Vehicle Detail
1969 Dodge Charger Project CarUp for auction is a project 1969 Dodge Charger that I have listed for a friend of mine. This car was originally Y2 Sunfire Yellow with a white vinyl top and white interior. The car had a 318 ci with an automatic transmission on the floor. The previous owner started restoring the car but didn’t get much further than disassembling it. Most all of the parts to complete the car are included in the auction. BODY: The body is much nicer than most project Chargers found on ebay. This car has a lot of the usual B-body rust. As you can see in the pictures, every panel on the car will need some form of repair or replacement. The tail light panel was pushed in at one point and will either need replacing or repair. The trunk floor will also need replacing. Being an original vinyl top car, the roof skin is pitted with a couple holes in the sail panel and a-pillar areas. Please look at all of the pictures and ask any questions that you might have. I have posted many detailed pictures of the body panels, which should answer most of your questions on the condition. FRAME: All of the frame rails appear to be very solid. I did not see anything out of the usual. Please look at the pictures. INTERIOR: The original bucket seats and rear seat will need new padding and reupholstering. The door panels are intact but will need replacing. The upper door pads are useable but are not perfect. When my friend bought the car, it was missing most of the dash components like the cluster, bezels, harness, etc. There are a few of the parts like the ashtray and glove box door. I’m sure I am forgetting some of the small parts though. The AC / Heater box and the console are missing. The quarter glasses and regulators are included with the car but were removed. The floor panels all appear to be very solid but for some reason, there were sections cut out and never patched. You could either patch the sections or just replace the whole floor. TRIM: The grille on this car is VERY VERY nice. The previous owner disassembled the whole grille assembly and started painting the parts. As you can see, the center grille section never got repainted. All of the vacuum pods, brackets, and other misc parts to complete the grille are included. From what I can tell, it appears that most all of the trim is included with the car. The grille trim is included and can be seen in the pictures. The windshield and rear glass trim are included but not pictured. The tail panel trim is included. The outer sail panel trim looks nice but the inner sail panel (“Check pieces”) are broken. The tail light lenses and housings look nice, DRIVETRAIN: The original 318 engine and 904 transmission are long gone. The previous owner purchased a 440 and 727 to go in the car. Just as he did the car, the engine was disassembled and left to sit. All of the parts are included but some of it is not useable. The 440 is a 1976 block with a part number of 4006830. All of the engine parts have surface rust and will need machine work. The 727 is still intact and I am not sure of its condition. The original driveshaft is included. The rear end is an 8 3/4 with a 741 chunk. The car has drum brakes all the way around.WHEELS & TIRES: The Centerline wheels and tires ARE NOT included in the auction. We mounted them on the car to roll it around. The car will be sold with a set of standard steel wheels with good tires that will hold air. The fender tag and VIN plate on the dash are included. There is no build sheet with the car. This car DOES have a clear Mississippi title that is applied for and should be in hand when the new owner takes possession of the car. The fender tag is as followed: XP29:Dodge Charger Premium 2 Door Sports HardtopF9B: 318 230HP 1-2BBL 8 CYL 1969 Dodge Main, Hamtramck, MI, USA 240724: Sequence number E44: 318 cid 2 barrel V8 230hp D31: A904 3-Speed Auto Trans. You will be hard pressed to find a better Project Charger for sale. This car will need all of the usual work but in the end, it will turn out to be a really nice car. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message and I’ll answer it to the best of my ability. NOTICE: If you are interested, the owner of this car restores cars and is an AMD dealer. For an additional cost, we can sell you all of the needed sheet metal for this car (or any other) at a discount. If you like, he will do any or all of the sheet metal, body, or paint work.
