Vehicle Detail
First things first. Please be sure to scroll to bottom for lots more high res pics. The bike rack on the roof is NOT included. However, I will include the bars and towers for and extra $75 over winning bid if the buyer wants them. They're factory Volvo bars made specifically to fit the 850 and I believe the s70 series. Bike mounts are NOT sale. Car currently has slightly over 176,000 miles, but it is my daily driver, so mileage will be slightly different on actual sale date. I don't commute, so it won't vary much. 1995 Volvo 850 with an 'R' series leather & suede interior. This car did not originally have the 'R' interior. It was swapped with the original in 2005. At that time all Air Bag canisters were re-newed (see closeup of proof sticker). This is a really nice car. Well maintained. Oil changed every 3000 miles. Timing belt replaced at 136,000 miles. Virtually everything that goes wrong with these cars starting at about 80,000-120,000 miles has been repaired or replaced on this car. Never been wrecked. No dents. Normal or less then normal amount of door dings for its age. Some clear coat peeling on roof towards back (see closeup). And there is an unusual 'blem' in the clear coat on the hood. Not a large area, a few inches long and a fraction of an inch wide. Not sure how to describe it, light 'crazing' is the only word I can think of. Not very noticeable in most light, I usually forget its there until I'm washing the car. Didn't photograph well (see closeup of hood). I actually had the car a few weeks before I even noticed it for the first time. Some expected road rash and scrapes on the ground effects kit. Car has spent it's entire life in Florida & Colorado. The roads are not salted in Colorado, so this car has no rust whatsoever. Interior is not perfect but is in very good shape, especially for age of car. Looks much darker black in person. I took pic's with 3 different digital cameras and none were able to capture the true color. Pictures are kind of washed out and blueish, but it is deep dark black in person. No tears in leather or suede. Very minor or minimal staining on suede, nothing that jumps out at you. Left drivers side bolster has a medium size hole worn in it (see pic of drivers seat), pretty common. I had an upholstery shop look at it and they said it was no problem to replace just the bolstered area that is worn. Door panels have a few small blems, mainly nicks in the leather approximately 1/8" in diameter. Dash pad has a 'star' shaped crack in it about the size of a silver dollar looking in from the passenger side. You cannot see it from the driver side. If you look at the pic shot thru the front passenger door you can see it. Dash pads for these are easy to come by, $35 at my local Pick-a-Part. I would rate wear to be considerably less then normal for age. All interior electronics work as do exterior electrical. Only exception would be the side marker lights on the front fenders. These are the 'Euro' markers and were not available on American 850's. There is normally a 'Volvo' emblem at this spot. I added the marker lights but never got around to wiring them up. IPD sells the wiring kits for them or you can just get pigtails of an S70 series at the junk yard. Power seats, windows and locks all work. As does alarm system (Note: I only have 2 keys and one alarm FOB, extra FOB's are easy to acquire) Radio works perfect and gets very good sound. No CD player but has controller for a truck mounted unit. Tires are Hankook iPike Winter tires. These are AWESOME tires for snow and ice. They are studdable (but I haven't studded them). Have less then 2500 miles on them. I run these year round and have gotten great wear from them in the past. But they don't ride as smooth or grip on dry road as well as a good HP or all season tire. Wheels are in great shape with less the normal curb rash. Transmission was supposed to have be rebuilt at about 120,000 miles. I don't have a receipt for it. Previous owner had it done. But it shifts perfectly and I have no reason to doubt it. AC condenser (a known problems on these cars) has been replaced with new Entire top end of engine was rebuilt when Turbo was upgraded to the 16t at about 150,000 miles. Wasn't having a problem, just did it as part of the performance upgrade. This car can really scoot, nice and quick but not overdone. Gets fantastic mileage, somewhere in the mid 20's. Turbo was just rebuilt less the 2000 miles ago, so it's good for the next 100,000 miles or more. I've included some pics of the some of the upgrade parts before they were installed. Although exhaust in flanged in 'before' pic's, but the system was completely welded to avoid leaks (VERY expensive to have done since it is stainless). Entire exhaust including pipes, muffler and cat are all stainless steel. 