Vehicle Detail

1954 Studebaker Champion Starliner CoupeI'm listing this for my step dad. Any questions please call him at 818-515-2886. The car is located in the Los Angeles area. This auction has no reserve. This 2-door hardtop has always been in California and was bought from the original owners estate about 15 years ago. He was the original owner, making us the 2nd owners. When we opened up the garage back then we had no idea what kind of Studebaker it was, just that it was a Studebaker! To our surprise it was this 1954 you see here. The car was alway's garaged, but when we found it, it had been parked in the garage and hadn't moved in over 10 years. The first thing that we did was just get it up and running as found. This included going through all the mechanicals, which at the time included the stock 6 cylinder motor. The car was originally creme color body with a maroon roof. After a couple years it was torn down for professional paint and upholstery. When it was painted the choice was made to paint the body the color the roof was originally and the top the color the body was originally. This makes the overall look way more striking! Before being painted it was decided to do some minor shaving of some emblems. The dash was left in original paint. Once the paint was done a semi-custom interior was sewn using material similar to what was originally in '50s Studebaker's.Once back on the road we were never really happy with the old straight 6 motor so a v8 was located and installed. The new Engine is a 1954 Studebaker 259ci v8 with a Holley 4 brrl, backed with a Mustang 3 speed automatic trans. The engine and trans are strong and have less than 10,000 miles since rebuild. Some engine pieces were chromed and Finned Alluminum Offenhauser valve covers were installed. At this time Firestone bias ply whitewalls were added. The Front end was lowered and twin exhaust was ran out the back. Exhaust "Cutouts" were added below the back of the front fender wells so you can uncork the pipes if you feel like making some noise! The car was totally rewired and has a 12volt start with 6volt run system. We Have a total of at least $12,000 invested. Over the last six years it has been driven less frequently and was parked outside and covered with a California Car Cover. All glass in the vehicle is original. Please take note that the passenger side door glass is cracked and will need to be replaced by the new owner. Recently the grille bars were damaged so they are not mounted in the grille opening. Check the photos for extra parts that come with the car.As a result it will need minor bodywork, new paint and upholstery to make it a total show stopper again. Runs and drives great so it can be enjoyed as is. Definitely a cool little Coupe! This automobile is sold as is and once the new owner takes possession we are not responsible. There is no warranty. We would prefer car be picked up from it's location, but will coordinate with the buyer if shipping or transportation is arranged by the purchaser. PLEASE BID TO OWN..... AND DO NOT BID IF YOU DONT HAVE THE FUNDS TO FINISH & COMPLETE THIS TRANSACTION..... On Mar-09-11 at 11:00:37 PST, seller added the following information: I have had some inquiry's about the condition of the paint. The paint is oxidized, has some minor cracking which is shown in the photos. Also there is a bit of cracking in the paint on the nose of the car. The paint could probably be buffed out with a professional buffer to make it a lot more shiny. There is a couple areas where the paint has gotten a little thin. In order to make it perfect you would definitely need to repaint this car. Thanks for Looking!
