Vehicle Detail

This van has had a ton of tlc. Did all of the bondo work, fresh coat of industrial paint, new 3 vent pop top canvas, replaced the curtains and fabric on cushions, rebuilt the propane tank with a new regulator. More importantly has a rebuilt engine with less than 500 miles on it, a rebuilt transmission under warranty, brand new exhaust system, the fuel injection system was taken out and a carbuerator put in to avoid untimely roadside fires, electric ignition so never have to adjust the points. Everything that could possibly go wrong with an older vw has been either replaced or upgraded. I am confident she is ready to go cross country and beyond. THE GOOD: -New Air Cooled Engine with less than 500 miles on it -Rebuilt transmission under a 1 year warranty, should be good for the next 100,000 miles -New exhaust system -New 3 vent canvas on the pop top -New upholstery throughout, have original as well in case your taste is more traditional -Most amazing sound system ever known to a vw with new speakers and ipod charging cd radio -New class c tires -Electronic ignition system-Fuel injector replaced with carbuerator-New windshield -Rebuilt the propane tank and installed new regulator. Works perfectly, no leaks -Sink, stove, refrigerator that makes ice on battery, shore and propane -Class III hitch installed on the front end I used to haul my motorcycle THE BAD:-Somewhere along the reconstruction of the bus the odometer went out. Can be sent out and serviced in California or replaced cheaply with a used odometer with similar mileage.-The dashboard lights are burnt out, easy fix with a number of different options from pepboys.-The new fabric on the back cushion is cut to size but needs to be stitched, the rest are done. -The wallpaper on the overhead is flaking as it does in all vw's. put a hair dryer to it and it will come off instantly, fresh coat of paint and will look like new.-We did all of the bondo work and put an industrial coat of automotive paint on it(dark grey w black trim, have photos). I thought the paint job looked too modern/factory so we went over it with flat black krylon. I think it looks great and the automotive paint underneath will keep it rust free and water tight. We bought this bus and spent a ton of time, energy, and money with the intention of living and traveling in it once we returned home this summer but have the opportuntiy to live and work in Asia for the next 6 months and cannot justify having a $10,000 dollar vehicle sitting around. We do not expect to get all of our money back and whomever buys it will be getting a great deal and a solid bus ready to go. The van and the title are at my mechanics on johns island. This man is the most competent vw mechanic we've ever found and has been working on busses and bugs for over 50 years. His yard is a museum of vintage vw's. Happy to answer all questions and send additional photos. On Feb-24-11 at 15:43:12 PST, seller added the following information:
