Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE!!!! Absolutely stunning, and breathtakingly fast: an S2000 turbo, with all work done by one of the finest Honda tuning shops in the country, Inline Pro. This car combines the best of both worlds: legendary Honda reliability and sizzling speed. I have never tracked this car, or done quarter mile runs, or made formal evaluations with a speed gun, but the below online calculator affirms that with a curb weight of 2900 pounds and 510ish hp at the crank, the car will go zero-to-sixty in 3.3 seconds. That's blindingly quick, and the rarefied territory that is populated by very few cars on earth, cars like 911 Turbos and Ferraris---all for the cost, and fuel economy, of an Accord. http://www.060calculator.com/ For those of you who don't know about the Honda S2000, it is one of the most thrilling, and most reliable, sports cars of the last few decades. It is nimble, responsive, light, flingable, and an absolute joy to drive. It has one of the most precise gearboxes ever made---very short throws that are so accurate and pleasurable that you can hear the SNICK! when you shift. The glass-windowed convertible top is simple to operate and goes down in 6 seconds. The interior is awash in supple leather and high-quality plastics. And the entire car is engineered like a race car: the engine is snugged nearly up against the dash for an ideal 50-50 weight distribution; all controls are within a finger's distance from the wheel so you never have to take your hands off while driving; the chassis is as rigid and solid as any roadster on earth; and the engine screams like a jet fighter to an 8000 rpm redline. Here is some additional praise about the stock S2000s, which have won just about every automotive award out there: The S2000 has received much praise from critics and motoring journalists and has received favourable reviews from such publications as Car and Driver, Car Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and Road & Track magazine. Among the features highlighted are the high output of the engine, the high redline, the balanced handling, and the smooth gearbox. User surveys have named the S2000 as a favorite for overall customer satisfaction. The S2000 was on Car and Driver's Ten Best list for 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004.The S2000 was the highest-ranked model in the J. D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study "Premium Sports Car" class for 2004, 2006, and 2008 and consistently held one of the top three positions. The S2000 was ranked number #1 in the BBC Top Gear Survey in 2004, 2005, and 2006.The S2000 was ranked as "Best Affordable Sports Car" by U.S. News & World Report in 2008 and 2009The F20C engine won the International Engine of the Year award in the "1.8 to 2 litre" size category for five years from 2000 through 2004.The F20C was featured on Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2000 and 2001.The S2000 was on Edmunds Consumers Most Wanted for 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007.The S2000 was one of Jalopnik's Best10 Cars Of The Decade. The difference with this modified car is that it retains all those wonderful characteristics while also giving you supercar-grade acceleration. The turbo has only a few thousand miles on it, much of which are highway miles (driving from Savannah, where the car resides, to DC, where the work was done, and then from Savannah to Florida, where I often work) and it has never been abused. I am a meticulous owner and the car has been pampered. It is always garaged; it's never seen snow; it's never been hit or bumped. I have all records, including $18,000 of work from the guys at Inline Pro, the shop who basically started the entire S2000-turbo craze. I'm not extremely knowledgeable about mechanicals, but the main work that the car has had done includes: --an Inline Pro turbo kit, which produces 445 whp at 21psi --a Competition clutch --an entire new rear-end to handle the additional power I know that there are many, many more things that were done (oil filter relocation, and the engine management system business, etc), but I can't comment on them with any authority. I have the receipts, of course, so I can quote more specifically if you e-mail me, but suffice to say: it's faster than almost any car you will ever see on the road. And it is literally the best thing I've ever owned. Alas, I'm selling it because 1) it's a second car that is spending more and more time sitting in the garage, and 2) I'm buying a new house and need additional funds, and 2a) I've been taking an earful lately about what constitutes responsible and adult financial planning. So. My heartbreak is your gain. Of course, it's a used car; there is no warranty, expressed or implied, and it has a few imperfections. There are a few VERY small blemishes on the paint (in pics) and one or two of the wheels have some slight curb rash. But it is an impeccable example of one of the best sports cars on the road that also happens to boast breakneck speed. I can make the car available for pick-up or for shipping, but all transport is the responsibility of the buyer. Also please note that the car is now uninsured and therefore unable to be driven. And I am working on a short contract out of town for the next few months, but if you wish to have it inspected I can try to have my father arrange to make the car available to be looked at. Or you can call Inline Pro at 703.455.5805 and talk to Tom. He knows every thing---every nut and bolt---about this car. Good luck bidding! Or use Buy-It-Now for instant and maximum springtime fun-in-the-sun! Please note: winning bidder must make a $500.00 deposit within 48 hours of auction close, and the car will be released only AFTER the full payment has cleared. NO RESERVE!!!!! (Embarrassing note about NO RESERVE: I wasn't clever enough to figure out how to make the auction officially No Reserve, so I just put the reserve at one dollar above the starting price. So yes, there is a reserve but it's only $20,000. Sorry for the confusion.)
