Vehicle Detail

1970 Buick Skylark GS I am a lifetime lover and 25 year collector of 1960's through early 70's General Motors products. My specific passion is true "Survivor" cars. This car fits that passion perfectly. All 43 years of my life have been spent in the Pacific Northwest and I am attracted to original cars that have been raised here. This Buick was purchased new in this area and has never left. I have a thick file of service records dating back to almost new. Owners manual and Protect-O-Plate are still in glovebox. Ordered new in Aberdeen Washington and delivered on March 24th, 1970. The car was brought here to Oregon by it's original owner in 1990 and stayed with owner #1 almost 30 years. Records and receipts support ownership history. This is the most rust-free, unaltered, original GS-350 anyone will find. Original paint, original interior and 100% original drivetrain. The word "survivor" is thrown around a little too freely in the classic car arena. At 40 years of age and in her impressive original condition, this car defines the term real survivor. They can only be original once. These cars are never found like this anymore. For those that prefer a more detailed description, here it is: The body on this car is outstanding. All original panels have excellent fit, gaps and alignment. Sighting down the sides is impressive from every angle. No waviness or washboard effect. Doors, fenders and quarter panels are amazingly straight. No bondo or other body fillers of any kind. I find no evidence of previous accidents or collision repair. The original Burnished Saddle paint is in wonderful 41 year old condition. It is showing it's well cared for age in the form of slight fading, small chips and minor blemishes and the paint on the trunk has gotten thin but the car presents itself extremely well. The aged patina of the car is one of it's strongest points. As an intelligent collector, I would NEVER repaint this car. I had the vinyl top replaced and have personally seen the entire naked roof area with the vinyl removed. It was MINT. No rust issues, not even around the rear window. The undersides and trunk are also 100% solid, dry and rust-free. NO patch-work anywhere. The original bumpers, stainless trim, moldings, emblems and glass are in great shape. The factory original grille is also excellent. It receives countless compliments and deserves all of them. Originality cannot be replicated or restored. This car hides nothing. It tells a 40 year story and tells it exceptionally well. Her condition is obvious at a glance and even more so on close inspection. An authentic and original example in every respect. The interior is very nice. The seats, door panels, carpet, headliner and dashboard are excellent and almost entirely original. This car has aged gracefully and lived a well cared for and unabused life. She has factory tachometer and gauges (all working properly) and factory tilt steering column. The car was also ordered with power drivers seat, factory AM/FM radio and rear defogger. The rear-defog and radio are the only non-functioning items. All lights, speedometer, in-dash gauges, heater, wipers, horn, etc, are operating perfectly. The windows roll up and down with 2 fingers. The optional floor-shift center console is in very nice condition. The interior is impressive. The car comes with it's original, numbers matching 315 horse power 350-V8. Please note: She is currently powered by a rebuilt '72 Skylark 350. The original motor was also completely rebuilt but bent a valve. I have personally inspected the internals. Block, heads, crank, pistons, etc, were all correctly done at time of rebuild. It is complete intake to pan and included in this auction with no additional shipping expense. The original 4bbl carburetor is in-place. The factory #'s matching Turbo 350 automatic transmission (with mild shift-kit) and 3:23 ratio rear-end have also been gone through and function perfectly. Factory stampings can be found on all original drivetrain components and matched to the car. The car starts easily even after sitting untouched in my garage for extended periods. Recently received a full and comprehensive service including fluids, filters, alternator, battery, carb rebuild, etc. The car runs and drives perfectly! Acceleration is immediate and crisp. Factory power steering and power brakes. The suspension and steering are tight and sound. I also had the brakes redone and they stop on a dime. The Flowmaster dual exhaust is near new. I just installed brand new BF Goodrich tires. Again, this car starts, runs, drives and performs superbly. Almost all service records since new are included. No attention required before a drive of any distance. No excuses to make. I will make brief comments under some of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've rotated through and sold members from my collection. I'm grateful for the kind remarks I've received. My opinions have served me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and they may differ from your own. I welcome and encourage showing my car in person to anyone with genuine interest. My home and office are both less than 20 minutes from the Portland Oregon Airport and I would gladly pick you up. There are over 80 pictures to view and I apologize if they start looking similar and you get dizzy scrolling through them. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 8PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Wednesday evening, the 23rd of February at 7:30PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a kindhearted person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my Skylark. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I welcome answering questions and I'm happy to provide extra details so don't hesitate to contact me. I personally took every picture you're about to see. No photo has been enhanced, touched-up or altered in any way. Thanks for your time, DAVE Me and the GS crossing one of Portlands many bridges the day I took these photos. I only looked through the camera lense for a second. Survivors, especially in Muscle cars, are becoming difficult to find. This car escaped the fate that most of her sisters experienced. She has been maintained and respected since new. The factory and original GS hood is excellent. The original grille, trim and brightwork are beautiful. Even the lower sections of both rear quarter panels are gorgeous and rust-free. As mentioned, the paint on the trunk is thin. Every light including back-up lamps function properly. Rear speakers were added years ago. The KISN radio station sticker in the window is decades old. Vinyl top is perfect. Please note: I will be keeping the GS 350 license plates. I have promised them to a close friend of mine that is a well respected Buick enthusiast and has a Skylark collection of his own. He is also a primary contributor to the quality of her mechanical condition and drivability. In fact, he has known this car for many years and has authenticated it's history and originality. The dog-dish Buick center caps are very rare and correct for the car and in near mint condition. The BF Goodrich 225-70-15 tires are new. Please notice the very small paint blisters near the GS molding. Only visible on close inspection and isolated to this area at the bottom of the passenger front fender. All glass is excellent. Correct mileage is 144,089 The carpet is perfect. The sunlight caused the illusion of light and dark areas. It is perfect. Even the bottoms of the doors are excellent. Dash pad is mint. There is a seam serparation on the passenger seat where the side bolster meets the top corner. Wouldn't show in this photo. The original door panels and rear side panels are excellent. Factory AM/FM radio. Yes, the tach is perfectly accurate. The entire trunk area is solid and in wonderful shape. I forgot to lift the mat. It is excellent under it. I do have the original tire change and jacking instruction sticker. The undersides are completely original and gorgeous. No salt or harsh de-icer exposure ever. Owners manuals, Protect-O-Plate and trunk sticker. Records and receipts dating back to almost new. Clear Oregon title provided. Her original appearance and condition are the biggest bragging rights. Like stepping back to the 70's. A hard car to find. Terms of Sale: 41yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my car honestly, to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. I have 100% faith in the drivability of this car and to my knowledge everything is in excellent working order per my written description above. I have free and clear Oregon title in my possession. I would drive this car anywhere but she is 41 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. Dennis is a great guy and his direct number is 503-343-4884. He is based here in Oregon and has handled my transport needs perfectly for the last 4 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast enclosed transport is around $1500.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
