Vehicle Detail
1996 Corvette Convertible C4 Torch Red LT1 350 cubic inch, 300 Horsepower Automatic Transmission 64,900 miles This car is ready for show. Finish is dramatic and clear. Car has a complete C4R Ground Effects kit installed including front with driving lights, sides and rear with spoiler. Upgraded Z06 wheels – not knock-offs. Excellent condition – 10 out of 10. Attention getting appearance with racing car appeal. Nothing needs to be done – just drive it and enjoy. I’m only selling it because I got another corvette on a good deal and I don’t need two! When you see this car, you'll want to drive it home! Last year the following work was done: Engine: (work done by Corvette Masters in Orlando) All seals replaced (Oil pan gasket, timing cover gasket, serpentine belt, front crank seal and timing cover seal) This was all done as preventative work - not to repair problems. Same is true for the hoses below.) New hoses (upper and lower radiator hose, bulk heater hose) New water pump Headlamp mechanisms rebuilt with delrin bushings Chassis New shocks (front and rear – Monroe Sensa-track) New tires – Firestone Firehawk Wideoval New spare New rear hub bearings Body: New rubber seals for convertible top and along windshield Interior: New seats Carpets removed and steam cleaned New Pioneer Radio with GPS, CD, Bluetooth, iPod and iPhone connections (XM available but not hooked up) New visors (may not sound important, but when you learn about corvettes you’ll understand why it IS!) Leather center console cover with Corvette emblem Other: Complete 2-volume service manual Additional Haynes C4 repair manual Extra Magnaflo stainless steel mufflers in case you want a louder engine rumble You will see C4s for a variety of prices - like with other cars, cheaper ones have been driven more and may look "appropriately aged". This car is in immaculate condition. The work I've had done is to eliminate big dollar repairs down the road. I put new tires on all around. The engine work I had done totaled more than $2500. New seals, hoses and water pump will address most of the things that create problems in car engines. Most of the spare tires for these cars are either rotted or missing and they are really hard to find - this car has a brand new one. The Bose radio in these was a cassette unit that often goes bad by now, and some people replace it with a simple 1-din CD radio. My car has a very nice 2-din unit that has CD, GPS, AM/FM, Bluetooth and a connector for ipod/iphone, plus it looks factory installed. There is even a switch to raise and lower the antenna so that you don't have to have the antenna up when you are using your ipod or CD. I replaced the seats to make it look like it did from the factory. The motorized track units for each front seat is also new - one wasn't working properly so I replaced both. There is only one thing that is not functioning on this car and that is the PKE, or Proximity Key Entry system. This is a notoriously challenging system in Corvettes that allows you to approach the car with the fob in your pocket and have the doors unlock (this system was discontinued in later years). Most do not work properly and owners often disable it. Mine has been diagnosed to have a bad PKE Module - a $350 unit that mounts behind the dash. I bought a replacement module, but have not installed it and was going to wait until I had good reason to remove the dash. I’ve been to several Corvette gatherings and this car stands out in a crowd - usually getting more interest than cars costing three times its value. The ground effects give it a timeless appearance, yet it is still very much a Corvette. If you look at pics of Racing Corvettes, that is the effect of this system. It looks like the car is moving when it is just sitting there. Beyond the looks, I just trailered it up to US 129 in North Carolina to take on the Tail of the Dragon and Skyway. It drove like a dream, hugging each turn without wearing you out - and still gets around 23 MPG!! If you need more info or want additional pics, let me know. Thanks for your interest. As I said in my ad - I am only selling this because I got a killer deal on a C5. This C4 is an amazing car.
