Vehicle Detail
Here is a PHS documented Black and Gold 1979 Special Edition Trans Am, that has power windows, air conditioning, rear defrost, power trunk release, power locks, special edition package, black cloth hobnail interior, automatic transmission, 6.6 Liter motor (non matching Pontiac 400), factory T-Tops, etc. 1979 was the last year for the big block, and the first year of the new euro style front end. In my opinion this year was the best looking Trans Am ever built, and probably why more were sold that year than any other. This is a show and shine ready car for someone to jump in and enjoy. This car was restored by RESTORE A MUSCLECAR. They have restored dozens of these second generation Trans Am’s and have also built the Year One BURT REYNOLDS EDITION Cars. The detail work that went into this car is far too much to explain. I will tell you that all panels, including hood, deck lid, fenders, bumpers, spoilers, doors, glass, hinges, weather stripping, the entire interior, excluding the dash, and most major parts where removed, cleaned refinished or replaced before being reassembled. INTERIOR points of interest: Re-covered dash (handle above glove box included) Great original door panels (reconditioned) Great seats (no rips or tears - rare black cloth hobnail) New carpet Refinished gold dash bezel Great console with new lid Aftermarket stereo CD player and speakers Power windows and door locks All glass looks good (no cracks or major scratches) New PPG windshield Solid trunk - still in exceptional condition Space saver spare and jack assembly (restored) New shifter button and door panel emblems New weather stripping around doors, trunk, and shaker New Lloyd custom floor mats New headliner and custom T-Top inserts EXTERIOR points of interest: Show quality paint (PPG base/clear - completely stripped down - all panels removed - over $7k) New phoenix graphics Special Edition decal kit installed New BF Goodrich Radial TA tires Refinished wheels 15x8 - (stripped, painted, machined & powder coated clear All spoilers where pulled and painted off the car with new welting (no cracks) Original RUST FREE floors, frame rails (w/frame connectors), and rear bumper support New door panel felt New door window moldings New door bumpers DRIVELINE points of interest: New front suspension and tie rods New front springs New rear springs New front and rear shocks New factory exhaust manifolds (no leaky headers here) New dual exhaust mufflers and tips New brake booster and master cylinder New brakes and brake lines Detailed engine compartment Rebuilt engine with all new gaskets and seals Rebuilt carburetor (factory Quadra jet) Newer battery Stainless steel bolts used in reassembly New air cleaner New radiator and cap All belts and hoses replace New alternator New heater fan AC blow cold on all four fan speeds New 3:73 rear end gears All the gauges in the dash work great, even the clock. It runs and drives great. It is a super fun car to drive with plenty of power, and the best part is, it is a Black Smokey and the Bandit car, that everyone will point at and stare as you drive by or pull up in it. The T-Tops are in beautiful condition, no cracks, and they seal great with all new weather stripping. You will get a lot of complements on this car. Included with the car are the original Fisher t-top bags and any other receipts or information about its previous owners or history that I have available. This car is stored on a lift in a heated garage. It has less than 4000 miles on it since its restoration. If you are picky like me about paint jobs, than this is the car for you. Many hours and many layers of clear coat went into making this one beautiful car. Fifteen years ago, you could still find these cars behind people's garages, with the engine hanging from a tree. They are now hard to find, especially true black and gold SE cars. And no disrespect to the other colors, but black and gold is the one to have. Unless those Japanese kid cars with the spoilers stuck onto them become collectible, these are the last of the true muscle cars. One can only guess what these cars will be worth in ten years with Pontiac now going goodbye! I have close to $30k invested into this car, but have set the reserve at thousands less, so bid to win! Make sure all your financing is in order before bidding, feel free to email or call for anything (402-880-6036). This car is available to drive and view locally. You can even have it inspected by a mechanic of your choice or through an inspection service. The vehicle is sold as/is where/is, and is described to the best of my knowledge. You will not be disappointed in this muscle car. The winning bidder will have a car that will only go up in value.
