1980 Mercedes Benz 450SEL - Gray Market Euro edition that has been federalized with the addition of catalytic converters and an MPH speedometer. 4.5 liter V8, 3 speed automatic. Rare AMG 16" wheels with P225/50R16 Bridgestone Potenza G009 tires. (Three of the four wheels need new chrome) Very rare AMG front spoiler. Runs and drives very well, plenty of power. Parts replaced in the last three years: Brake pads on all four wheels (April 2, 2011) Alternator Battery Front shocks Floor matts Seat covers Items in need of repair: Oil cooler has small seeping leak. (A replacement is included) Left front wheel bearings are making a little noise. (Discovered this while installing new brake pads. New wheel bearings for both front wheels have been ordered and will be included) Some front end work. I am not sure what the problem is but there is a little play in the steering. The car tracks straight with no pulling to either side, even when braking. Antilock brake system hardware is all there but the wires to the sensor on the left front brake caliper have broken off inside the sensor. The sensor's hard plastic case will have to be opened up to reconnect the wire. A/C does not work. The A/C v-belt tensioning pulley will need to be replaced before a new v-belt can be installed. Then troubleshooting the A/C can begin. The system has been converted to R134. The right front and left rear windows need new window regulators. Sunroof may need a new motor. I have not tried to open it since I bought the car three years ago. The vacuum door lock system does not work and was causing a massive vacuum leak. I have plugged the vacuum lines. The door locks still work, you just have to push/pull them yourself. There are a couple of small areas of surface rust near the sunroof and around the trunk lid that I have sanded and painted. There is a small amount of rust in the wheel wells at all four wheels. There is a small rust hole in the trunk behind the right-rear wheel. Dual CD player installed in car is not hooked up. The original color was blue, but the previous owner had it painted silver. The paint job can best be described as a "10 footer". Extra items included: Four Mercedes 14" wheels and tires. (See pictures) Complete set of Mercedes U.S. style headlights. They give the Mercedes a completely different look. (See pictures) Copies of Mercedes engine service and maintenance manuals.
