allinthedetailsllc Store 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SL low miles CLASSIC many pics!!! Mercedes-Benz R107 (SL) These fine automobiles were produced from 1971 to 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by the Mercedes, after the G-Class SUV. The SL was a 2-seat convertible/roadster with a soft-top and hardtop both as standard equipment. The R107 took the chassis components of the mid size Mercedes-Benz W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the premium luxury S-Class cars. The 380SL cars were produced from 1981 to 1985. These cars put out approximately 155hp and 196lb-ft of torque. The SL class of Mercedes-Benz automobiles continues today, and these are excellent touring and GT roadsters with an outstanding pedigree of racing and road cars. These beautifully classic cars feature timeless Mercedes-Benz styling and impeccable build quality. True classics, the R107 cars will continue to appreciate while allowing their owners the opportunity to drive and enjoy their investment. Nice examples such as this one are becoming harder and harder to find! Our 380SL This 1983 Model is a beautiful car overall. It is mostly original with only a few small dings and blemishes, and a couple of minor rust spots (no serious rust that I could see). With low mileage, this 380SL will provide for many more years of enjoyable driving. The odometer works and currently has 155k miles, this equates out to 5500 miles per year! It appears that at some point the car was professionally repainted the original color. Overall, the exterior I would rate as about 7 out of 10; or in other words, like a driver/weekend car as opposed to a show/ museum quality or restored machine. Mechanically, the car drives really well. It has a very smooth ride, handles well, and is extremely comfortable. It has four brand new tires. The brakes are good. Upon starting, the car starts easily but then is hesitant to accelerate until it warms up a bit. It could probably use a tune up, but we are enjoying driving it as it is. Once warm, the car drives really well, having good power and a smooth shifting transmission. It cruises strong at 70-80 MPH--very steady and reassuring. The interior of the car is in remarkable shape for its age. There is one very small crack on the dashboard. The seats are in great shape, and likely have been re-upholstered, the gauges work nicely and also light up well at night (with exception of the tachometer light). All lights and blinkers work. An aftermarket CD player has been installed but is not currently working. The only other “interior” issue is that the AC does not work--in fact I don’t even know if it has AC. I have not looked into it at all since we enjoy driving the car and don’t use the AC! It is a convertible, after all. Also, the passenger side power window is not working. The heater/defrost system works excellently. The hard top is in outstanding condition! This car is also equipped with very rare back seats (two of them). Overall, the car is in good shape, especially for being 28 years old! This is a great classic car, complete with its original hard top and beautifully nice soft top. With very little work someone could turn this into a show car, or drive it now as is and thoroughly enjoy this gorgeous Mercedes-Benz. It is truly a pleasure to drive, and I know you’ll enjoy it! Notes Due to the nature of business these days, especially online, please keep the following in mind: Besides any issues I mention in the ad, please keep in mind this is an old car, and though it has been well taken care of and is in good shape, it is 28 years old and my description is as honest as can be but with all things subject to relativity. If you went through the car with a magnifying glass and fine toothed comb you could find faults for sure--as you can with any car, and so the car is sold “as-is” and pre- purchase inspections can help take some guesswork out of any car purchase so I encourage them. I am no mechanic, I just know I drive it around and enjoy myself thoroughly and I am sure you will too!
