Vehicle Detail
We are selling our completey frame off show quality restoration 1969 Dodge Dart GT with a mild custom. You can go to http://dartgt340custom.shutterfly.com/ to see over a hundred detailed pictures of the exterior, motor, interior and underneath of the Dart. This car is a great driver, is not a matching numbers car, but an original Dodge Dart GT. It has been restored to like new condition with tasteful custom upgrades. We are moving to Europe soon, so we must sell this beautiful car. We encourage you to have the car professionally inspected. Better yet, take a flight to Boise and take it to any inspector, mechanic, etc... you would like. Easily less than 1000 miles on the completely rebuilt 340 with X heads (purple cam) and the 904 with top of the line transmission kit. All of the engine work was done locally in Boise. Stored inside, away from the elements and covered. Almost everything on this car has been replaced with new parts or been completely restored to great condition. It has a brand new 4 barrel Edelbrock carb, brand new tires and wheels, new double exhaust and mufflers with new chrome tail pipes with performance manifolds. Too many new things to list but among other things it has a new: starter, water pump, HP distributor control box (converted to electronic ignition (no need to worry about points anymore), brakes, water pump, battery, Vinyl Top, Windshield, drive shaft, 8 track player and speakers, steering column, automatic stick shift and assembly, steering wheel, hoses, wires, trunk mat, carpeting, dash, headliner, visors, radiator, fan, fan clutch, performance air shocks (you can add air in the trunk, like for a tire, to raise or lower the back end, we have added what we feel makes the car look best...but many like it higher in the back) etc... Almost everything is new, all the rubber, bolts, weather-stripping, has been replaced. And yes under the car it looks as beautiful as the inside, outside and motor. This car has been reengineered with heavy duty torsion bars, springs, shocks and front sway bar characterized the most prestigious GT sports suspension in 1969. This was an incredibly expensive restoration, but was done for the MOPAR enthusiast demanding not only the best, but also a delightful custom original. Bumpers have also been professionally customized in Corvette Monza Red. For a stunning clean look. The tiny defeats on this car are: tiny tears on both door panels just underneath and forward of the door handles. You can barely see this in the picture, but look at door panels below. Door panels are original with the car, so we had them restored (repainted black) and trim repainted silver. You can buy new door panels for just over $200, if this bothers you. The radio is original, but the sound can go on an off going over a bump, I assume it is a loose wire, but do not know. There is a tine little crack on the dash insert next to the glove box on the bottom by the screw, look below. I can't think of anything else, this car is really looks like new everywhere, inside and out. The most amazing thing about this car is the mild tasteful custom. This car was restored to represent the best and most recognizable and iconic parts of the Best Dodge Dart between 1968 and 1970. The honey bee stripes on the back are from 1968 and moving forward to the front hood the double hood scoops are from 1970 with the original 340 emblems. Obviously changing the bee strip to 1969 and removing the hood scoops would be a very easy fix. There is some of the paint left from the paiint job it received this year. The interior was done with black vinyl and strong material inside the seats to make it more comfortable. It has bucket seats with the center console and the automatic stick is on the floor. This vehicle was made to have everything original from the 1968 to 1970 era. Professionally painted in Corvette Monza Red with black honey bee and vinyl top. This car has the original radio with dial buttons, along with a new 8 track and speakers. In my opinion this car is spotless, you could eat off anything in the engine compartment. With power steering and a brand new motor and transmission it sounds amazing and drives wonderful. You will get a brand new car cover, over 30 vintage collector 8 track Albums, including: Pablo Cruise- A Place in the Sun, STIX-The Grand Illusion, Pat Benatar-Crimes of Passion, Jackson Browne-Running on Empty, Billy Joel the Stranger, Eddie Rabbit-Horizon (2 albums), America Live, Billy Joel-Glass Houses, Chicago VIII, Queen- The Game, Dr. Hook-Pleasure and Pain, KC and the Sunshine Boys-Part III, Kenny Rogers-Love will turn you around, Twenty greatest hits, Share your love, Simon and Garfunkle-Bridge Over Troubled Waters, The Beach Boys-Endless Summers, Carly Simon-Come Upstairs, Alabama-Feels so Right, The Closer you Get, 40 Hour Week, Chicago 17, James Taylor-Greatest Hits, Eddie Rabit-Radio Romance, Pink Floyd-The Dark Side of the Moon, Elton John-Breaking Hearts, Seals and Croft-The Longest Road, Dionne Warwick-Promises, Promises, Barry Manilow- Barry, and the Beach Boys-Greatest Hits, along with vintage 8 track tape cases. Take a drive with your sweet heart and listen to the songs from those special years. These 8 Track albums will be worth more and more money as time goes on. Also, I specially ordered two never used specialty key chains of the dodge dart from this era in painted cast aluminum, they are still in the original packaging, one is the color of the car without hood scoops, but is a 69 Dodge Dart Swinger, the other is gold but has the 70 hood scoops which we love. You will not be disappointed with this car, it starts easy, has great power, handles very well, and is an all around great driver. On Jan-28-11 at 22:03:08 PST, seller added the following information: Yes, to the MOPAR fansvwho asked. This car cost many thousands of dollars more to restore than asking price. But, you must also realize that the pleasure of restoring is worth many thousands more than the value of the car. Being a part of history and sharing the restoration of this car with family is very exhiting. No, I will not cry in selling this car. My goal is to revise many historically loved cars to nearly perfect condition. Otherwise, where is the fun in life ? On Jan-29-11 at 10:26:44 PST, seller added the following information: Yes, this is a no reserve auction. Happy bidding! On Jan-29-11 at 15:11:57 PST, seller