Vehicle Detail
1996 Mercedes-Benz S 500 This is an awesome car. The engine runs strong and is extremely powerful. It has no unusual noises, leaks or smells. Read carefully. The trans was perfect a week ago. I bought it at a dealer only auction and test drove it. It was just fine. I had it out that night on the highway at 100 mph and it was perfect. I drove it the nest day and it was also fine. Someone bumped into it on the lot and it sat for a few days. When I got into it and drove it the trans was in "limp mode". I have no idea why. I checked all the fuses and found one related to both the power mirrors and trans. One of the mirrors was damaged when it was hit on the lot. I replaced the fuse. It kept blowing. I unplugged the mirror and replaced the fuse. It didn't blow again. I assumed there was a relation between the limp mode and blown fuse. However, the trans is still in not working. It isn't slipping or banging. Limp mode is just second gear only. I assume there is something that needs to be reset. If you are a mechanic and can help me fix it I'll pay you. I have no one capable of doing it without a month wait to get in their shop. The interior is nice. I have posted clear pics. The body is gorgeous. I have high quality pics and they don't even do this justice!! Come get this beauty and get it working properly. 570-840-5942 DaveOn Jan-25-11 at 13:46:20 PST, seller added the following information: I did the code reset today and pulled it out and it drove perfect. I drove it all day and had no issues. I have a video of me on the expressway going 80mph. I stopped for gas and when I pulled back out it was back in limp mode. I just had a friend reset the codes with a snap-on computer he paid $10,k for and it read trans code 110. It's some sort of speed sensor. It drove fine again. I'll see in the morning if it is in limp mode or not. I need to figure out what part to buy to get it to stop getting that code. I am selling it as-is. P.S. if i get the trans fixed I will be raising the price. If it's sold before that it's $3995. Buy this only if you know about cars and are not going to cry to me about anything that may or may not be wrong with it. They are of when I cleared the trans codes and it drove very well. It shifted thru all of the gears and I had it on the highway up to 80mph. My mechanic thinks it needs the electronic trans control module. He said it's about $200. Please note that When I listed it it had 159909 miles I put over 100 miles on it in the last two days. It is now just over 160k. It is also back in limp mode and should be towed to your destination. Please form your own assumptions and this is still sold as-is. If I get the module and install it the auction will be ended and the price will be $5500. Thanks. Dave 570-840-5942 On Jan-30-11 at 20:33:23 PST, seller added the following information: Bid to own.
