Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 3 owner original California Black Plate 1962 Porsche 356 1600S sunroof coupe. I have the COA for the car, VIN #118831, engine 701126, transmission 52206. Model 1962 356B/1600 S Reutter coupe. I purchased the car from the second owner in Colorado who had purchased the car in February 1977 and had owned the car for 33 years ( titles to document). The car has a rare factory manual working sunroof, all components of the sunroof have been removed and cleaned so it opens and closes perfectly, no leaks or wind noise. The 356 has had one repaint in Signal red in 1979 as well as a partial new interior at that time as well. I asked the last owner why he had done these things and was told the car had sat outside in Southern California for most of it's life before he bought it and the sun had dried out the rear seats and door panels as well as faded the paint. Fortunately the front leather seats were covered and escaped the suns rays, they are in exceptional condition, the leather is soft and supple, the seats are firm and have the correct shape and support with no sag when you sit in them. When I found the car it had been sitting in a garage for several years, the paint had faded, tires cracked, gas had turned to varnish, brake lines deteriorated, but at least this time the car was stored inside. I had the paint professionally cleaned and polished, it came out exceptional. A new gas tank was ordered from Stoddard, all lines cleaned or replaced, carbs rebuilt, brakes, wheel cylinders, seals, master cylinder, new Khmo 165/15 tires, engine flush, whatever the 356 needed to get it back on the road. It now looks and runs great, engine pulls hard, no smoke or leaks, valve adjustment completed, transmission shifts smooth and positive. Steering is tight with a new alignment and tires, brakes stop the car in a straight line, receipts for over $6700 in recent repairs. The only thing left to do would be finish scraping the bottom floor pans and detail the engine, the engine does not look like it has been out of the car in 40 years and certainly could use a detail. Body is straight, all panels have the proper gaps, doors, trunk lid and engine lid close and open with ease. Smooth opening windows, car is tight no rattles or squeaks. Spare tire, jack and some of the original tools come with the car. Battery box has had a panel pop riveted just under the battery itself, two thirds of the battery box is still original. Engine bay original sound pads are still in place and in excellent condition, these seem to get damaged and discarded so it's nice to have them in original condition. The car had a heavy layer of undercoat applied by the second owner 30 years ago, although it is heavy it scrapes off in sections with a putty knife and although unsightly it has protected the panels. I scraped this undercoat from under the fenders and have many photos of the bare metal and factory seams. The undercoat was so heavy it took the factory undercoating off as well during the cleaning process. The radio is missing but antenna is still in place, there is a radio delete plate in place of the radio. all glass is fine and original with exception of the windshield but is in perfect condition. Chrome it great with no pitting or marks. The car can be driven anywhere and I have had it out on several PCA events and shows. I have a collection of eight Porsche's from a 55 preA to a 993. I have been involved with PCA and have been collecting quality Porsche's for twenty years but the collection needs to be reduced as space is at a premium. Email me for a link to over 100 detailed photos. I have shipped and purchased cars from Europe, Canada and the USA and have several reputable companies that myself and other PCA members have used with great results, send me an email for a list of shipping and transport companies. Shipping is the buyers responsibility but I will assist with whatever is needed from this end to ensure safe and timely transport. Car will not be released until funds are cleared. Inspections are welcomed and encouraged.
