Vehicle Detail

Hello, let me start by saying that I realize how stressful it can be to buy a vehicle sight un-seen. I don't think a paragraph & 2 or 3 pictures is enough to accurately describe any vehicle, let alone a 27 year old classic. I want you to know everything I know about anything I list. For that reason, my postings tend to be a little on the long side. I also post 24 super sized pictures. Please take the time to read the item description & view the pictures. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. I have sold classic vehicles to buyers all over the world & everyone seems to be very happy with what they buy from me. I'm sure you will be also. This rare GMC pick-up is amazing. Anyone would be proud to own this truck! This is a true auction.....NO RESERVE..... High bidder wins!!! DESCRIPTION- Square bodied, 4 wheel drive, General Motors pick-up trucks have always been very popular. It seems that as newer trucks become increasingly more expensive & more complicated to maintain.... these tried & true classics are becoming even more popular. It is getting harder to find a good one everyday. THIS GMC IS A GOOD ONE! I was quite lucky to find this truck. A friend of mine who works at a local auto auction, called me when the truck came in & told me I had to come check it out. She knew that I had restored several 82-87's over the years. When I got to the auction I was truly shocked at how nice this truck was. It didn't look like a typical auction vehicle. After doing a little research, I found out that this truck actually belonged to a local Dodge dealership. I was able to track down a representative from that dealership who told me that this truck was a personal vehicle of one of the dealership's owners. He told me that the truck was taken in on trade by the dealership 6 years ago & at that time the owner decided he wanted to keep this truck for his daily driver. So....... it was sent into their service center. Many things were rebuilt or upgraded at that time. The original 305ci motor was replaced by a completely rebuilt 350ci small block. The problematic 700R4 transmission was replaced with a rebuilt TH350 automatic which is a far better transmission. Since this GMC came equipped from the factory with 3:08 gears...... the TH350 automatic is actually a better transmission choice for this vehicle. Many of these trucks came from the factory with the exact drivetrain combo that this GMC is now running. (350ci V8, TH350 automatic transmission & 3:08 geared differentials). The rep said that after the truck was finished, the owner drove it 4 or 5 times a year & the rest of the time it sat in his garage. The dealership is now downsizing & this is one of the many vehicles they sent to auction. I was able to secure the truck before it made it's way through the auction lane, but just barely. I have no proof that what the rep told me was true but I have been dealing with these trucks for many years & after giving this one a good once over, I can find no reason to doubt anything I was told. The dates on the title also check out & it does show the Dodge dealership as the owner. This truck is extremely clean, completely solid, totally straight & very strong. It's not a brand new truck but it is about as nice of an 84 driver as you will ever find. BODY & PAINT- As you can see in the pictures, this is a nice looking pick-up. All of the body lines are straight. All of the panel gaps are uniform. The doors have no hinge drop & open/close as they should. All of the sheet metal is as straight as you could hope to find on a 27 year old vehicle. The bed sides are string straight! It's very easy to tell that this truck has never done any hard work. I believe the truck was repainted several years ago. It appears to be a factory quality re-spray of the original two-tone colors. As you can see, the paint looks good but there are various chips & touch-up's here & there. From the belt molding down has been PROFESSIONALLY Rhino Lined with color matched spray liner. I was told that this was done by the previous owner (Dodge dealer) when he had the inside of the bed spray lined. I was told that this was done to give the truck a rugged, custom look & NOT to hide any rust or body damage. I am VERY skeptical of anything a car dealer tells me so I gave this truck a total body inspection. I can find no rust. No rust repair & No Bondo in this Chevy anywhere! The areas which are known to rust on these trucks are totally rust free on this one. The inner & outer rocker panels are perfect. The cab corners are perfect. The bottoms of the doors are perfect. The corners of the door skins are perfect. The bottoms of the front fenders are perfect. The front fender under the battery tray is perfect. The inner fenders are perfect. I can find none of the usual rust or rust repair on this truck. It is as solid as they come! Obviously I can't actually see under the Rhino coating but I have been restoring classic vehicles long enough that I feel sure I would be able to tell if there was body work under there. I can find none. Also, it stands to reason that if there was rust on the outer rockers hiding under the liner, there would be rust on the inner rockers too. There is not. The inner rockers are NOT Rhino lined yet they are 100% rock solid & rust free. I have this area pictured below. Also pictured are the lower, inner door skins & framing which are TOTALLY rust free. All of the floor pans, pan braces, body mounts, bed supports etc.... are also TOTALLY rust free. This is truly a solid pick-up truck. I was thinking about keeping this truck & was curious about removing or possibly painting over the Rhino lining, if I decided to completely restore the truck one day. I was told that there is a stripper to remove the lining. I was also told that the current lining could be painted over with any kind of automotive paint & be just fine. This is NOT a rubber lining. It is a hard epoxy type textured lining so it can be painted over without fear of cracking or pealing. All in all, I think the previous owner was right. The body lining he had done does give the truck a rugged, custom look. Plus it protects the areas which are known to rust on these trucks. If I were to keep the truck..... I would leave it. DRIVETRAIN- As stated above, this truck is powered by a recently rebuilt 5.7 liter, 350 cubic inch V8. This particular engine runs like new. No smoke. No engine noise. No problems at all. I was told that the entire engine was rebuilt & professionally installed by a local Dodge dealership for one of the dealership's owners. A new Edelbrock 4bbl carburetor w/electric choke & Edelbrock aluminum intake was installed at that time. Along with an entirely new exhaust system (full length headers, all new aluminized tubing & dual Flowmaster mufflers). This truck was intended to be a daily driver so the engine was given a very mild cam that performs well & sounds great, but