Vehicle Detail

Hello and thanks for looking at my car. This is a beautiful car, with decent interior, and lots of working, useable parts. The transmission needs a complete rebuild, and it's just not worth doing. There is some undercarriage rust, but the body parts all seem solid and tight. The motor runs fine, although I don't have any idea how it would run since it hasn't been on the road in a couple of years. It did sound fine when started last fall. For those of you who need body parts, this is your beast. There should be some mechanical parts worth salvaging, but I just don't know. It will come with it's actual Mercedes Benz Parts manual and a repair book. The book, is for a W123 body style, but there should/could be some useful information in it. The battery is relatively new but dead due to not having been started in a while. I really don't know anything about cars, but this is such a pretty girl. Certainly an enthusiast would know what to do with her. We call her Alice. Please feel free to e-mail me questions, but I'm an accountant and have limited automotive knowledge. I just want someone to get her who will actually find a use of her instead of tossing her into a junk yard. On Mar-31-11 at 17:16:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Good news! I got the battery charged, and she roared to life! Yay! She sounded a bit cold and knocky, but I can't tell if it was all bad or if she was angry at having sat for so long, and she was very cold. I got some great assistance from a Mercedes lover who told me of something to get her transmission to run. I did as he suggested, and she went into reverse (again, a huge improvement) and sluggishly forward a bit, but only in low and only once. Hope this helps! She has one tire going flat, so we'll need to take it up for air to get her loaded onto your flatbed. Unless you live 50 feet away, she'll still need to be hauled. I also discovered that her gas pedal has disappeared. One of those mysteries of life - it was there last time I sat in her. Also, a lot of you have been asking about the rust underneath. I can't tell you how bad it is; it's covered with some odd undercoating. I would assume the worst. Thanks for looking at my pretty car!
