This model was specially imported and converted for the US market by G&K Auto in Los Angeles and is EPA and DOT certified. This is not like most other smartUSA cars that you see on the roads. This car has the original Mercedes three cylinder 700cc turbocharged and inter-cooled engine which produces 61 horsepower and is connected to a 6-speed, Softouch clutch-less manual transmission. It is capable of 85mph and gets about 48 mpg on the highway and 43 mpg in the city. You can go for 375-400 miles on a tank of gas (8.7 gallons). Obviously, the exact mileage and range will depend on your driving style. In contrast, the American smart fortwo (the 451) is 7” longer, 1” wider and weighs 150lbs more than this car. All smart fortwos have excellent visibility, due to the hood-less front, crisp handling, electronic stability control, and ABS brakes. The other key safety feature is the Tridion Safety Cell which is designed to protect the occupants. It is built similarly to the safety cages in racing cars. This smart fortwo is 4.7” shorter than a Mini Cooper, making this one of the shortest production cars in the world. Amazingly, two of them (sideways) can fit in a standard parking spot. This car is located in the state of California, and titled in Nevada. It has approximately 21,800 carefully driven miles on it (about 3640 miles/year).
