Up for auction is my Wife's '73 Convertible Super Beetle! (Son in college forces sale!) This has been her favorite car for the past 5 years, and is a local daily driver in good weather. We did tow it behind a motor home a couple of times (that was also sold for college), and it was especially fun to drive at Pismo Beach during the summer! Though we never drove it on the beach. We also drove to/from Pismo (distance of about 650 miles round trip) with no troubles, just a great drive! This Beetle has NOT been fully restored, which makes it good for driving/towing without too much worry about dings, etc. Keeps it fun! There are a few dings and imperfections in the paint, the car was originally orange as can be seen in the trunk and under the dash. Our goal was to eventually restore it but in white with black trim, pretty much as it is now. New aluminum trim was installed about 4 years ago, along with new seat padding. The engine has approx. 3000 - 5000 miles on it since overhaul. A new distributor was recently installed. California car so there is NO rust. The suspension is very good, as are the tires and brakes. A tow bar assembly is also included. This is the one specifically made for Super Beetles, and the chassis mount was installed with through bolts for added safety. A large gauge safety chain is also included, along with magnetic base tow lights (for rear bumper). We are also including a car cover. As I said, this was my Wife's favorite car so we took great care of it. It has always been garage kept when at home, with a battery maintainer which we might let go with the car as well. The tow bar, car cover, and tow lights all fit in the trunk even with the spare tire in place. The really nice thing about this Super Beetle Convertible is the canvas top and boot (cost over $3,500), original tops were vinyl. This makes such a huge difference in the appearance and makes it very classy. It is also very easy to keep clean, any bird droppings come off with a wet towel. There is also a dash mat which does hide a couple of cracks in the dash pad. You may find other Super Beetle Convertibles for sale but not ones that where appreciated like this one. We actually spent a lot of time looking for this specific year since it was the last year of the carburetor in the U.S. Being a '73 also means it is smog exempt in California! A $500.00 deposit will be required within 24 hours of auction end. Balance in cashier's check within 7 days of auction end (at time of pick-up). The car is currently registered and insured. One of the pictures shows flower patterned carpet, these are floor mats front and rear! The carpeting was replaced a few years ago, and is still like new. The floor mats are there to protect the carpeting.
