Vehicle Detail

1976 Fiat Spider convertible. Very fun collectable car. I've owned the car for 17 years, and only drove it around town from 1994-2000. Stored the car for the past 10 years, and got it out a few months ago for some engine work including new brake lines and improvements to the transmission. Runs very well. Car has 108,000 miles with minor patches of rust above the wheels. Needs carpet and a new top but the backseat, bucket seats and door panels have black leather interior in great condition. Details all original. On Mar-08-11 at 11:38:52 PST, seller added the following information: Car also has a new battery, spark plugs, tires, wipers - perfect for someone looking to take an already solid antique car and restore it to perfection. On Mar-11-11 at 06:30:27 PST, seller added the following information: Someone asked about more interior photos, so we will add those soon. Also, the car could be used as a "drive everyday" car. It was my drive everyday car for many years. On Mar-13-11 at 12:21:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Took several new photos this weekend. I can get them downloaded Monday morning when I get back to my other computer. Please check back by 9 a.m. CST to see more images of the interior, engine and body. On Mar-14-11 at 06:52:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Added more photos. The backseat is dirty but in good shape. The door panels and bucket seats also have no tears. The picture of the rear tire gives an idea of the patches of rust just above some of the wheels. There is a black matching boot cover to go over the top (again, it has a top but needs a new one). Portions of the body and interior need a little TLC, but it's a good place to start if you like restoration work. I also have a Fiat parts and info book for this model to go along with it, as well as the name and number of a Fiat expert in the Southeast Kansas area who has done work on it for us. On Mar-16-11 at 06:41:23 PDT, seller added the following information: One more info addition on the final day of the auction: I called my car guy who did work on this car about six months ago (it's not been driven much since then). He actually lived in Italy for a few years when his brother was in the service and worked on Fiats there. Anyway, he told me the transmission is good. (This car has a 2nd gear, I guess not all Fiats do.) When I bought the car, we had also put in a new synchronizer between the 4th and 5th gears. The clutch is good although it could probably use a new clutch cable sometime in the future. There's no grinding between gears. He also repaired the carburetor and completely rebuilt the brake system with new hydraulics and hoses. He also flushed the fuel system and made some minor repairs so the car can pass inspection. Had one more question about rust. There is minor rust over the back wheels, but none on the front. There's also a little rust at the ends of the bumper where the pads are gone and it's been exposed to weather. A little rust on the muffler/tailpipe, but none under the car. Happy bidding! Best of luck.
