Vehicle Detail
Thank you for your interest in my auction. Let me start by saying, I know it can be stressful buying a vehicle sight unseen. Some sellers on here tend to write one or two paragraphs about their vehicle & then only add 1 or 2 pictures. I don't think this is enough. I want you to know everything I know about whatever I'm selling. For this reason, my descriptions tend to be a little on the long side. I also add 24 super-sized pictures. Please take the time to read the entire ad. If you have any questions after reading, please ask. I will answer all of your questions promptly. Remember, this rare Dodge Diesel is listed with NO RESERVE ! Description- This is among the hardest to find of all the diesel pick-up's. There were very few Loaded, Cummins Powered, Single Cab, Dodges made & the ones that were very seldom turn up for sale. Plus this truck is a 1-owner, GA vehicle that has been maticulously maintained & is TOTALLY RUST FREE! I say (1-owner) because my Step-Mother recently purchased this Dodge from a local man who purchased it brand spanking new from a Dodge dealership here in GA. I am very familiar with these diesels, since I have owned dozens of them. So.. I went with her to purchase this one. I met the elderly original owner & talked with him in great depth about this truck. Turns out that he was an outside sales rep for a company who sales outboard motors to boat dealerships all over the Southeast. He told me he had owned a 1991 Dodge Diesel dually & loved it but he really didn't need a dually so when this new body style came out in 1994... he went straight to the Dodge store & traded his 91' in on this truck. He had the dealership remove all the emblems before he picked the truck up. He said it gave the truck a much cleaner look & I agree. All this super tight little truck has ever been used for is driving from one boat dealer to another as he made his rounds, selling boat motors & parts. Virtually all of the miles on this vehicle are from freeway driving. He said he very seldom hauled anything in the bed but when he did, it was nothing more than a boat motor which weighed less than 1000lbs. The only time he towed anything with the truck is when he had time off & was able to take his personal boat to the lake & get in a little fishing. This man understood the importance of maintenance! This truck was his livelyhood. If it was down, he would not be able to make his sales rounds. He kept this truck in tip top condition. NOTHING was neglected. Somewhere I have a log he kept of every single thing he did to this truck, when he did it & what it cost. From changing a light bulb, to oil changes, to brake services to the factory reman transmission that was installed about 30,000 miles ago. After talking to him & driving the truck.. I knew it would be hard to find another in this condition so my Step-Mom bought it. The whole reason for needing a truck was the fact that she recently acquired two houses that she intended to rent out. She wanted a truck so she could move furniture, haul off trash, tow a small landscape trailer etc.... This truck would have worked great for her needs but it turns out she was able to sell both houses for a profit before she ever did the first thing to them. Now she finds herself with no need for a truck. So that's why I listed it as 1-owner. I guess technically it is a 2-owner vehicle but she has only owned the truck for about 6 months & has driven it less than 1500 miles. So I don't think she counts. Drivetrain- This truck is powered by the legendary 12-valve, 5.9 liter, in-line six cylinder, Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. I have owned every kind of diesel powered truck imaginable & the 12-valve Cummins is hands down the most powerful, durable, trouble fee & fuel efficient diesel ever put in a pickup. With gasoline & diesel fuel prices jumping in recent weeks, it's nice to have a truck as capable as this Dodge yet get about the same miles per gallon as a Toyota Tacoma! I know. I own a 1995 Ram 2500 with this same exact drivetrain that I drive daily. I love it! You just can't beat a 12-valve Cummins Turbo Diesel. This particular engine runs just as it should. The engine is quiet & smooth. There is no blow-by. No smoke. No skipping. No missing. No overheating. Nothing but clean power. There have been no performance modifications made to the truck. Everything is bone stock. It is just like the Dodge engineers designed it to be. I have owned both the 12 valve & the 24 valve Cummins engines. Both are great diesels but personally I feel the 12 valve motors, like the one in this truck, are the better of the two. Unlike the newer 24-valve engines which depend on a computer to control the injectors, these 12 valve engines are mechanically injected. In my experience, that makes the 12 valve less problematic & far more reliable. Though this truck is showing 335,391 miles it is easy to tell that it has been taken care of. This engine runs as good as the day it was born. I can find no problems with it at all. No hard starting. You can let this truck sit for days & go right out, hit