nothing too radical. The transmission is a stock rebuilt TH350 with a factory torque converter. It performs flawlessly. The transfer case is an aluminum 208. It works just as it should through all selections (2wd-HI, 4wd-HI, N, 4wd-LO). This is NOT one of the gas guzzling all-time 4wd models. This truck has a 2WD selection on the transfer case & manual locking hubs. Both hubs lock & unlock as they should. Both the front & rear differentials are nice & tight. Both are quiet & both packed with 3:08 gears. All tune up components appear new. All of the fluids have just been changed. OPTIONS- This is the Sierra Custom model so it does have chrome bumpers & grille, all of which are in great condition. It is not a Grande or Silverado so there are no power window or locks. However, there is power steering & power brakes. There is also ice cold a/c & toasty warm heat. There is a very nice CD player in the dash & Pioneer speakers behind the seat. This truck has a ClassIII receiver hitch & trailer wiring under the rear bumper. The truck has side window vent shades, aluminum side steps & diamond plate aluminum bed rail protectors. CHASSIS- Though there is a little dirt on the underside of this truck, you can see in the pictures that everything is in great shape. It is obvious that this is a life long Southern vehicle. There is no heavy rust or corrosion on anything! I can find no signs that the truck has every been wrecked. Everything looks clean & straight. The 4 inch suspension lift is installed properly. There are Rancho Shocks on all four corners. The truck tracks straight. It does not drive like a lifted vehicle. This GMC steers easily & does not dip, dart or wander. INTERIOR- The interior is as clean & nice as the outside! The original bench looks almost as though it has never been sat on. The factory original seat upholstery shows no tears, no split seams & no repairs. There are no worn down spots in the cushions. The original foam still retains it's factory shape. The hinges, latches & slides are all free from wear & work just as they should. The door panels are in great shape. As you probably know, the dash pads in all of these trucks crack. This one is no different. There are a few small cracks. It looks just fine like it is but I do know of a company who makes a hard nylon dash cap for this truck for very little money. The cap is molded & textured to be an exact fit & give a factory original look. I have used them in the past on restoration jobs & they look fantastic. It takes about 5 minutes to install & no one will ever know it is a cover. The cost is about $120.00 & I can give you all the company's contact info if you'd like. The stock original sun visors still look like new & the driver's side still has the factory 4wd operating instructions in place. The windshield is perfect with no stars or cracks. Both side glasses are in great shape & roll up/down as they should, though they could stand to be lubricated. The rear glass is a slider. All of the gauges, speedo, wipers, blinkers, headlights, taillights etc... are in perfect working order. TIRES & WHEELS- The wheels are factory, steel, 15 inch GM truck rallies. All are straight & true. This truck rides on a matching set of 33X12.50X15 Mickey Thompson Radial tires. They ride good with very little tire noise. All four have 20-30% tread remaining. All four are wearing evenly. No cupping. No feathering. No worn edges. So you can be sure that the steering & suspension components are nice & tight & free from wear. * This is a TRUE auction! * NO RESERVE! * Low starting bid! * You set the final price! * Bid what you think the truck is worth to you! * If you are the high bidder at the end... YOU WIN! TITLE- I have a clean, clear, fully transferable GA title on this vehicle. I own a small street rod shop & in order to purchase this truck on the spot, I had to buy it in my business name. This means that the sale is just like that on one of my streetrods. If you are an out of state resident you will only pay your winning eBay bid amount. You are exempt fron GA state sales tax. However, if you are a GA resident I must collect sales tax & pay it to the state on your behalf. The sales tax amount will be 7% of your winning bid amount. So if you are a GA bidder, you will have to pay the 7% over your winning bid amount. If you are a non-Georgia bidder, you will not have to pay anything other than your winning bid amount. NO HIDDEN FEES! NO DOC FEES! NOTHING! BIDDING- Please only bid what you are prepared to pay for this vehicle. Anyone wishing to inspect the truck or have the truck inspected is welcome to do so but inspections must be completed prior to bidding & prior to auction's end. If you have little or no feedback please do not bid without first sending me your contact info through the ASK SELLER A QUESTION link in this listing so that we can speak on the phone prior to you placing your bid. I have encountered a couple of crooks/ scammers here on eBay who have cost me both time & money. This will no longer be tolerated so if you are not a SERIOUS buyer, PLEASE MOVE ON. All members with a genuine interest in this vehicle are more than welcome to ask questions. All will be answered promptly. If you look at my feedback comments you will see that all of the REAL buyers have been very happy after dealing with me. Many of the comments are from people who have been very happy with classic trucks they have bought from me. SHIPPING- Shipping costs & arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. However, I have assisted buyers & their shippers in the pickup of several vehicles over the years. I can recommend several shippers who have performed well for buyers in the past but you will have to make your own arrangements with them. I will work with you & your shipper so that they can get this truck to you as fast & cost effectively as possible. However, no matter where you live or how you choose to pay, the legal point of sell will be here in GEORGIA as that is where I live & where the vehicle is located. As always, you are more than welcome to pick this vehicle up in person. I will be more than happy to pick you up at the Atlanta Airport or local Amtrac station, free of charge so that you may drive this truck home. I have sold many vehicles to overseas buyers & have no problem with that. However, I do ask international / overseas bidders to contact me prior to bidding. If you have been shopping for a good truck, I don't think you could ask for anything better than this rare GMC! It's not a brand new truck....... but it is nice! This Sierra has been up-graded & serviced by the owner of a new car dealership. This 4X4 is ready to be your daily driver. Mechanically it's dependable, capable & economical. Cosmetically it looks great, is very clean & comfortable to drive. It's hard to find them like this. I hope you get it! thanks, JD This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.
