Vehicle Detail
This 1955 Ford Classic is road ready. This Classic has a 3 speed transmission on the column and shifts smoothly. The car has had an excellent older restoration which appears to have been done about 6 or 7 years ago. It appears to have been a frame off restoration. All floor pans are in excellent condition. The interior has been completely restored with beautiful burgundy carpets and contrasting seat covering and door panels. The white headliner has also been replaced and the dash and window frames repainted. All glass are in excellent condition and front and rear windows crank up and down with ease. New brakes and a new exhaust system were installed when restored. The 6 cylinder engine has been rebuilt and new tires installed. Their are no known oil leaks.I have installed new door weatherstrips. The car was repainted at the time it was restored. The exterior paint color is a beautiful buckskin tan with a contrasting white top and the paint is in excellent condition with a beautiful shine. I have a new custom "Empire Cover" to fit the car. .A "Fifth Avenue" 6 volt alternator has been installed as well as a new commercial 6 volt battery. The "Fifth Avenue" alternator allows the battery to be charged with 60 amps. of power even when the car is idling or running at a low RPM, such as riding in a parade, etc. I have installed, below the dash, an AM-Fm receiver with a CD player. I have also installed, below the dash, a new temperature gauge. All other gauges, radio and clock work fine. Vacuum wipers work but are slow. Headlights, brake lights and signal lights all work perfectly. Trunk has a new covering as well as the original jack as well as a new spare tire. I have service manuals for everything. The horn is the only thing that does not work. I have installed a new horn relay which did not correct the problem. The horn itself works when hot wired so the problem has to be the wire that runs down the steering column. This should be an easy fix. Car has been inspected at a Louisiana inspections station and cleared inspection with no problems. This car is an excellent driver and I have driven it at 70-75 mph and it holds the road perfectly. I would not be concerned to drive this car any where. I also have a set of "original" 1955 Ford Fender skirts with new seals and brackets. The skirts have not been painted but I have a quart of paint that is an excellent match for the tan paint. This paint can also be used for small rock pecks, etc., as needed. Their are none now that needs touching up. I retained all of the parts changed out such as the original generator, etc.
