I have a small garage and the $150 a month cost of the storage building I have my other Opel projects in getting a bit much. I have been into Opels a while (mainly Mantas) and was restoring this GT to be my middle sons car, the "deal" was a B average. Well now I am done.. and with way less than B average, I am going to see about finding it a new home. I have put less than 200 miles on it since it was finished. Final assembly and road testing happened within the last few days. So it doesn't get any cleaner a restoration than that. NOTE: Original mileage of the car was approximately 80,000 miles when the speedometer was replaced during the restoration. Mileage listed is mileage since restoration was completed 2-1-2011. Paint job is Barcelona Red, and in bright sunlight light looks really red and in the pictures came out a little pinkish and the Red stands out more. The real color also doesn't look as brown as like the smaller pictures taken in lower light. Its a dark red with a fine gold metallic flake. But other than lighting nothing was done to the paint to make the color look different. So as you can tell its really hard to get the full brilliance of the color in the pictures. It's quite a striking color somewhere between the red of the sunlight pictures and with a touch of the gold brillance seen in the smaller ones. Appraised Retail Value: $8,900 Appraised Replacement Value : $12,500 Exterior: 8.5 • Repainted 2010, body was completely stripped to shell and gone over. • Body chemically stripped to the bare metal • All the rust damage was cut and replaced with sheet metal. • Paint job is only 2 months old and does have some imperfections when you get up close. Most flaws are minor. • New Windshield gaskets • All door rubber, pop-out window gaskets, etc.. replaced with new rubber. • New front curved lenses, side marker lenses, and license plate lenses • New lense gaskets, door gaskets, pop out window grommets • New clear front market lights • New Side marker lights • New license plate lenses • Bumpers painted silver (w/ 3 coats of clear) to match rims. • Paint does have some orange peel, could use light wet sanding to be perfect. • Headlights and mechanisms roll over smooth and perfectly • Front and Rear windshields are green tinted Interior : 8 • Seats are original style (With Velour insert) and in very good condition. • Dash is in good condition (Opel GT Source ABS Cover). • Electrical dash rewired with new bulbs • All gauges were replaced with clean, bright gauges (lettering is nice and white and needles are bright orange and not faded) that work • Overall the interior is very clean • New carpet • Minor flaws in headliner Mechanics: 9.5 • Motor cleaned & Repainted • Motor has good compression (avg 130 PSI Compression less than 5% variance piston to piston) • New Weber 32/36 carb, linkage cleaned with new bushings • New Clutch Disc, Pressure plate, Throw out bearing, and cable • New NGK Iridium plugs, Mallory wires, pertronix, cap and rotor • New Mallory Coil • New Motor Mounts • New Belts • New Thermostat and Radiator hoses • New Gas Shocks (Yellow Koni Front, KYB Gas-A-Just Rear) • New torque tube doughnut • New exhaust manifold, exhaust manifold gasket • New exhaust head pipe, center muffler, over axle pipe and rear muffler • Motor runs extremely well and smooth. • Has Pertronix electronic ignition. • Cleaned heater core & fan assembly (No mouse habits in fan) • New Opel GT Source heater control panel (Made of Aluminmum and not plastic so it will never break) • New heater valve & hoses • Cleaned and replaced wiper motor & wiper blades • New brake pads • Purged & replaced old brake fluid brake fluid Major / Modern Upgrades include: • New modern wiring harness with blade fuses • Panasonic CD Player w/ 5" Infinity Speakers • Custom Rims and Tires (195/50r15) • Larger 5 blade fan (for optimal cooling) • Hidden antenna (Seen low at base of windshield), so no antenna sticking out from the car to ruin the lines or get broken. • Electric windshield washer squirter • CIBIE H4 Halogen Headlamps• All taillights are red and all four light up with headlights, parking lights to improve visibility at night. • Corner lights converted to turn signals • Custom Fog lamps (Where original turn signals were) Notes: • Will help arrange shipping or deliver it myself (Within 300 miles of Richmond Virginia) • NO SCAMS PLEASE OR I WILL REPORT YOU TO FBI • NO I WILL NOT TAKE A CHECK FOR MORE THAN ITS WORTH TO SHIP IT TO YOU AND GIVE YOUR "FRIEND" THE DIFFERENCE WILL DELIVER WITHIN 400 MILES OF RICHMOND VIRGINIA IF YOU USE BUY-IT-NOW FOR FREE Many have asked about parts and such.. The GT is real easy to work on, and parts for the Opel GT are VERY easy to get.. as easy if not easier than many more common cars like the Chevelle, Mustang, Porsche, Fiats, etc.. One main reason is Opel GT Source, a Opel GT specialty vendor in California, that carries or reproduces almost everything mechanically for the GT. On Feb-22-11 at 12:14:52 PST, seller added the following information: Note the first picture is the area under the wiper motor that usually rots out. That picture shows the Rust Bullet Epoxy being applied before I finished the repair. Rust repair was done with welded metal patches, Rust Bullet coating, and All-Metal. These pictures are different than the ones used on ebay and were taken the day before and are a little grainy.