the key & she fires right up on the 1st try every time. The oil pressure comes right up & stays up all day long. By nature, all these older diesels are going to weep a little oil here & there. However, I see no major fluid leaks of any kind. There are no abnormal noises. Like I said, nothing but smooth power. I have personally owned these 12 valve powered Dodges with well over 700,000 miles that were still going strong without any major engine repairs. My Uncle recently sold his 1997 Ram 3500 dually powered by a 12-valve. That truck had just over 400,000 miles. It still ran & drove very much like a new truck. The Cummins in this rare single cab should last for many 100's of thousands of miles to come. The automatic transmission is also in LIKE NEW working order. No abnormal noises. No jerking or hard shifts. No slipping or soft shift. Just a smooth & quiet shift though all gears at all speed. Overdrive works just as it should. The lock-up torque converter works just as it should. This is a remanufactured transmission & brand new converter which was installed by Dodge. The rear differential is also quiet & tight. No slack or roaring. No problems. The 12 valve Cummins in combination with the 2wd drivetrain & the reduced weight of a single cab truck makes this one of the most fuel friendly Diesels I have every driven. This Dodge seems to be averaging 23 mpg in a mixture of around town & freeway driving! Plus it has the power to pull anything you want to hook to it! The single cab & 2wd makes this truck perfect for a daily driver. It is just as maneuverable as any other single cab pick-up. It's easy to park. It has a great turning radius. You will forget you are driving a 3/4 ton truck. The steering & suspension components also feel nice & tight. The truck holds the road well. No dipping, darting or wandering around. It handles well but would drive better with different tires. The current tires were installed by the previous owner. They do have the correct E Load Range rating for this truck. However, they have a very aggressive, all-terrain tread design & as such, have a very noticable amount of road noise. I would imagine they have 60-70% tread life remaining so our plan was to run them until they needed to be replaced & then install a new set with a straight, road tread design. The brakes do not pulsate and appear to have plenty of life left. Mechanically this entire truck seems to be in excellent condition. Body & Frame- This is a life long Southern vehicle so there is absolutely no rust or corrosion on anything anywhere. I see no signs of collision repair or paint work. However, the original owner did tell me that he was rearended 2 times in this truck. Once while sitting at a stop sign in his neigborhood. He said the damage was very minor but he did have it fixed at his local Dodge dealership. The second time he was waiting in line to pick his Grandson up from school & another parent rolled into him & put a very slight dent in the rear bumper. He did not fix the truck because it was so very minor. I pictured the bumper dent below. Aside from that, all of the body panels line up as they should. The door, hood & tailgate hinges & latches are nice & tight. As to be expected there are a few minor dings, scratches & rock chips here & there but overall this truck is in far above average condition. The white paint on these trucks was known for peeling. This truck DOES have several small areas of touch-up to correct this. I did nothing more than hand wash the truck & you can see by the pictures that the paint still has a great shine. You can see the reflection of everything around the truck in the paint. From the buildings to the other vehicles in the parking lot. I wanted you to see the truck as it looks everyday. Just imagine how nice it would be with a good detail job. Interior- The interior is also in far above average condition. There are NO CRACKS in the dash which is rare on any 94-02 Dodge truck. The door panels are in good shape. The driver's side shows wear on the armrest & a few cigarette burn marks. The original owner told me he was a smoker years ago. He has had the interior professionally cleaned several times in the years since he quit smoking. I am a non-smoker & can detect NO cigarette odors in this vehicle. The carpet is in great shape for a vehicle of this age. The headliner looks great. With most single cab pickups it seems like you never have enough room to store anything & you almost always end up with a traditional bench seat which is uncomfortable for everyone. This Dodge does not have either of those problems. This truck has the same 3 way split bench seat you find in the access cab Dodges. Both the driver & the passenger have a fully independant, fully adjustable bucket type seat. In the center there is a stationary seat for a 3rd person or the center backrest can be folded down to allow a large center console with huge storage compartment. All sections of this seat are in excellent condition. All hinges & latches work as they should. There are no rips or busted seams. These Dodges are known for the driver's