Vehicle Detail
1958 Chevrolet 3100 Apache "Big Window" Short bed / Step side Classic Autoworx is pleased to offer this rare and beautiful 56,000 original mile pickup- A 1958 “Big Window” Chevy 3100 Apache short bed / step side. This vehicle was partially restored by Razor’s Hot Rods & Customs and is a fantastic running a driving town truck which was built to be just that, a very nice driver. When it comes to clean, driveable classic trucks, they don’t come much cooler than this! This truck has a lot of eye appeal and its ready for weekend cruising and local car shows! Found in California, the truck only has 56,000 original miles on it. It was used by a Walnut Farm and it stayed with the original family SINCE NEW. Here is your chance to own a really cool cruise night attention getter! A real conversational piece that attracts attention wherever it goes! With the Panoramic rear window, gold metal flaked top and black paint, this truck is an eye catcher! As you’ll see detailed in this listing, Razor’s Hot Rods & Customs did an extensive make over on this truck very recently- (finished up last week!) and with the before and after pictures we're going to share with you, the potential buyer will get a really good idea of the amount of time and work that has gone into this truck. You won’t soon find another “big window” ’58 Apache step side/ short bed like this out there. I could go on and on about how beautiful this truck is and how it’s so old school… but just have a look for yourself! PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO VIEW THE LARGE PHOTOS THAT HAVE BEEN LISTED HERE FOR YOUR CONVIENENCE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING. EXTERIOR BODY/ PAINT: The paint and body on this Apache were completely redone. There are some minor flaws such as a small chip or a small ding that was missed in prep in a spot that wasn’t obvious at the time. This truck is considerably straight and shows very well given the fact that it has never had a major frame off restoration. Done in flat black with multiple coats of clear, it has a glossy/satiny look about it which is hard to describe but looks incredible. The top and grill housing are gold with heavy metal flakes and multiple coats of clear, which has been the typical trademark of Razor’s Hot Rods & Customs. The paint and body work has been done professionally and overall it looks great, as you can see in the pictures. The bed slats are in good condition, having been sanded and re-varnished within the last two weeks. This truck was a life long California truck before being brought to Arizona for it’s restoration. Be prepared to be the center of attention at your local cruise, car show or just at the stop light in this eye popping pickup! There just isn’t another one like this out there! INTERIOR: The interior of the truck is nearly completely redone. From interior paint to upholstery and carpet, it’s all fresh. The bench seat has been recovered in a metal flake gold vinyl to match the gold top and is new. The rubber floor mat was replaced with sound deadener and black carpet. The truck features the original steering wheel (horn works), foot pedal starter, new pedal pads and new accelerator pedal. The door panels were custom painted two-tone black (flat and gloss) and new seat belts were installed for safety, as originally there were none . The original speedometer is accurate. The fuel gauge works properly and is accurate. The lights work and the truck features a custom antique clear shifter. Windows roll up and down properly and doors open and close easily. Engine/Transmission/Differential: Powered by the mighty 235ci Inline 6cyl engine and 4spd transmission, this truck retains it’s original drivetrain. The 235ci I-6 is a work horse of an engine. Not much on horsepower, but it provided lots of torque for it’s time. It is quite economical with a 1v carburetor and it drives wonderfully. The engine was recently tuned up, detailed- a chrome valve cover was added for some additional beauty and it’s been driven at least 100 miles in the last 3 weeks. It’s proven itself reliable and it’s definitely a unique driving experience reminiscent of the days when this truck was created. 55mph is it’s top speed- they just weren’t designed to go faster than that. Does not smoke and is in great mechanical condition. It only has 56,000 miles on it! The transmission is a 4spd. It’s definitely a cruiser vehicle not fit for today’s freeway speeds in it’s current configuration. It was never intended to go 70mph. The clutch is in good working order and the rear differential is in proper working condition. Should provide years of enjoyment with continued proper care and service! Brakes, Steering, Suspension and Structure The brakes on the truck have been recently rebuilt and adjusted including the master cylinder. This truck features a vacuum assisted brake booster option, not commonly seen. The steering on the truck is tight and it drives very well. The suspension was recently lowered a few inches and numerous other repairs and upgrades were made to the truck. The truck is 100% rust free. The frame on the truck and all major components and exterior sheet metal is solid. ---- BEFORE AND AFTER ---- VIDEOS (walk around) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cc1EZqaMU8U(going for a drive) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHhv-nQRmbg(What others see when it's out on the road) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7k212rA-jc Let me state this as a disclaimer: This is not a rotisserie built, nut and bolt, frame off or body off restored show vehicle.
