Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my beloved 1981 Mercedes 240D named Heda. I purchased this car about a year ago and have spent a considerable amount of time and money bringing the car to daily driver standards. I know little of the cars past other than the fact the car has well cared for as the body and interior are in above average condition. The interior of the car is a rare color as I have owned many 123 chassis Mercedes and have never seen this color combination. In fact, I think it is by far more pleasant to the eye than the common palomino that most of these cars are equipped with. The car has manual heating and a/c which performs flawlessly. The A/C compressor is in need of replacement as it is leaking at the case which is common of GM R4 compressors. As an independent Volkswagen/Audi specialist, I have had been able to acquire the finest replacement parts. Upon purchase, I replaced both flex discs, serviced the valve train, changed the transmission fluid and filter, replaced all filters with Mann or Hengst filters, rebuilt the vacuum pump with OEM parts, replaced the thermostat with an OEM Wahler, replaced the grille as the original was missing some trim pieces, replaced the hood star with an OEM Mercedes star, replaced all interior and exterior lamps (the shifter bezel is the only lamp that does not function). The original Becker Europa radio still functions and the speakers still sound rather well for the age (the cassette no longer works). The car has had some body work on the right front fender and door as a small amount of rust can be seen on the fender and signs of bondo exist. The jack ports and undercarriage are pristine as can be seen by the pictures. I also installed a new OEM Mercedes engine block heater and new Bosch glow plugs and controller. The engine starts without a flaw down to 20 degrees but below that it starts much easier with the block heater. The engine shows signs of a little blow-by but still functions well within standards. For a 240, the car is really quick unless you’re starting out on a hill. The engine has been replaced with a later model as the engine in the car is equipped with EGR and EGR did not come on the 240 until 1982. I have no idea when the engine was replaced. With a little more work and love, this car would be pristine as it already turns heads. The windows are all tinted with 15% tint so as to preserve the interior. As can be seen in the pics, the dash only has a few small craks. The tint was professionally installed using Lumar tint. I am sure I have missed something but all question can be answered by contacting Aaron at 662.202.7406 or 662.238.2656 or email at gravesimport@att.netOn Feb-22-11 at 06:02:47 PST, seller added the following information: I also have a right hand exterior mirror that will go to the winning bidder (very expensive). I also forgot to mention that the car is also equipped with the original windshield as it is still marked as an OEM Mercedes and still has the remains of the Daimler Benz product sticker. The windshield has no cracks and very few scratches. I will also include with the sale a set of filters for the vehicle.
