
