added the following information: I just added (01-29-2011) a cold start of the motor video at http://dartgt340custom.shutterfly.com/. It is at the very bottom of the page. Sorry about quality, but, I have a cheap photo camera which lets me shoot videos of less than one minute. On Jan-30-11 at 17:36:56 PST, seller added the following information: For information: I advertised this car through National Vehicle Marketing, one of the most well known and prestigious organizations on ebay (Platinum Member). They told me that this car is worth over $40,000, but in todays economy would sell easily for 29,900. They ran my car on ebay for three weeks prior to this auction and nobody bought the car. This is why I decided to let the people decided and sell it on a "NO RESERVE" auction.through Ebay. I actually put a buy it now price on the ad for $24,500. Here is a copy and paste of the ebay description: Starting price: $200.00 Buy It Now price: $24,500.00 Duration: 7 days Listing scheduler: List immediately Page counter: Basic Style Listing designer: Used I wrote Ebay and complained, because this vehicle is supposed to have a buy it now price, + it was supposed to be a 10 day auction (to give people time on the weekend to think about it. I will still sell it for the buy it now price. If you want the buy it now price, just let me know. I wrote Ebay minutes after I posted the auction (Friday) about this problem and I have had no response. On Jan-30-11 at 17:55:23 PST, seller added the following information: It will remain a 7 day auction. Also, it will go to the highest bidder, if no one wants it for the buy it now price. Happy Bidding! On Feb-02-11 at 21:37:23 PST, seller added the following information: I have just uploaded a canvas/collage, offered free by Vuvox, which is an Ebay company. I hope this works!! I have never heard of it, but they gave me a message saying this was free, so I thought I would try it. There are only 2 days left before the auction ends and it makes me feel good to see that there are so many people who appreciate this car. I want to remind you that this car will be sold at the end of the auction on Friday to the highest bidder, regardless of the price. Of course, I hope someone bids 150,000 US dollars (just kidding...a guy can dream, right? :-) But, I can promise that whoever buys this car will not be disappointed, especially if the final bid is under $30,000, which looks to be the case. As I have already said, this car looks much better in person than in the photos. Here is what I suggest: Call an mechanic, body shop, paint shop, muffler shop, car dealership, etc... in Boise. Ask them how much it would cost to do a complete inspection and set up an appointment tomorrow or Friday. I work out of the house as I direct an online MBA for a French business school. You will have to pay for the inspection, but , I will be able to take the Dart to whoever you like. You can call me at 208 906 3003. Also, if you buy the car, you can ask whoever inspected it, if they could send you the title, watch me sign it, check my Idaho Drivers Liscense and vehicle title. Don't be afraid to ask me anything; You can use an escrow service, insurance agent, etc to verify that I correctly signed the title over to you and have them send it, if you would like.... I can imagine buying a car online could create some anxiety :-) By the way, if you want to know more about me, then go to www.chicmba.com and look at the video presentation. I'm the guy that presents the MBA. I lived in France for almost 20 years (came back to the US four years ago, as Director of the MBA Online program and Vice-Director of International Development for North America. About a month ago, with a change in management, I was basically told if I was not back in France by March, that I would loose my job. 10 years ago, I transported my 1966 Ford Mustang to France, it was beautiful, buth nothing near to the perfection of this Dodge Dart GT. I just don't have the funds to keep and send this car overseas today. Just the shipping of my household goods from France to the US cost over $25,000 four years ago. Otherwise, if you want to know who I am, you can see my Resume, etc... by doing a google search: Mike Hanson Professor France. The first 4 or 5 documents that come up on a google search with these key words explain who I am and what I do. Anyway, I hope this explains why I would let this car go on a NO RESERVE auction, rather than wait for the buyer who is willing to pay me what it is really worth. Again, don't hesitate to call me with the most outrageous demands...need a photograph of something? I will put it on the website for all to see. I'm 150% confident about this car. I did not do the major restoration of this car. This car was mostly restored by a Boise man, who is a perfectionist and skilled artist. I'm a perfectionist myself, but honestly I can't claim that I'm responsible for this. I always seek to improve on something that is great, but there was little to do on this car. He restored it for his own daughter (which explains the perfectionist restoration), but got carried away in the end, by installing a wonderfully rebuilt 340 with X heads and purple cam, etc... and finally he told me, "I realized it was too powerful for my young daughter, in the beginning I was just going to rebuild the original V8, then I found this original time period 340". So, he sold it to me, because he wanted space in his garage to restore a 60's model VW bug. I finished (perhaps too much of a statement...as it was nearly perfection when I bought it) the magnificent job he did, most recently the paint which has no scratches, dents, dings or anything. This car is not perfect...but almost!!! Sometimes, I just go in the garage and look at the car, marvelling at the talent of its restorer, I open the hood and sit in it, listening to the many 8 tracks I have...pure pleasure. Since I put it up for auction on ebay, I drive it every day, carefully, to the grocery store in the early evening (yes, I park it far from the main entrance of the store, so nobody parks next to it)...can't help myself :-) By the way, the car has only about 500 miles on everything, including the completely rebuilt motor and transmission, but it has never ever been driven hard (driven only by a couple of dreaming grampas!) Okay, I'm not a grampa yet, but I have 4 kids over 21 years old... Come on kids, make me a grampa!
