Vehicle Detail
Here's a super nice and clean 30th Anniversary Firebird Trans Am Convertible, automatic transmission, with 78877 miles on her. For the US market, there were a total of only 1600 30th anniversary Firebirds made, and only 500 of them were convertibles. This Firebird is number 1266. Later that day I took her to the Pontiac dealer and then to a local GM specialist for a diagnosis. Their verdict is that one of the 8 cylinders is missfiring, most likely due to a spun piston bearing. This vehicle is currently movable with its own engine power but not drivable. The engine starts up just fine but the mechanical noises it's making is just heart breaking. In practical terms this means that the motor needs to be rebuilt/overhauled or replaced in order fix the problem. Since I do not rebuild automobile engines for a living or even as a hobby, the only other realistic alternative for me would be to pay for a mechanic to rebuild this engine or replace the motor with a remanufactured OEM one. My current registration runs out at the end of April, so for now it looks to me like I'll be filing for a temporary non-operational status for this car until this engine issue has been resolved or the car gets sold. This is where you, the fellow hobbyist, will now be getting a golden opportunity to acquire one of these cars fairly cheap! I've discounted my reserve price for what it would cost me to have the motor rebuilt/replaced plus a set of new Michelin high performance tires which I had planned to put in for the summer anyway. This also leaves it up to you to decide how cheap or expensive you want to go with the engine fix. My loss, your gain :-( Please ask any questions you might have before bidding. This vehicle is sold AS-IS with no warranty. Financial and Legal fine print: Winner to pay a $1500 non-refundable deposit within 2 days of the end of this auction. Remaining balance is due with a cashiers check upon the pick up of the vehicle, which should be scheduled to occur within a month. The new owner is responsible for any transportation, shipping, taxes, regulatory and/or other fees and costs associated with the change of ownership of this vehicle. The title to this vehicle will be transferred to the new owner upon verification of good funds. You are going to love this Firebird!!
