Vehicle Detail
This is an exceptionally nice car. It is mechanically very solid. The interior and exterior are also in very good condition. I don't want to say it is perfect because it has some normal wear, but far less than what you would expect for a 7 year old car. There are no door dings or major scratches on the car. There are some rock chips on the hood that have been touched up but other than that the paint is very good. The headliner in the interior has pulled away from the edges in a few places and sagging a little in the back but not bad. See photos of headliner. Other than that the interior is almost perfect. The headliner can be easily and inexpensively replaced if someone wanted to. Two of the aluminum wheels have a few minor scuffs on them, but not bad. See picture of worst wheel. All the glass in the car is good with no rock chips or scratches. The passenger side headlight has a blemish on it. See picture. All doors are tight with no wind noise. The sunroof is tight with no leaks. All windows, locks, gauges, heater, air conditioner, etc. work like they should. There is a warning light illuminated on the dash (triangle with an explanation point in it surrounded by an arrow making a circle around it). See photo. The Volkswagen dealer calls it an ASR warning light. This happened once before and the Volkswagen dealer found no problem and reset it. But now it has come back on. It makes no difference in the way it drives but I took it to the Volkswagen dealer to have it checked again and to have a factory recall repair done to the sunroof. This time they indicated the light was on due to a stored fault caused by a defective steering angle sensor. Their estimate to repair was $575. I thought this was a little expensive just to have a light disappear from the dash. It is not causing any problems so I didn't repair it and the light is still on. I'm sure it can probably be repaired somewhere else besides the dealer for a lot less. Other than that everything on the car works the way it should. All in all I think you will be very impressed with how this car looks and drives. I purchased the car 2-1/2 years ago for my daughter and it had about 67,500 miles on it. It had been in an accident and repaired. See title information below. It now has a little over 103,400 miles. It has 2 new Perelli tires on the front. The back tires are Michelin and getting worn but still have some miles left in them. See photos. The timing belt, tension pulley, and water pump were replaced at 87,319 miles as was recommended by Volkswagen as routine maintenance. I have also replaced both front CV axles and the fuel pump within the last 6 months. I have also just put new brake pads on the front. A sensor light had come on indicating the pads needed to be checked. When I checked the pads they were fine but a wire had broken on the pad going to the sensor. Since I had it apart I went ahead and replaced the front pads. The back brake pads still have plenty of life left in them so I didn't replace them. So the new owner shouldn't have any major issues as these are the things that commonly have to be replaced around this mileage. It also has a very nice Monsoon stereo system and it has the 5 speed tiptronic transmission that can be shifted manually in the performance mode. I have also always used full synthetic motor oil and changed it about every 5,000 miles as recommended by Volkswagen. This will make an excellent car for someone. The only reason I am selling it is because I purchased another car for my daughter. Vehicle Title: As mentioned above, the car was in an accident according to the place I purchased it from. As such, the title will show up as rebuilt/repairable/salvage in the vehicle history report. According to the place I purchased it from the car was side swiped on the passenger side and all body parts were replaced with new panels. They had pictures of the car prior to the repair and it looked like they would have had to replace the front and rear passneger side quarter panels, both doors, and the front and back bumper covers (corners of bumpers were damaged). The windows did not appear to be broken in the damage photos so it wasn't hit too hard. Basically it looked like they just got up against a guard rail on the passenger side from looking at the photos. As far as I can tell it does not have any bondo on the car as all parts were replaced. It was repaired properly and I had my mechanic check it out thoroughly when I bought it. He gave it a clean bill of health with no problems from being in the wreck. I have also had the back bumper replaced since I have owned it (from my daughter backing into another car). It wasn't hit hard but it did poke a hole in the bumper cover so it had to be replaced. The body shop that did this repair also said the car was in great shape and they saw no problems with anything. My mechanic and the body shop have both said they could not tell the car had been in an accident. And I can assure you from owning it 2-1/2 years and putting 35,000 plus miles on it - it has no problems. The car has a normal Texas blue title like any other car except that it says "Rebuilt Salvage - Damaged" under the remarks section on the title . This car is also still eligible for all recall campaigns. I have had it in for all recall/repair campaigns issued by Volkswagen since I have owned it. I have tried to think of everything but if you have a question just ask. Please dont let the title issue shy you away from this car. It has absolutely nothing wrong with it. It is a very nice car and I think the new owner will be very pleased. I will be glad to take more pictures and email them if someone wants to see something specific. If the winning bidder decides they do not want the car after looking at it and driving it I will gladly refund your deposit. If you want to look at and inspect the car prior to the end of the auction I will be glad to show it to you. The reserve price is well below book value and the Buy It Now price. On Jan-23-11 at 12:01:19 PST, seller added the following information: This car gets about 32 miles per gallon on the highway.
