Vehicle Detail

This listing is for a 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air, 2-door sedan that was originally equipped with a V8. The "Bel Air" nameplate was Chevrolet's flagship nameplate until 1958, when the full-size platform was split into 3 models: "Impala", the new name for the "top-of-the-line" flagship model; "Biscayne" the economy-priced, stripped-down model & the "Bel Air" which fell between the other two in pricing & options. It was essentially a legacy nameplate kept around for familiarity & they saw a lot of use as fleet vehicles. Finding a decent Bel Air or Biscayne to build is tough because those that weren't crushed in the '70s were cannibalized for parts to restore Impalas in the '90s; not to mention the production numbers; approx. 704,900 Impalas were built in '62, whereas only 166,000 Bel Airs were built that year. Whether the car was an Impala (including SS), Bel Air or Biscayne, in 1962 they could all be had with ANY available production engine from inline 6 to a 409. I'm certain this car wasn't a 409, but I can't confirm whether it was a 327 or 283, as the original engine is long gone, along with the fender "V"s. I haven't decoded the trim tag yet, but the original paint appears to have been Ermine White (936); not sure about the interior though, details to follow. The really nice thing about this Bel Air is that all the original moldings & emblems (minus the fender "V"s) are intact & in restorable shape. I could sell the complete set of side moldings for $800 up; they are rare & not reproduced. The cab of the car is in excellent shape. Both doors are in great shape. Fenders are workable. The trunk is decent. Car doesn't appear to have body filler in it anywhere. Nice, original heavy bumpers. Restorable original grille. Quarter-panels, rockers, floors, & hood probably need to be replaced, the standard things with these cars on the East coast. The dashboard is in excellent condition, may need some of the trim items refurbished. Door panels, seat covers, carpet & headliner all need to be replaced. Car has a nice, straight X-frame & it doesn't appear to have ever been "lowridered."Very clean engine bay. CLEAR TITLE! All things considered, this is a very solid project car. Not much on it you can't do yourself & the low reserve means you don't have to treat it like a museum piece. No engine means you can build it how you want: 409, stroker, crate engine, etc. Would make great restoration, 409 clone, custom rod, rat rod, lowrider or even a gasser. These "post cars" make excellent quarter-milers! Excellent father & son project car as well. Again, clear title & since this is a non-running car, it will have to be transported. Transport of vehicle is the winning bidder's responsibility; but I do understand if you can't pick it up right away. MAY be able to work something out within the Carolinas for a small fee. I also have just about everything you need in stock to complete this car in our actual, physical restoration shop in Albemarle, North Carolina; about 50 miles Northeast of Charlotte. At Russell's Impala Parts we have been restoring & selling parts for 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963 & 1964 Chevrolet Impalas, Bel Airs & Biscaynes & ONLY those cars for 30+ years! Have NOS, original & reproduction parts in stock; several parts cars in the back!Call me, Ray @ (704)254-7672, Twitter: @DarthKthulhu, eMail: darthcthulhu@me.com or message me here with any questions about this '62, parts, or anything else. Thanks for reading my long-winded listing, I love these cars & want you to love them too, so I try to be as upfront as I can on the history & condition of our cars & have sold everything from a restored '63 SS 409 convertible to a rough '64 9-passenger wagon on eBay with no complaints & 100% feedback. Small PayPal deposit required within 3 days of auction close - refundable if you find my listing to be erroneous in any way upon inspection of the car. Thanks again & happy bidding!