50 State smog legal. Engine runs fantastic. Burns less then a quart of oil between oil changes. One oil leak under the car, not sure where it is coming from. It's not bad, leave a spot about the size of a Quarter overnight. I have extensive maintenance records on this car. This is one of the best engines ever built. 300,000-500,000 miles out of one of these is no problem if maintained properly and this one has been. This has been a great car. I would drive it anywhere, and in fact drove it to Tennessee and back to Colorado while towing a small trailer in May of last year, without a single problem . Great car for a teen going off to College or a daily driver. Front and side airbags (updated in 2005). Incredibly safe, but still a very cool looking car. Only selling because I am in need of a wagon or SUV to haul my dogs when we go hiking in the mountains. The list below is just stuff that has been done since car top 150,000 miles. New stuff since 150,000 miles Oil Cooler Lines Oil pump and seals New axles and CV joints all around New coolant lines and tank New springs seats and mounts, front and rear RMS Complete new PCV system. (This was a complete system, every part not just one or two pieces. Very common for these to need replacement every 100,000 miles or so. If not replaced when needed, these cars will blow engine oil seals all over) New thermostat and sensor All new vacuum lines New rotor, cap, plug wires, plugs Complete brake job with new pads, rotors and rebuilt calipers Turbo rebuilt less then 2000 miles ago. These are Mitsubishi Turbos and it was rebuilt with all factory parts, no aftermarket cheapy parts. Bosch Maintenance Free Battery And much, much more that I am forgetting Now the good stuff (most of it done within the last 25,000 miles or less) After market modifications INVISI-BRA on hood and front fenders. Professionally installed. Protects from rock chips. All lens on the front lights have been replaced with new. TME Lowering springs Saches sport shocks Samco Turbo hoses Digiboost gauge (display vacuum on left and boost on right with max boost memory) Zazzi instrument cluster QBM dash gauge trim rings IPD endlinks 16T Turbo with IPD CBV upgrade and 11psi wastegate OBX exhaust system fully with a 3" cat fully welded together so no leaks. 50 state smog legal. IPD 22mm rear sway bar Antenna up/down switch 15% tinted windows with blacked out pillars IPD stainless steel brake lines Carbon Fiber trunk panel IPD egg crate hood grill E-code headlights with 5oook HID's from Sharp HID (these have a lifetime warranty on bulbs and ballasts) Receiver type trailer hitch fully wired. (you can easily pull a small utility trailer or seadoo) All 6 engine and transmission mounts have been replaced (front and rear main engine are heavy duty mounts, upper is polyurethane) Known problems Not much really. Of course any already mention items such as the already mentioned oil leak. Suspension upgrade is a performance upgrade so ride is not as smooth as stock, but firmer for better control and cornering. This is a plus or minus depending on what you want in a car. The engine mounts are also performance upgrades and are firmer then stock, these last much longer then OEM but do allow more engine vibration to be felt inside. More noticeable in the winter mornings when the rubber tends to firmer from the cold. Not bad, but it is noticeable over stock mounts. Brakes squeal sometimes as Volvo's are known for, but brakes are tip top. Thats all I can think of at this point, if something else occurs to me, I'll add it in. Car always passed emissions test when in Denver. However, I am in Colorado Springs and emissions testing is not required out here, so it has not been done recently. However. I have no reason to suspect it would not pass with flying colors. This car is rock solid and I'd drive it anywhere in the country without worry. That said it is an older car and obviously things can go wrong at any time. Delivery If you want to fly in and pick it up I can pick you up at Colorado Springs Airport (airport code COS) If you want it shipped, you'll have to arrange delivery yourself. Alternatively, I am willing to drive car to you anywhere in the lower 48 states for the actual costs. That means you pay fuel cost, an airplane ticket back to Colorado (cheap seat is fine) and one or two nights in a Motel 6 depending on how far away you are from Colorado. This is a great deal, since its exactly what it would cost you to come get it yourself. I actully done this with 2 other cars and it worked out well. Contact me with your location if you'd like an estimate of actual cost. Delivery costs would need to be paid up front and are non refundable. I am self employeed so could normally deliver within a week of auction end. I require a $500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of auction end. Balance due in Cash upon pickup or delivery within 7 days of auction end. No Checks. I can store car for up to 60 days for free, but it need to be paid for completely within the 7 day period.