seat wearing through on the edges from people getting in & out. This seat shows NO wear, which is another sure sign all the miles were from freeway driving. He was NOT getting in & out constantly. He was just cruising. Easy miles! Behind the seats you find plenty of room for large items & also several hanging bins for smaller cargo. You would never think this truck would have so much storage behind the seat! Options- The options on this truck are many. It has the factory chrome wheels, bumpers & grille of an SLT Laramie truck so the outer appearance is not that of a work vehicle like many white trucks you see. It has ice cold a/c. It has toasty warm heat. It has tilt, power steering. It has cruise control. It has power windows & locks. It has a premium factory stereo. It has the 3 way split cloth seat. All of the options you would expect to find on a SLT Laramie. Everything is working just as it should. I really like the way this truck is equipped. It has a great balance of appearance, comfort & utility. There is also an electric trailer brake controller under the dash, a heavy duty receiver hitch under the rear bumper & a factory bedliner. The original owner ran a chain across the front of the bed floor & bolted it on each side. This gives you a great place to hook tie straps & bungees. MISC.- You may notice in the under hood pictures, there is a chrome plate which says (PRIME-LOC). This is an aftermarket remote fuel filter system. Since diesel fuel contains more impurities than gasoline, it is very important to keep the fuel reaching your engine clean. This system uses a spin-on fuel filter that is standard on many, larger diesel engines & is available at ANY autoparts store. The system relocates the fuel filter to the top of the engine, making it far easier to access. Now changing your fuel filter can be accomplished without getting under the truck. Simply open the hood, spin the old filter off..... then spin the new filter on. This is a great system & will help keep this 5.9 Cummins engine running strong for many years to come. I have 2 brand new fuel filters which I am including with the truck. This Dodge still retains it's factory jack & tool kit. It has it's original full size spare underneath the bed. The original owner's manual is still in the glove box. Title- I have a clean, clear, fully transferable GA title on this vehicle. BIDDING- Please only bid what you are prepared to pay for this vehicle. Anyone wishing to inspect the truck or have the truck inspected is welcome to do so but inspections must be completed prior to bidding & prior to auction's end. If you have little or no feedback please do not bid without first sending me your contact info through the ASK SELLER A QUESTION link in this listing so that we can speak on the phone prior to you placing your bid. If you look at my feedback comments you will see that all of the REAL buyers have been very happy after dealing with me. Many of the comments are from people who have been very happy with diesel trucks they have bought from me. SHIPPING- Shipping costs & arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. However, I have assisted buyers & their shippers in the pickup of several vehicles over the years. I can recommend several shippers who have performed well for buyers in the past but you will have to make your own arrangements with them. I will work with you & your shipper so that they can get this truck to you as fast & cost effectively as possible. However, no matter where you live, the point of sell will be here in GEORGIA as that is where I live & where the vehicle is located. As always, you are more than welcome to pick this vehicle up in person. I will be more than happy to pick you up at the Atlanta Airport or local Amtrac station, free of charge. This Dodge is truly a rare find. The fact that it is a life long Southern vehicle & a one owner vehicle means that you don't have to worry about rust or rust repair & you can bet that the truck has been well cared for over the years. Then add in the fact that this is a 12 valve Cummins powered, 2wd, single cab which is loaded with options. All of these things add up to make this the perfect truck for just about any task. Whether it's working around the house or on the job site.... Hauling your boat to the lake or camper to the mountains.... Towing your race car trailer to the track or your 2-car trailer across the country.... This Dodge will get the job done efficiently & in comfort. I wish I could keep it. I know I won't find another one like this. But, I already have a very similar 95' model. I'm still sad to see this rare truck go. But, on the bright side, you are going to get a great truck at a small fraction of the cost of a new one. This Dodge will handle the toughest of jobs with ease & still get better fuel mileage than a Toyota Tacoma! When you are not using this Dodge as a hauler, it can easily be a daily commuter. It's not too big & bulky. This truck is very comfortable to drive every single day. The 12 Valve diesel offers plenty of pep & excellent fuel economy. Just an all around great truck.
