For sale a lapis blue 1982 Mercedes 240D. This car is a head-turner. For the past 3 years, it has been used for weekends and summers in the Hamptons. The prior owner principally drove her in Nassau county. 184,174 miles, mostly from highway and country driving. Gets 30+ MPG. Over the past three years approximately $5,500 has been invested into the car. New exhaust system, suspension, rear axel, boots, brakes, brake lines, gas tank, fuel filters, tires, battery and hoses. The starter has been refurbished and extensive work has been done on the vacuum system. The engine is extremely strong and starts immediately in cold weather. Prior owner converted it for bio diesel, so it will run on grease or regular diesel fuel. The interior is navy blue, very clean and smoke-free. Prior owner installed a removable CD/radio. The exterior is in good condition, but shows normal wear and has rust patches near the base of the front doors. The floor panels are rusty and will eventually need to be repaired, but are presently useable. The car passed NY inspection in November. This is an excellent project or parts car for a 240D enthusiast. It is drivable but will require minor vacuum system work for optimal performance. First and second gears shift roughly at present due to vacuum leak. Three mechanics have certified that this is the issue and that the transmission is in good condition.
