Vehicle Detail
1985 was the last year Mercedes built the gorgeous 123 series coupe . They only made 8007 of the 2 door version with the diesel engine and a lot less with the turbo version between 1982 and 1985 . This car was sold in 1985 here in California . It was finished in "light ivory" ( MB color code 623 ) with palomino color mb-tex interior . The body and the paint are in very nice condition all around . There are no dings , dents or scratches . The paint was recently detailed and it shines like new . The interior is very clean as well , as the pictures will show . There are no rips or tears in the seats and the carpets are clean . Even the wood panels are still looking great . But the best thing about this car is the way it drives . I just recently took it on a drive to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles ( about 90 miles) and it is a true pleasure to cruise up the coast with . It always starts up right away and idles like a diesel engine should . With the turbo charger it has plenty of power and is not slow at all . You can comfortable cruise at 85-90 miles per hour and still get 27 miles per gallon of diesel . The 3 liter 5 cylinder diesel engine is considered to be the most durable engine Mercedes ever built . With the right maintenance they are known to go for over 500k miles without even needing a valve job . There are several Mercedes diesel of this era on Ebay right now with 400k miles and still running well . But there are not many coupes out there anymore . This car would be perfect as a practical investment . If you keep taking care of it , it should only go up in value from here on . It would also do well as reliable and economical every day driver for many years . Or it would also be the perfect candidate for a bio diesel conversion . This way you could drive on vegetable oil or even free waste oil from restaurants . I have never tried it myself , but with gasoline prices where they are today , it sure sounds like a great idea . I would prefer to sell the car to somebody local , who could actually come out and see it . But i would also be willing to assist with shipping or an eventual airport pick up . I am located in West Los Angeles and i could show the car almost anytime . Please do have all your financing in order and ask all questions BEFORE placing a bid . I will answer all questions promptly and honestly . This is a 26 year old car in great condition and it will be sold " as is " and without a warranty . Thank you for looking at my auction and good luck bidding ....
