Vehicle Detail
This is a 1949 Ford Marmon Herrington F5 Pickup Truck. It was restored about 15 years ago by what I can tell. I bought it and went through the brakes, axle seals and converted it to 12 volts. The truck runs very good. Blows a little smoke - I think it is the original flathead. The interior is very clean and very nice. It is straight - has some dents but overall a very nice original marmon herrington truck. I also put the front bumper on - and the rear bumper, brake lights, headlights, etc..After replacing all the brakes - the pedal goes to the floor - so I think a wheel cylinder is leaking. I replaced 2 of them and rebuilt 2 - so likely one of the 2 is not good. The brake linings, 2 wheel cylinders, master cylinder and seals are all new.The paint is not that nice - it looks good from a distance but up close you can see rust spots underneath it in spots.4 wheel drive works, has a positive compensation unit (not sure what it does), 12 volt generator and regulator works. No leaks.A real solid very good condition F5 marmon herrington truck. The things I would need to do:The driver door handle needs replacing ( I have one)Horn button needs replacement (I have a repo one)Find the brake fluid leak - rebleed the brakes Fix the heater (still 6 volt) On Jan-22-11 at 18:01:46 PST, seller added the following information: There have been some questions about the truck so I will describe a little more here: The frame looks uncut and original all the springs and shackles are in good condition. The rear springs are two sets and quite heavy duty. Wheelbase is 134". The bed is likely off a 122" truck and has had the fenders moved back about 12" to accommodate the longer wheelbase. The tag inside says unloaded weight is 4800 lbs and loaded is 10,200 lbs - making it a 2 1/2 ton truck. The engine is a flathead V8. 4 Speed transmission. 2 Speed Transfer Case. Single speed axles. It also has a positive compensation unit - I don't know what that does. There are no bad rust areas on the truck - but some areas where you can see the paint bubbling with surface rust underneath.
