1949 Chevrolet Thrift-master Truck See the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRWDNwg4rfM Pictures included in this listing show the overall condition of this truck is very good. It is charmingly imperfect but you will find that it was a rust free truck to begin with and my crappy photography does not do the truck justice. The original engine was a 216 cubic inch six cylinder with Babbitt rods and low pressure oiling. This engine was replaced with a 235 cubic inch six with inserted rods and pressurized oiling. These engines were used from 1952 through 1966. It is a superior engine that is very close to the original. The engine is equipped with dual exhaust and an auxillary oil filter system, both are an excellent modification to these engines. When you email, include your phone number so I can call you if you have a lot of questions. The three speed transmission is the original on the column shift. The electrical system is like original and in very good condition. The wiring harness has been replaced with a reproduction harness using heavy gauge wiring as is appropriate. The truck still has the old cool generator like the hot rodders are now going back to. The fuel system including the tank was completely removed, treated with an epoxy coating and replaced. All fuel lines are new steel lines. A new reproduction fuel sending unit was installed. The interior uses the original seat and frame but was re-stuffed and re-upholstered for comfort. Seat belts have also been added for safety. If you view the video you can see the original radio is installed in the dash. It is an AM radio and is highly unusual to find this series of truck equipped with one. The tires are fine but the rims are f-ugly as they can be. It runs and drives but has been in storage for about 5 years and is not currently registered for street use. The truck was repainted using a pleasing cream color. The paint job is shop grade but looks pretty good. The bumpers are the deluxe original style chrome plated. The bed wood and bed strips were replaced. The bed strips were upgraded to stainless and are brilliant. Stainless steel tailgate chains. The Fulton Visor in the pictures is not included in the sale of this truck but may be purchased separately. The pictures show that the truck is straight and square, not a rebuilt wreck or made from several old parts trucks. If you need longer I can arrange for the truck to be stored in a secure enclosed commercial storage facility. You will be responsible for making arrangements to initiate the rental and make payment. A non refundable deposit of $300 is required at the close of the auction so that I am not out the cost of the listing if you are a non payer. Your deposit is credited toward the final auction price. The cost of transporting this vehicle is strictly the buyers cost. If you are using commercial transport I will drive the truck a short distance to the transport and be there until it is loaded. I will only go a short distance (five miles or less) because the truck is not licensed for street use and I do not want a citation for no current registration and no insurance.
