Vehicle Detail
Very nice original pretty rare unmolested 1979 GMC Sierra Grande 3500 pickup. We have never seen another, and believe me we have looked a lot. This would make a great show truck. It gets a lot of looks, and comments. This is an original factory 454 truck, with its original 454 engine and automatic transmission in it that it came with new. Not many of these were built, and the Sierra Grande was only available in the 1 ton 3500 class and only in 2wd with a Posi-Trac rear end. Comes with air conditioning, Am Fm radio, and dual fuel tanks. The original owner used this truck to pull their fifth wheel camper in the Summer time. Last Fall the engine was removed, and a nearly $3,000 complete overhaul was done by one certified shop doing the removal and re-installation, and an excellent engine builder shop doing the engine work, before installing it back into the truck, and then putting the truck in storage for the Winter. (The engine has new everything in it from the crank all the way up to the gaskets). Nothing was spared. The transmission has been flushed, new front and rear seals put in, and a new transmission mount installed, because the rubber looked aged and had some cracks. The drive line has all new hanger bearings, u-joints, and fluid in the rear differential. The alignment is perfect, and the truck drives straight and effortlessly. (All receipts for this and others, will go with the truck.) This truck is totally rust free, and an original truck from a salt free state. It has never been driven in the Winter, and has its original factiory paint, showing some age, but still decent for all original. 1 panel of the right upper box was painted before we got it. Not sure why, but no fillers in the repair. Could have been a scratch. The truck has the correct white rims that have been powdercoated, and its original center caps on the wheels. We converted the rims to 16" rims instead of keeping the 16.5" rims, because of the numerous choices of tire styles available for the 16" rims. The rims are off a 1977 pickup, and there are pretty decent 10 ply BF Goodrich tires currently on the truck. You may want something different than these tires, depending on what the truck will be used for. There is a NOS actual 1970's original Luverne 700.00 NOS rear bumper on the truck, that we found last year at a dealer up in their old parts room. (Not a new version of an old bumper) The interior is all original and excellent. The air conditionng works great, and it will be checked after sitting all winter to make sure it is ice cold for the buyer. We spent 300.00 on the seat last year using the correct for the period material to exact original specifications, buttons an all.. The old covering really was in good condition but worn on the drivers side. Has a couple cracks in the top of the dash vinyl. There is a nice extra grille, and some chrome trim pieces that also go with the truck. Lots of pictures of the truck and the overhaul in progress. We purchased the truck 4 years ago with 97,000 actual miles on it, and we have used it in the summer only. We are selling this because I have 2 other restored trucks, and a car, and a bunch of vintage motorcyles that I have collected, and I need the space, otherwise it would be staying right where it is. You can get in this and drive it to anywhere in the United States. I have a clear lien free title in my name. Please ask all the questions you like, and I will do my best to answer them. The buyer is responsible for shipping costs, and I will help the successful buyer however I can, with shipping arrangements. Thanks, Eric
