1949 INTERNATIONAL PICKUP RAT ROD / HOT ROD YOUTUBE VIDEO COMING FRIDAY MARCH 4!!! It's killer what more can you say. Offered here is my 1949 International Pickup RAT ROD OR HOT ROD however you want to classify it. Where you see “I” you can place in the gentleman who built the truck. I bought the truck mostly done and have enjoyed it for a year and ready for something else. I am re-using his description because he did a great job. I started with an old flat bed farm truck that I purchased right here at home. I sent the truck to Tim Hoskins in Redbird Kentucky. Tim is famous for bagging mini trucks and has several of his trucks featured in mini trucking magazine. Tim sub framed the front using a 1985 Monte Carlo front section with disc brakes. He then used the rear section of the Monte Carlo and sectioned it on to the center section of the original IH frame and Z'd it about 6 inches so you have the original 4 link set up and the original brakes and rear end from the 85. After that was professionally done I had him replace all the floor and he did a fantastic job including repairing the door jambs and getting the doors to open and close as they should. We made the bed from an assortment of good parts. The bed sides, headboard and tail gate came off one of my 67 GMC trucks and was rust free. We found a decent set of rear fenders off a 1949 Chevy truck. As the frame is about 6 inches shorter than stock we had to section a 6 inch section out of the center of the bed keeping all the bed stakes in place. Thanks go out to Doyle Frazier and little buddy Nathan at HWY 80 Auto Color for the body work and bed work and we have more to do. Next I had Tim channel the body down about 6 inches over the frame. The stance is near perfect as you can see from the photos. We dropped a 350 Chevy motor out of a 1980 Corvette and put an edelbrock aluminum intake on it and rebuilt the carb, new alternator, fuel pump and water pump and freshened it up a bit with M/T valve covers and new flex fan. We hooked the 350 motor up to a freshly reconditioned turbo 400 so you have a killer drive train. How about an old RAT that drives like an 85 Monte Carlo with plenty of power. As you can see from the photos we have done all the hard work. The truck does start from the original key switch on the Monte Carlo steering column. Holds 35-40 pounds oil pressure steady and around 170 degrees on the temp gauge. Has brand new tires all the way around. Brand new headlight buckets with new headlights. The taillights are 38 Ford Technostalgia LEDs and will blind you if you look to close. New Optima Red top battery. New Alternator. Truck runs great, stops great. Has a brand new fuel cell under the bed wood. I have left the decoration to you the buyer. I had intended to put Gulf Oil stickers on the doors and some lettering as it would look really cool on the new flat black paint, or just have it pin striped. Make it your own design. It draws a crowd now. Check out how low it sets. This would be an ideal candidate to bag and lay frame as it is only about 6 inches of the ground now. There is plenty of room under the good old Kentucky barn lumber oak bed to install an air tank and switches and tail gate works perfect as it should. Truck is on a current Kentucky clear title in my name and in hand ready to transfer and is titled a 1949 International. Many have said it reminds them of a Willy's truck or a 1940 Ford truck. Check out the original vintage Torq Thrust wheels 14x6 in the front and 15 x 10 in the rear - yeah 15 X 10" Tim installed a late model s-10 steering box instead of hooking up the original power steering and it actually feels like it is power steering. I hate to sale but don’t have the garage space to devote to this great truck. I am finishing up wiring the headlights and that should be the last piece. Plenty of room in the bed for lawn chairs, tents or whatever else you want to haul. OH yeah almost forgot - new brake lines, new fuel lines installed also. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT SOME THROWED TOGETHER PIECE OF JUNK HELD UP WITH BAILING WIRE AND DUCT TAPE. I PAID TIM $2,000 JUST TO DO THE FRAME WORK AND NEW FLOORS AND MOUNT THE MOTOR AND TRANS AND PUT IN NEW BRAKE AND GAS LINES AND BELIEVE ME THEY ARE DONE RIGHT. Please email or call me at 804-986-1419 with any questions. Cash plus trade could be considered. More pics available via email. I can hold the truck for as long as necessary for you to arrange pickup as long as it's paid for.
